Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1063: Defending Against People
As soon as Earlene returned to the Institute, she immediately threw herself into her research on Eloise's blood.
She found that the drug she had researched only had an inhibiting effect on the virus, not to the extent of complete eradication.
In other words, her research had failed once again.
She looked at the slides in the petri dish and, annoyed, took off her gloves and threw them onto the lab bench, turning to walk out of the lab.
"Earlene."
As soon as she stepped outside, Rawlins, who was waiting outside, immediately greeted her, but didn't dare to get too close, rubbing her hands together in a slightly nervous manner. "Something wrong?" Earlene looked at him with an expressionless face.
"You're leaving for Italy tomorrow, so come home for dinner tonight, will you?"
Rawlins, always spirited in front of outsiders, seemed particularly humble in front of her every time, his tone unconsciously begging.
"No need." Earlene refused without mercy.
No surprise there.
Rawlins smiled bitterly, "Earlene, it was my fault that day, I shouldn't have ..."
"Don't say it." Earlene didn't want to bring up that day again and interrupted him directly in a stern voice.
"Okay, I won't say anything. Don't you get mad." Rawlins rushed to reassure her, "Earlene, no matter how much you hate me, in my heart you'll always be the most important."
"Oh?" Earlene raised her eyebrows, "More important than the company?"
"Of course." Rawlins replied without hesitation.
Earlene nodded, "Well then, you'll leave the company to me, is that okay?"
"Earlene, this ..." Rawlins was a little overwhelmed, he smiled reluctantly, "Dad gave me the company himself, once you marry me, won't the company be yours?
"Heh." Earlene sneered, looking at him with sarcasm, "Rawlins, do you think I could possibly marry you? Also, I don't know what tactics you used to get my father to give you the company, but I'll replace out."
At these words, Rawlins became anxious, "Earlene, what do you mean by that, are you doubting my intentions towards the Bartram family?"
Earlene refused to answer his question, "Do you have any other business? If not, please leave."
"Earlene, why are you being like this?"
A feeling of powerlessness instantly overwhelmed Rawlins as he looked at the expressionless Earlene and sighed heavily, "Never mind, think what you will. I'm sure time will tell." "I'm off, I hope everything goes well for you in Italy."
Seeing that Earlene didn't answer, he gave her a deep look and could only turn around and leave with no choice but to leave.
Watching his figure disappear around the corner of the corridor, Earlene withdrew her eyes, slowly closing her eyes and taking a deep breath to suppress the irritation inside her. Since Mum and Dad had left, Rawlins had taken over all the burdens, leaving her to do what she loved.
But if it hadn't been for Rawlins, her loving parents wouldn't have left this world so early.
She opened her eyes and a sneer curled the corners of her mouth; she couldn't tell what kind of feelings she really had for Rawlins.
But none of that mattered, all that mattered was that tomorrow, she was leaving for Italy.
She hoped Hector wouldn't be too surprised to see her.
...
AlmeidaSener rushed to Kyoto, as Hector had ordered.
Eloise was surprised to see them, "What brings you here?"
"The prince asked us to come and give you a thorough examination." Almeida answered back truthfully.
Eloise gave a helpless smile, "I'm fine already, actually you guys don't need to come over."
"The prince he is not at ease." Sener said.
At that, Eloise's heart felt like it was stuffed with cotton, but she muttered, "He's really being too careful."
Almeida couldn't help but laugh and tease, "Miss Eloise, the prince is so careful because he cares for you."
After the jibe, he grinned and turned the conversation around, "Miss Eloise, a physical examination is a must, otherwise we don't know what the virus in your body is doing right now." Eloise nodded in understanding, "I know."
So Eloise dutifully underwent the examination, having only just had a tube of blood drawn by Earlene, she had another tube drawn by Almeida and the others.
This made her sputter, "How much blood has been drawn today, how much do I have to eat to make up for it?"
"Wasn't it just one tube?" Almeida looked at the test tube in her hand and frowned in wonder.
Eloise looked at her arm as she said carelessly, "No, that Earlene drew a tube too."
"What?"
Almeida was shocked, he and Sener looked at each other and asked anxiously, "Miss Eloise, did she say what the blood draw was going to be for?"
Hearing a bit of excitement in his voice, Eloise turned her head to look at him, blinked and returned, "She was saying she wanted to test to see if there was anything wrong with the blood." "Oh no." Almeida's expression turned grave.
"What's wrong?" Eloise asked, puzzled.
"Miss Eloise, you know that if it becomes more widely known that you have a new virus in your body, then you will be in a very dangerous position. There will be a lot of medical researchers who will want to replace you and study you then." Hearing Sener's explanation, Eloise was shocked, but said, "Earlene won't tell anyone."
"Can she be trusted?" Almeida asked.
Eloise frowned, "Should... be okay I guess."
Hearing her tone as if she wasn't very sure, Almeida couldn't help but laugh, "Miss Eloise, forget it this time, you must be careful in the future, you can't be too wary of people."
Eloise smiled shyly, "Okay, I'll be careful next time."
Almeida nodded and handed the tube of blood to Sener, "You take it and test it to see what the virus is now."
"Good." Sener took it and then turned to the makeshift lab table that had been set up to start doing the tests.
It wasn't as well equipped, but a blood test would do the trick.
"Do you need me to do anything else?" Eloise asked.
Almeida shook her head, "No. You can go out and wait for us." "Okay."
Eloise walked out and met up with Brimlad who came upstairs.
"How did it go?" Brimlad asked, concerned.
"We won't know until they've tested it." Eloise said back.
Brimlad nodded and asked again, "Eloise, what is going on with the virus in your body and how did you contract it?"
At this, Brimlad had previously just assumed she was unwell, not realising it was so serious.
Eloise looked down and smiled, "It's a long story."
"Then tell me briefly what it's about."
"Well..." Eloise thought for a moment and said, "The virus is a new type of virus that is supposed to be the only one in the world that I have in my body, or more accurately the only one infected with it that is still alive and well. " "What does that mean?" Brimlad didn't understand.
"I didn't actually contract the virus myself, but someone injected it into my body."
