Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1055: Bastard! Crazy!

Rawlins didn't take it to heart when he learned that Earlene had booked a flight to Italy, thinking that she had a business trip.

But then the secretary told him that Hector had left for Italy two days before.

The two events were so coincidental that he had to wonder about Earlene's purpose for going to Italy.

The lab was silent, Rawlins' gaze locked on Earlene's face and the hands that fell to his side clenched quietly.

He was waiting for her answer.

Earlene gave a cold 'hmm'.

"What are you going to do in Italy?" Rawlins asked eagerly.

Brows furrowed, Earlene looked at him with displeasure, "Do I have to tell you where I'm going?"

"That's not what I meant." Rawlins took a deep breath to calm himself down, "I mean, why are you suddenly going to Italy, is it a business trip?" "What I'm going to do is none of your business."

Earlene gave him a cold glance before crossing over to him and walking out of the lab.

"Earlene!"

Rawlins hurried out after him.

He caught up with Earlene, "Hector's in Italy too, isn't he?"

At that, Earlene stopped and turned his head, his icy gaze shooting at Rawlins.

Rawlins followed suit and stopped.

He laughed sarcastically, "Isn't it strange how I know, Earlene, you're so predictable."

Earlene smiled suddenly, but the smile did not reach her icy eyes, "Yes, I went to Italy for Hector. Is that satisfactory to you when I say that?" Although he had already guessed what she was up to, hearing her admit it in person was like a knife stabbing him hard in the heart.

Rawlins smiled, a bitter smile, and he looked at her steadily, asking, "Was it worth it?"

There was no response.

"I ask you, was it worth it?" His voice was suddenly much higher.

Earlene's eyes flashed and she said back coldly, "It's worth it."

"Haha..." Rawlins burst out laughing.

Earlene frowned fiercely and said, "Crazy" and was ready to leave.

But Rawlins couldn't just let her go.

He reached out and snapped her wrist, pulling hard.

Earlene didn't have time to react and her whole back slammed into the wall.

"Ah!" She cried out in pain, her small face scrunched up into a frown.

Whirling around, she tilted her head and glared angrily at Rawlins, "Are you mad?"

Rawlins nodded, "Yes, I am mad, and I am driven mad by you!"

With those words, he bullied her and pinned her against the wall, attempting to kiss her.

"Snap!"

Earlene struggled hard and slapped him hard across the face.

"Bastard! Crazy!"

Earlene's eyes were red as she stared at the man in front of her, how could she have ever thought he would do such a beastly thing to her. "Earlene ..." Rawlins looked at her at a loss for words and reached out to touch her, only to have her dodge her.

"Don't touch me!" Earlene yelled.

"Okay, okay, I won't touch you." Rawlins held up his hands, "Earlene, I'm sorry, it's my fault for getting carried away before... before ..." Earlene squeezed her palms together, "Rawlins, you're disgusting!"

Dropping those words, she turned and strutted away.

Rawlins dared not pursue her as he watched her figure disappear around the corner of the corridor, lifting his hand and slapping himself, cursing himself in chagrin, "Rawlins, what the hell are you doing? Are you out of your mind?" It had been so easy for him and Earlene to ease up on their relationship, and today his actions had once again brought the two to a freezing point.

...

Ever since he took over the reins of the Khan Group, Edgar seems to have lost his life. Every day is a very simple and stressful day at home and at work.

The fire at the warehouse is over, so he meets up with some friends for a drink to relax.

Only, he didn't expect to run into Earlene.

Earlene was sitting at the bar, with her back to Edgar.

At first, Edgar thought it was just someone with a similar back and didn't think anything of it.

But when she turned her head, she realised it was Earlene.

He immediately got up, said something to his friend and headed for the bar.

Earlene tilted her head back and took a large gulp of wine into her mouth, the cold liquid running down her throat and into her stomach, inducing an uncomfortable pang in her stomach.

A thin brow furrowed slightly and she subconsciously squeezed her glass tighter.

"Earlene."

Suddenly, a familiar voice sounded in her ears.

She turned her head, only to see Edgar looking at herself with a gentle, light smile in the misty light of the bar.

"What a coincidence." Edgar walked over and sat down on the high chair next to her.

Earlene withdrew her eyes and tilted her head back to take another large sip of her drink.

Seeing how hard she was drinking, Edgar frowned and said with concern, "Drink less, it's not good for your health."

At this, Earlene snorted out a laugh and looked at him sideways, "Do you want to control me too?"

Edgar flinched, "No, I'm not policing you, I'm just reminding you."

Earlene glanced at him and raised her hand for the bartender to pour her another drink.

Seeing this, Edgar asked tentatively, "Did something happen? You don't seem to be in a very good mood."

Earlene sipped her wine and ignored him.

Edgar was unimpressed as he took a sip of his wine, laughed softly and said to himself, "You say it's quite a wonderful fate for people, you saved Eloise because you did, and she and became friends. We met because we worked together and I fell in love with you and I'm still Eloise's cousin, it's really quite wonderful."

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, "But you don't like me."

Earlene's eyes flickered slightly, she pursed her lips and turned her head, "Edgar."

"Hmm?" Edgar looked into her temperatureless eyes.

"Give it up, I'm not right for you." Earlene said.

Edgar raised an eyebrow, "How do you know it's not for you?"

"I've got someone I like."

"I know."

Seeing how straightforward his answer was, Earlene suddenly didn't know what to say and she sighed, "Never mind, forget I said it."

She lifted her glass to take another drink and Edgar hastily held her hand down.

She turned her head and looked at him, only to see him slowly curving his lips and saying in one particularly clear word, "I'm ready to give up, maybe you're right, we're not right for each other."

Not expecting him to say that, Earlene froze.

She should have been relieved, but she felt something inside her that she couldn't quite put her finger on.

Like a loss.

Edgar let go and smiled as he continued, "But we are still friends, and ... partners."

Earlene looked back and the corners of her mouth curled, "Well, friends."

"Whew!" Edgar let out a long breath, "The moment I decided to give up, my whole being was so much lighter. I wish ..."

He inclined his head to look at her, "You can give up too, don't get too attached to one person or you'll be miserable." Earlene took a sip of her wine and said faintly, "I know my own business."
