Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1117: Don't make a fool of yourself
After dinner, Bonnie watched a bit of TV and then dutifully went to her room to sleep.
Edwina cleaned up the kitchen and then went to Bonnie's room to check that he was covered before turning off the light for him. She takes her phone and sits down on the sofa in the living room.
She opens it and taps on the call log. Looking at the missed number, she debates whether to try again.
But after a long hesitation, she still didn't dial it.
Finally, she turned the phone off and put it next to her, sinking back into the sofa and staring up at the ceiling.
Remembering the first time she'd met Edgar.
"You're a chauffeur?" Edgar's tone at the time was suspicious.
Probably not expecting her to be out as a substitute driver so late at night.
So she patted herself on the back and assured him, "Don't worry, I've been driving for five years and you don't look like a bad guy, do you?" He smiled.
It was the first time she'd ever thought a man's smile looked that good.
"Ah!"
Edwina grabbed a cushion aside to cover her face.
What the hell was going on?
Why was she suddenly remembering this?
Was it just like Bonnie had said, that she had a crush on someone?
No way!
She sat up straight and shook her head, "No way, I can't possibly like him. Yes, there's no way!"
With that, she threw away the pillow and got up to go take a shower to clear her head.
Just then, the phone suddenly rang.
Her heart missed a beat with shock.
She walked over and saw that it was Edgar calling.
Her heart involuntarily started beating fast.
She took a deep breath and picked it up, "Hello, this is Edwina."
"Miss. Edwina, hello."
Edgar's low voice came through and Edwina subconsciously gripped the phone, "Hello."
"It's so late, I won't disturb you, will I?"
"No, no."
She almost blurted out, then she realised that she had answered too quickly and hurried to remedy the situation, "Young people don't get to rest that early these days." Edgar on the other side of the phone gave a low chuckle.
Edwina's heart felt like it was about to jump out of her throat.
She cursed herself for being so useless, it was just an ordinary phone call, so she was so nervous, was it necessary?
She took a deep breath and waited for her heart to calm down before she cautiously asked, "What can I do for you?"
Edgar looked out of the window at the dark sky, the corners of his mouth curled up, "I wanted to tell you that Eloise is back."
"Miss. Eloise is back?"
Edgar couldn't help but laugh, "Miss. Edwina, is your house soundproof?"
"Soundproof?"
Edwina was half a beat slower to realise that this was his flirtation.
She covered her burning cheeks and muttered in a small voice, "It's not like I'm very loud."
Edgar heard her and laughed, then turned the conversation around and said, "Your son left a toy in my office, see when you can come to my house to pick it up and see Eloise on the way." "Yes, I'll be there tomorrow."
She didn't need him to mention that she wanted to go and see Miss. Eloise too.
"Do you know the address?" Edgar asked.
"No."
"Then I'll send it to you later and you can just tell the driver."
"Okay, thanks."
After that, both men were silent.
The atmosphere was a little awkward.
"If there's nothing else, that's it." Edwina spoke first to break the silence. "Well, bye."
"Bye."
Edwina hung up the phone and a feeling of loss suddenly came over her.
But it was quickly suppressed and she laughed to herself, "People are calling you Miss. Edwina, so don't make a fool of yourself."
She took a deep breath before lifting her steps towards the bathroom.
...
The next day.
Eloise was going to take her two children to the hospital to see their mother and grandfather, but at breakfast, her cousin suddenly told her that Edwina was coming to see her. She had no choice but to tell the children that she would take them to see their grandmother and great-grandfather tomorrow.
Sweety was a bit reluctant, "But I'm going today because I miss Grandma."
"Sweety, be a good girl, tomorrow, tomorrow Mummy will take you and your brother to see Grandma, okay?" Eloise assured her.
"No, I want to go today." Sweety was in rare disobedience.
Eloise thought about it and said, "Okay then, I'll ask Uncle Driver to take you, okay?"
"What about Mummy?" Sweety asked.
"Aunt Edwina is coming to the house for a visit and Mummy has to entertain her."
"Aunt Edwina?" frowned Sweety, "And will Mr. Bonnie be coming?"
"Of course he will."
As soon as Sweety heard that, she immediately said, "Then I won't go to the hospital."
At this, Eloise couldn't help but laugh, "Why aren't you going again? Is it because of Mr. Bonnie?"
"I'm not telling you." Sweety turned and ran away.
Eloise shook her head and laughed, "That little girl."
"What's wrong?" Brimlad asked suspiciously as he approached.
"Nothing." Eloise turned her head, "Auntie, I have a friend coming over later."
"Yes?" Brimlad was pleasantly surprised, "You've made a new friend."
"Well, a very nice girl."
Happy that she had made another friend, Brimlad smiled and said, "I'll go and prepare your snacks first then."
Without waiting for Eloise to respond, she turned and headed for the kitchen.
Eloise wanted to say that she didn't have to bother, but it was already too late, so she just let her go, as she loved making desserts anyway.
Around ten o'clock, Edwina took Bonnie to the old Khan family home.
Bonnie was curious about everything and looked around with a new look on her baby face.
"Edwina," Eloise said, looking at them with a smile on her Brimlad face.
Seeing her standing safe and sound in front of her, Edwina's eyes couldn't help but redden, "Miss. Eloise."
"Why are you crying?" Eloise was a little confused.
Edwina hurriedly wiped her tears away and grinned, "I'm crying because I'm so happy."
Eloise smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry to have worried you."
"Miss. Eloise, you don't have to apologise." Edwina said in a rush, "I'm really so happy that you're back safe and sound."
"Good, I know you're happy. Come on in and sit down."
Eloise led her and Bonnie to the living room and sat down, turning to the maid, "Go upstairs and call those two little ones down for me and tell them that Mr. Bonnie is here." "Yes." The servant took orders and hurried upstairs.
"Are Solomon and Sweety here too?" Edwina was surprised.
"Well, my cousin came to City J a couple of days ago to pick them up for a few days."
No sooner had Eloise said that than a leaping voice was heard, "Mr. Bonnie."
It was Sweety.
She ran up to Bonnie on short legs, a big, happy smile on her pretty, baby face. "Sweety," Bonnie said, just as happy.
Solomon looked much more subdued compared to them, "Hello Aunt Edwina." He didn't forget to greet Edwina first.
