Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1082: Listen to me
"What are you thinking, cousin?" Eloise looked suspiciously at Edgar who was lost in thought. Edgar looked back and smiled, "Nothing."
"Oh. I thought you were thinking about Edwina."
Eloise joked, making Edgar lose his smile, "What am I thinking about her for?"
"Well..." Eloise thought seriously, "I actually have an idea, would you like to hear it?"
"Go ahead."
"I thought you didn't like Elva? Then you could replace someone to pretend to be your girlfriend and put your brother-in-law off the idea of setting you up with someone else for a while." "Wow." Edgar let out a gasp, "That's a great idea you've got there."
Eloise raised her chin in triumph, "That it is, and don't think about who I am."
"You're Eloise, my cousin." Edgar flicked her on the forehead and said, "You're not thinking of pretending to be a girlfriend. Isn't that a blatant lie to my mother?"
Eloise rubbed her forehead, "Well, it just occurred to me."
Otherwise, with his brother-in-law's obsession with having grandchildren, he would have tried everything to set him up with Elva until it worked.
"I'd rather get it off my chest than lie to my mother." Edgar shrugged his shoulders.
"Fine." Eloise pursed her lips, "Let's pretend I never mentioned this."
Edgar leaned in close to her and locked his gaze on her small face, "Tell me honestly, who do you want me to get to pretend to be my girlfriend?"
Eloise took a step back and averted her eyes uncomfortably, "Who else?"
Edgar raised an eyebrow, "Edwina?"
"Well, it's her." Eloise rubbed her nose and explained, "I just think she's nice and suits you."
Edgar thrust his hands into his trouser pockets and laughed helplessly, "That's just you thinking. I've already said that I just want to work on my career right now, I don't want to be in a relationship." "If you don't want to talk, your brother-in-law will force you to do so."
"Then we'll take a step." Edgar stroked her head, "Let's go, it's time to eat."
Watching his back as he headed for the restaurant, Eloise sighed softly.
"Mummy, doesn't brother-in-law like Auntie Earlene?" Solomon suddenly asked.
Eloise was shocked and looked down at him in surprise, "How do you know your brother-in-law likes Auntie Earlene?"
"I can tell."
Eloise frowned, "Saw it?"
This guy, so young to be able to read such things?
"Yeah. Uncle Junior always stares at Aunty Earlene, just like Daddy always stares at you."
Eloise laughed, "So that's what happened."
She half crouched down, level with Solomon, and said seriously, "Your brother-in-law doesn't like Auntie Earlene anymore, and you're not going to mention Auntie Earlene again, okay?" "Why?" Solomon asked, puzzled.
"Why?" Eloise thought for a moment, "Because when Auntie Earlene is mentioned, your brother-in-law gets upset. You wouldn't want your brother-in-law to be upset, would you?" Solomon nodded.
"That's right then, don't mention Auntie Earlene in the future."
It was actually Eloise who didn't want to mention Earlene again, thinking that she had treated her as a good friend and she was coveting her husband.
It simply had the awful feeling that a piece of her heart had been fed to the dogs.
...
After dinner, Eloise took the two children upstairs.
Once in her room, she took out her phone and dialed for a video call.
Soon, the line was answered and Hector appeared on the phone screen.
"Solomon, Sweety, come and see Daddy."
As Eloise shouted, the two little ones, who were still running around the room, ran to her side and shouted in unison at Hector on the phone screen, "Daddy."
Seeing the two young faces, Hector felt that all the fatigue of the day had vanished, and the lines of his cold, hard face softened as he looked at them with gentle eyes. "Daddy, when are you coming back?" Sweety asked in a milky voice.
Hector smiled slightly, his voice gentle, "Soon, you have to be good, okay?"
Sweety nodded, "Yeah, I know."
Hector's eyes moved to Solomon beside her and father and son stared at each other in silence, neither speaking.
Eloise, long used to this, stroked Solomon's head, "Solomon misses you too."
Hector's brow twitched slightly as he spoke slowly, "I miss you too."
"Daddy, Daddy, what are you doing now?" Sweety stared at Hector on the screen.
"Daddy's looking at something."
"Looking at what kind of stuff?"
"Papers."
"What's a file?"
Sweety kept asking questions and Hector was patient enough to answer them all.
Finally Eloise couldn't take it anymore and brought the phone over, "Come on Sweety, Daddy has to be busy, so stop bothering him, okay?"
Sweety pouted, "But I still want to talk to Daddy."
"We'll video him when Daddy's done, okay?" Eloise coaxed patiently.
Sweety was reluctant, but knew that mummy daddy liked good kids who listened, so she reluctantly nodded, "Okay."
"Good girl." Eloise stroked her head and said to Hector on the phone, "Go ahead and get busy, we'll video when you're done."
Hector gazed at her deeply and didn't rush to turn the video off.
"What's wrong?" Eloise asked.
"I miss you."
That was how bluntly he expressed his longing in front of the child.
Eloise glared at him, "Well, don't say that in front of the baby."
At that moment, Sweety was heard saying to Solomon, "Brother, daddy misses mummy."
"Well, mummy misses daddy too." Solomon said.
"Don't talk nonsense." Eloise turned her head and glared at them in feigned displeasure. Sweety gave a surprised look, "Mommy doesn't miss daddy?"
Eloise was at a loss for words.
"Of course mummy misses daddy." Solomon answered for Eloise with certainty.
"Then we're not talking nonsense." Sweety looked at her brother Solomon.
Solomon nodded, "Well, it's not nonsense."
Eloise was amused by the two little ones and she shook her head, "Okay, you're not talking nonsense, go and play by yourselves while Mummy and Daddy have a few words." When the two little ones walked away, Eloise returned her attention to Hector on the phone screen.
She looked at him, "I met another friend today."
"Who?"
"A rather pretty little girl."
Hector frowned, "You should try to go out as little as possible these days and have less contact with people you don't know, okay?"
"What's wrong?" Eloise asked, puzzled.
"Don't ask, just do as I say."
He didn't want to tell her that the Bergerian side might make a move on her for fear it would cause her and the Khan family to panic, but it was important to take precautions. Eloise had to nod in agreement, "Okay, I'll try not to go out."
He must have had his reasons for giving her such an explanation, and all she could do was to listen to him and not cause him any more trouble.
