Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1116: A little ridiculous
Eloise led Solomon out of the restaurant just in time to see the scene and deliberately asked, "Sweety, what did you get your brother-in-law to do again?" The sudden voice startled Sweety, who saw Eloise approaching and rushed to hide in Edgar's arms.
Edgar stood up with her in his arms smoothly and smiled, "She didn't ask me to do anything, you scared her."
"Cousin, I'm her mother, I know her best."
The implication was that he didn't have to help Sweety lie to her.
Sweety turned her head, puffed out her cheeks and huffed, "I just want a biscuit."
At that, Eloise glared at her with feigned anger, "Have you forgotten how many biscuits you ate yesterday?"
Sweety stopped talking.
Because she had eaten the whole plate of biscuits yesterday.
Eloise couldn't help but laugh at her pouting, aggrieved look, "Sweety, do you know that eating too many biscuits makes you fat?"
Sweety shook her head no.
"Mummy told you that biscuits are sweet, too many sweet things will make you fat and you won't be cute then."
Don't look at Sweety as a little girl, she cares most about her image.
So as soon as she heard that she would get fat, she immediately shook her head, "Then I won't eat them, I won't eat them anymore."
Edgar laughed, "You won't gain weight if you eat less."
Sweety cocked her head, thought hard and said, "Then I'll eat two, no, three biscuits a day from now on."
Eloise nodded, "Okay, three biscuits a day from now on. Does that make you happy?"
"Yeah." Sweety nodded heavily.
Edgar put her down, "Go and play with your brother while I have a word with your mummy."
Once Solomon heard that, he came over and took Sweety's hand, "Let's go play with the blocks."
"I'm going to build a really, really tall house." Sweety said.
As she watched the two children walk hand in hand towards the play area, Eloise withdrew her eyes to look at Edgar, "What do you want to say, cousin?" "Thomas called me and said that Bergerian will be at City J in the next two days and to try and stay out."
Eloise furrowed her brow, "Is he crazy? Why is he chasing me into the country?"
"They won't give up as long as the virus is still in your system." Edgar looked worried, "I'll put more people in place to protect you."
"Cousin, I'm sorry for worrying you." Eloise looked at him apologetically.
Edgar feigned displeasure and asked, "What do you mean sorry, do you treat me like an outsider?"
"No." Eloise gave a helpless smile, "I just feel like I've caused you a lot of trouble because of me."
He had only just taken over the Khan Group for a short time and was busy at the moment, but he had been delayed a lot because of her.
"Don't say such unkind words as a family." Edgar looked at her with a gentle smile, "Remember, no matter what happens, we're still here for you."
Eloise's nostrils flared and her tears were barely contained as she tried to squeeze out a smile, "Yeah, I know."
"Don't get your head in the clouds. I'm going to go upstairs and change." Edgar said.
Eloise nodded, "Okay."
Watching him go upstairs, Eloise only lifted her steps towards the two children who were having a good time.
...
As soon as Edgar entered the room, he took off his suit jacket, he felt his pockets out of habit and suddenly felt a hard object.
He took it out and looked at it; it was a small toy he had seen at the office during the day.
A helpless smile curled the corners of his mouth; he really was busy, so busy that he had forgotten about it.
He took out his phone, looked through his call history, found Edwina's number and dialled it straight away.
Edwina was busy in the kitchen preparing dinner, she was late from work today and it was already almost seven o'clock when she got home.
Fortunately, Bonnie knew how to behave. If it was any other child, she would have made a scene after being hungry for so long.
When her phone rang, she was chopping vegetables and had no time to go out and answer the phone, so she could only raise her voice and shout, "Bonnie, help mum see who's calling, if it's a strange number just hang up." There had been a lot of scam calls recently, so she didn't answer any unfamiliar numbers.
"Okay." Bonnie's voice came from outside.
Bonnie ran over and saw that it was a number with no name stored on it, so she thought it was an unknown number and just pressed it off. No answer?
Edgar looked at the dimmed phone screen with a puzzled expression.
He laughed and didn't call again.
Putting his toys and phone on the table, he walked into the bathroom and closed the door.
"Who is it?" Edwina asked as she wiped her hands and walked out of the kitchen.
"Strange number." Bonnie answered truthfully.
Edwina picked up her phone and opened it, tensing up as soon as she saw the missed number.
"Bonnie, this is not an unfamiliar number, it's clearly ..."
Bonnie looked confused, "It doesn't have a name saved, isn't it an unfamiliar number?"
"Of course not." Edwina didn't know how to explain it to him, so she called back.
The sound of rushing water in the bathroom drowned out the ringing of the phone.
It rang for a long time until it stopped on its own.
Edwina called a few more times, but still no one answered.
"Is it angry?" Edwina couldn't help but be chagrined; she should have just come out to see for herself so she wouldn't have missed his call.
Seeing the look of loss on her face, Bonnie asked cautiously, "Mum, is it an important call?"
Edwina turned her head to look at him and smiled to herself, "No, it's not an important call."
That was what she said, but she was still more than a little disappointed.
"Was it that phone call from Uncle Edgar?" Bonnie asked again.
"How did you know?" Edwina was amazed.
Bonnie spat out her tongue, "Guess."
Edwina lost her smile, "Then you guessed pretty well."
"Because..."
Bonnie looked like she wanted to say something, Edwina, Edwina frowned, "Just say what you have to say, don't stammer."
"Because I think mum seems to like Uncle Edgar."
"I... like him?" Edwina was in a bit of disbelief.
"Yeah, because lately you've been chattering about Uncle Edgar," Bonnie said, eating a little as she said it.
"I've been chanting because I'm worried about you Aunt Eloise, which is not like ..." Edwina thought it was a bit ridiculous, she had only met Edgar a few times, how could she possibly like him? "Really no?" Bonnie still didn't believe it.
Edwina nodded her head, "No, really, no."
She answered firmly, as if she was warning herself.
Whether she liked Edgar or not, it wasn't something she could afford to get high on.
Bonnie sighed in relief, "That's good."
His reaction was a little strange and Edwina frowned, "Bonnie, are you scared that I have a crush on someone?"
"No." Bonnie shook her head like a rattle.
"It's okay if you do." Edwina took a deep breath, "Whether or not I have a favorite later on, you're still my son."
"Mum, I ..." Bonnie was a little ashamed all of a sudden, he was indeed afraid that she would have a favourite.
Because he was afraid that once she had someone she liked, she wouldn't want herself.
Edwina went over to him, stroked his head and said, "You'll always be my son."
"You'll always be my mum." Bonnie hugged her tightly.
Edwina hugged him, "Yes, always your mama."
