Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1057: Making a joke

The old castle was brightly lit, gilded and clothed.

The live band played upbeat music and the atmosphere was lively, and laughter could be heard from time to time.

In contrast to the party atmosphere, there was an air of sabre rattling in the master's room on the first floor of the castle.

Bergerian's handsome face was tense, his warmless gaze fixed on the woman in front of him.

--Lisa.

His wife.

Lisa's face was equally cold as she took a deep breath and said, "I don't care, I'm going to do this. If you don't agree, I'll tell my father."

She threatened him with her father every time.

Bergerian turned his head sideways, hiding the flash of disgust in his eyes, and spoke coldly, "As you wish."

Was that a yes?

Lisa beamed with joy, stepping forward to hook his arm affectionately and pouting, "That's very kind of you, darling."

"The guests are here, I'll go downstairs first."

Bergerian drew back his hand and, without waiting for her reaction, strode out.

Lisa was unimpressed as she called for the maid to help her freshen up, a sweet smile always on her face.

As soon as Bergerian appeared, there was an immediate silence and even the band stopped playing.

Guests wore masks on their faces as they watched Bergerian walk slowly down the stairs, step by step.

Bergerian turned his head and gave a look to the butler, who immediately raised his hands and clapped them together, and the band resumed playing. The scene came alive again.

"Mr Bergerian, good evening." Someone was the first to greet him.

Bergerian took the wine handed to him by the butler and chatted with the others.

Meanwhile, a black Bentley pulled into the estate and parked at the gates of the old castle.

"Prince, Miss. Killers, you guys be careful." Ramm turned his head to look at Hector and Killers in the back seat.

Killers glanced at Hector and nodded, "Don't worry, I'll protect your prince."

"Thanks Miss. Killers," Ramm looked at her gratefully.

"Hector, I can't believe your subordinates really think you're so weak that you have to be protected by me." Killers teased with a smile.

At that, Ramm's heart thudded and he hurriedly explained, "Prince, that's not what I meant ..."

"I know." Hector interrupted him, "You take the car to the car park and wait for us there."

Ramm nodded, "Yes."

Hector and Killers got out of the car on either side.

Looking up at the centuries-old castle in front of him, Hector's dark eyes were unmoving within his mask, and he glanced sideways to see Killers approaching and lifted his hand. Killers walked up to him and took him by the arm.

"Go inside." Killers said.

The two men walked in harmony into the illuminated old castle.

Inside the castle, guests gathered in twos and threes to talk and laugh, each with a mask on their face so that no one knew who was behind it unless they knew each other well. "Lisa's family, one of the top ten families in Italy, is extremely prestigious and has untold wealth, and Bergerian will marry Lisa because of the untold benefits their family can bring him." Killers whispered in Hector's ear, her eyes wandering among the guests before finally settling on a tall figure.

"There's Bergerian."

Hector followed her line of sight and his eyes flickered slightly the moment he saw Bergerian.

"Want to go over and say hello?" Killers asked.

Hector and she looked at each other and lifted their steps towards Bergerian.

Bergerian was talking to his guest when suddenly an unfamiliar voice came through, "Mr Bergerian."

He turned his head and looked at the voice only to see a man and woman walking towards him. "You are..."

For a moment Bergerian could not recognise who they were because of the masks they were wearing.

"We're from the André family." The Killers introduced themselves.

"Mr. André?" the Bergerian frowned and then smiled, "So it's the André family, welcome."

He held out his hand.

Hector took it, "Thank you for the invitation."

It was a simple handshake, but Bergerian felt a powerful aura emanating from the other man, and he had to look at him a few more times.

"At the risk of asking, did we meet last time?" Bergerian asked tentatively.

Hector nodded, "Yes, I have, before at the opening of your pharmaceutical company."

As he said this, Bergerian remembered that there had indeed been someone from the André family last time too, and that he had had someone's eyes on him. Bergerian smiled instantly, "So it was you."

Hector nodded slightly.

"I wonder how Mr. André's health is?" Bergerian asked.

"He's fine, he just didn't have time to come over, so he let us come in his place and congratulate your lady on her happy birthday."

Hector winked at Killers, who hurriedly handed out the box he was holding, "This is a birthday present for your lady."

Bergerian let the butler take it and smiled, "Thank you for the gift, my wife will love it."

Hector smiled and nodded, "You're busy then, we'll talk later when we have time." "Good."

Bergerian watched them leave, the smile slowly fading from the corners of his mouth and a little more suspicion in his eyes. What was going on with Mr. André not turning up himself on both occasions, but having someone else come instead?

"Sir, do you need me to send someone to keep an eye on them?" The butler saw what was on his mind and asked in a whisper. "Go ahead."

Although he hadn't found anything strange last time, he still couldn't let his guard down this time.

Especially as the research had recently reached its most important part, he was afraid that someone with a mind to do so would try to take advantage of the opportunity to cause trouble. Killers was acutely aware that someone was watching them and his thin eyebrows wrinkled, "It seems the Bergerian is suspicious of us."

"Just get used to it. It was the same last time." Hector said lightly, not taking the other man seriously.

Last time they couldn't spot the break, so it was the same this time.

Hearing him say that, Killers simply took no notice of the man as she lifted the wine from the table and shook it gently, her eyes scanning the room with intent. "Lisa wasn't there."

Hector took a sip of his wine, the corners of his mouth curling seemingly, "It always turns up."

Killers gave him a look and raised his eyebrows, "Hey, Hector, you're not trying to seduce someone's wife with a beauty ploy, are you?"

A stern look was shot and she hastened to smile ingratiatingly, "Just kidding, just kidding."

"Still don't know that you can't look at any other woman but Eloise." Killers muttered in a small voice.

"Killers," Hector called out suddenly.

"What for?"

Hector gestured for her to look in the direction of the stairs, "Is that Lisa?"

Killers looked over, only to see nearly a dozen women wearing identical gowns and masks slowly walking down the stairs.
