Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1109: Just a poor man

"We came to see Earlene because we have something very important to ask her." Edgar softened his tone.

Rawlins sighed, "I really don't know where she is and I'm looking for her."

All three men fell silent.

It was a long time before Rawlins spoke again, "What are you looking for her for?"

"She doesn't know where she's taken me Hector." Edgar said.

"What?" Rawlins thought he had heard wrong, "Hector?"

He looked over at Eloise, only to see that she was so pale and bloodless that she looked like she was going to faint at any moment. Edgar nodded.

Rawlins still didn't believe it, "Are you guys mistaken, how could Hector, a big man, be taken anywhere by Earlene?"

Edgar laughed helplessly, "We wish we were mistaken, but that's the way it is. I don't know the way Earlene took the man away."

Rawlins thought of Earlene for what she was, a medical researcher.

It would be very easy indeed for her to take someone away.

But he still didn't want to accept that.

"I think you have the wrong person, there is no way Earlene would do such a thing."

Even though Earlene didn't usually treat him well, when it came to times like this, he tried to defend her.

Eloise snorted, "She's your sister, of course you speak for her. I suppose you know she likes my husband and approaches me only for my husband, don't you?"

Rawlins' face turned a little ugly and he averted his eyes, not daring to look at Eloise.

The heart was weak.

"I thought she was an adult and knew enough to restrain her feelings and not ruin my relationship with Hector, but the truth is, she was extremely selfish and snuck him away, forcing me and Hector apart. And you, being her brother, didn't even stop her."

Eloise's tone was calm, but the words came out like a hard slap in Rawlins' face.

Rawlins blushed for a moment and moved his lips, but in the end he said nothing.

"If you know where Earlene is, I hope you'll tell us so she doesn't make a bigger mistake." Edgar urged.

"I really don't know where she is." Rawlins smiled bitterly, "Perhaps you don't know how much she hates me as a brother. I advised her before she went to Italy, but she wouldn't listen and insisted on going."

At that, he looked frankly at Eloise, "I admit, I knew she was going to Hector."

Eloise closed her eyes and the hands that fell to her side clenched slowly.

She regretted it.

If she had followed Earlene to Italy as soon as she learned she was there, maybe there wouldn't have been so much behind her.

In the end, she was at fault too.

She opened her eyes and turned her head to Edgar, "Cousin, let's go back."

"Go back?" Edgar frowned, "We're not ..."

Eloise raised her eyes and looked at him, "I trust Mr Rawlins not to deceive us."

She turned her head to Rawlins, "He's just a poor man."

At those words Rawlins heart thumped, could she see that he liked Earlene?

"What are you talking about? Why can't I understand?" Edgar's brow furrowed tighter.

"Nothing, go back."

Eloise withdrew her eyes and turned to walk out the door.

"Rawlins, if you hear from Earlene, remember to let me know first."

"Good."

Edgar gave him a deep look before he turned to go after Eloise.

Rawlins watched them leave, and only when they were out of sight did he withdraw his eyes and drop back onto the sofa, a self-deprecating smile slowly curling the corners of his mouth.

He had been worried about Earlene, afraid that something might happen to her, but who knew that she had taken Hector into hiding with her.

It felt as if his heart had been fed to the dogs.

...

Ivor watched Edgar and Eloise get into the car and asked with concern, "How's it going? Any news of Miss Earlene's whereabouts?" Edgar shook his head, "No."

"Why?"

"Ivor, don't ask, just drive." Edgar sighed.

Seeing that they both looked bad, Ivor dared not ask any more questions and started the car in a hurry.

"Eloise, are you all right?" Edgar looked worriedly at Eloise who had closed her eyes as soon as she got into the car.

Eloise shook her head gently.

"Don't think too much, I'm sure Thomas and the others will replace Hector soon." Edgar said soothingly.

Eloise let out a soft 'mmm' and turned her head the other way.

Edgar was distressed to see a teardrop slip from the corner of her eye, but he didn't know how to comfort her.

He could only reach out and take her into his arms, resting her head on his shoulder and comforting her silently.

Tears slipped silently down her face, and Eloise bit her lip to keep from crying out.

Hector, where the hell are you?

...

Brimlad was shocked to see Edgar walk in with Eloise in his arms and rushed to greet her.

She glanced at Eloise, who seemed to be asleep, and asked in a small voice, "What brings you guys back all of a sudden?"

"Mum, I'll carry Eloise back to her room and talk to you later."

Brimlad nodded hastily, "Okay, you carry it up."

Edgar carried Eloise upstairs and placed her gently on the bed, pulling the covers over her and gently wiping away the teardrops that still hung on her eyelashes. "Eloise, don't think about anything else, just get a good night's sleep." He said softly.

Following that, he turned and left the room and went downstairs.

Brimlad was waiting for him downstairs and immediately greeted him when he saw him coming down, "What's wrong?"

Edgar gave her a look, not rushing to answer, but walked over to the living room sofa and sat down.

Brimlad hurried over to follow.

"Say something, you boy." Brimlad was anxious.

"Mom, Hector's missing."

"Huh?" Brimlad locked his eyebrows, "What are you talking about?"

She thought he was joking.

Edgar looked up with a slightly helpless expression, "Mum, I'm not making this up, Hector's really missing."

Brimlad was still a little unconvinced, "How could he be missing when he's that old?"

"It was taken away from him." Edgar said.

"Who?"

"Earlene."

At the familiar name, Brimlad's eyes widened in shock, "Who did you ... you say?" "Earlene, Earlene."

"How?" Brimlad shook his head, "No, what did she take Hector for?"

"Mom, there's actually something Eloise and I haven't been telling you." "What?"

"The person Earlene likes is Hector."

This incident shocked Brimlad even more than the earlier one, "How is that possible?"

Edgar tugged at the corner of his mouth, "You like her so much that you've overlooked things. If you look closely, you'll see that she looks at Hector differently." "How?" Brimlad dropped onto the couch, disbelief written all over her face.

How she hadn't thought that the person Earlene liked was Hector was too overwhelming.
