Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1067: You're like a dog to me
It was almost dark by the time Eloise arrived at the hospital because of Silvia's antics.
"Why are you still coming over at this late hour?" Maryam's brow furrowed lightly as she saw her daughter walk in.
Eloise walked up to her and smiled, "I came over to keep you company, I was afraid you'd get bored."
Maryam laughed helplessly, "I've been reading to your grandfather for the past few days, how could I possibly be bored?"
"How's Grandpa?" Eloise sat down beside her and rested her head affectionately on her shoulder.
Maryam took her hand in hers, "Same as ever. But the doctor says if I keep talking to him, he can hear me and will slowly wake up." "Mum." Eloise called out softly.
"Hmm?"
"It's been hard on you."
At the word, Maryam turned her head.
Eloise sat up straight and locked eyes with her.
"Silly child, why are you saying that all of a sudden?" Maryam looked at her strangely.
"Nothing, it's just that I think you're having a hard time." Eloise took her hand back and said in a soft voice, "You are not well and yet you have to stay with Grandpa."
Maryam smiled, "Your grandfather is my father, it's only right that I stay with him. Besides, I haven't been there for him for the past one or two decades, I'm just making up for what I've missed in the past." The smile on Maryam's face slowly faded as she spoke, a hint of guilt lacing her voice.
Eloise lifted an arm around her shoulders and said in a very light-hearted tone, "Mum, Grandpa must be so happy to have you with him."
"Is he?" Maryam laughed and laughed to herself, "I'm afraid he'll wake up and see me and faint again."
"It won't happen." Eloise tightened her arm around her, "Don't look at Grandpa as being so serious and stubborn all the time, but he really misses you in his heart."
Maryam patted her hand, "Well, enough about that, tell me about you."
"My business?" Eloise raised her eyebrows, a bewildered look on her face, "What's my business?"
"When is Hector coming to take you back to the Rogers family?"
At the mention of Hector, Eloise couldn't help but feel a little down, "I don't know."
"What's he up to?" Maryam asked again.
"He's got work to do, he's not going to be done that quickly for a while I guess."
Hector had only been gone for two or three days, and it was surprising that she felt as if it had been a long time.
Eloise couldn't help but let out a soft sigh.
Maryam heard this and smiled, "What? You miss him, don't you?"
Being read by her mother, Eloise instantly blushed, "I ... where did I?"
"You're blushing and you're saying no?" Maryam looked at her prodigiously.
Eloise raised her hand to her cheek and defended herself stiffly, "It's hot."
Maryam laughed, "Okay, okay, it's hot."
Eloise hugged her and rested her head on her shoulder, pouting, "Mum, when Grandpa wakes up and you're feeling better, I'll take you out, okay?" "Sure." Maryam stroked her head, "Take Sweety and Solomon with you then."
"Mmm!" Eloise hugged her close.
It was as if this was the only place she could replace a glimmer of belonging.
Maybe it was because she missed Hector so much.
--
Rowson had been acting aggressive these past few days, helping out whoever asked him to, even George's bossing around, and he'd put up with it. "Rowson, make me a cup of coffee." George came out of the lab and shouted at Rowson who was sorting out the lab equipment.
Rowson turned his head, smiled and nodded, "Yes, make it for you right away."
George gave him a dismissive glance, "Come on."
"Good."
Watching George turn and go into the lab, the smile on Rowson's face instantly faded and was replaced with an icy expression.
"I really don't get you." Katerina walked over and looked him up and down, "I thought you didn't like George before, why are you so subservient to him now?" Rowson glanced at her and headed for the pantry without saying a word.
His indifference made Katerina uncomfortable.
She followed.
"What the hell are you fighting about?" Katerina followed Rowson in lockstep.
Suddenly, Rowson gave a start.
Katerina didn't react for a moment and ran straight into his back, stumbling backwards twice before she could stand.
Rowson turned around, his warm gaze falling on her face, his thin lips parting, "My business is none of your business."
At that, Katerina snorted, "Yes, it's none of my business. But I warn you, you'd better not get any ideas, or Bergerian won't let you off the hook."
It was more of a warning than a warning.
She didn't want to see him have a miserable end.
After all, Bergerian hated it when one of his men had second thoughts.
But Rowson didn't understand her intentions and just assumed she was spying on him for Bergerian.
"As I said, my business is none of your business."
Rowson gave her a cold look and strode into the pantry.
Katerina stood where she was, her exquisitely made-up face full of annoyance; why did he look like a log? Not true.
He wasn't like this with Eloise.
The thought of that woman made Katerina feel irritated.
If Rowson had any thoughts at all, it would be because of Eloise.
Katerina narrowed her eyes, no, she could not let that woman Eloise ruin Rowson.
Rowson walked out of the pantry with his coffee, Katerina was already gone and his eyes flickered slightly.
He walked outside the lab and raised his hand and knocked gently on the door.
Soon the door opened.
It was George.
He glanced at the coffee Rowson was holding, and there was a glint of mischief in his eyes.
Taking the coffee, he took a sip and nodded, "Well, it's a flavour I like."
Following this, he looked at Rowson askance, "Rowson, you're like a dog I keep, so obedient."
The words were humiliating.
Rowson's eyes narrowed and his hands fell to his side, clenching quietly.
George leaned in and whispered in his ear, "It's the obedient dogs that are pleasing to the eye."
On purpose.
George was doing it on purpose, deliberately trying to provoke him.
Rowson gritted his teeth, stifled the anger that was raging in his chest and forced a smile, "I think obedient dogs are pleasing too, that's why Professor Curry likes you so much." At these words George burst into a rage, "Rowson!"
Rowson was still smiling, "What's the matter, did I say something wrong?"
"You!"
George had intended to humiliate him, but he hadn't expected him to humiliate him in return.
Rowson looked at him calmly, "George, we both work for the Bergerian and I want us to be at peace, so I'll do whatever you tell me to do, not because I'm afraid of you or anything else."
