Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1123: I'm not his girlfriend

Near the end of the day, Edgar received a call from his mother. "Edgar, you have to get your present today or don't come home."

Edgar cried and laughed as his mother's threatening words came through the receiver, "Mom, isn't there still a few days left? Is there a need to be in such a hurry?" "I'm just afraid you'll forget. You have to get this done today anyway."

The tone of his mother's voice, which was unquestionable, made Edgar feel powerless and he sighed, "Yes, I know, I promise to finish the task."

At this, Brimlad hung up the phone with a sense of satisfaction.

"Auntie, wouldn't that be a bit much?" Eloise asked cautiously as she blinked aside.

Knowing full well that her cousin didn't like that Ainsley, she had to force him to buy someone a birthday present.

"Excessive?" Brimlad asked instead of answering.

Eloise laughed dryly, "It's a little too much."

"If it's too much, it's too much." Brimlad said with disinterest.

She walked to the other end of the sofa and sat down, Eloise rushed over to her.

"Auntie, what if cousin chooses a present that Ainsley doesn't like?"

It wasn't that she was being alarmist, but she didn't believe that her cousin, a big man, would know how to pick a gift.

Brimlad was anxious, "What then?"

What if the gift wasn't to her liking and she pissed Ainsley off?

Eloise shook her head to show she didn't know.

"You child." Brimlad frowned at the thought, "Why don't you go with your cousin, you're a girl, surely you know what Ainsley would like." "Me?" Eloise shook her head, "I don't want to, what do I know about picking out presents."

"Then what? You can't just stand by and watch this marriage with your cousin fall through again."

Eloise: "..."

She couldn't afford that, but she didn't want to go out, and her cousin had told her to stay out as little as possible in the meantime. Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind.

She smiled, "Auntie, I know someone who can help."

"Who?"

"Edwina. She'd be especially happy to help."

Eloise said as she pulled out her phone.

Brimlad frowned, "Is that a good idea? Would it be too much trouble?"

"No, Edwina will be happy to help."

Eloise dialed Edwina's number and it was soon answered.

"Miss. Eloise."

Eloise looked at Brimlad and spoke, "Edwina, I have a favour to ask you."

...

Edgar stepped out of the lift and glanced down at the message on his phone screen.

"Cousin, I've got a counsellor for you, she's waiting for you in front of the office." A counsellor?

Edgar couldn't help but laugh, it's just a gift, is there a need to go through all this trouble? "Hello, President."

The staff along the road greeted him, and he nodded with a smile, looking up at the door.

He looked up at the door and saw the slender figure next to the pillar.

He unconsciously quickened his pace.

Edwina felt out of place, leaning towards the pillar in an attempt to reduce her presence as the fashionably dressed workers came out in twos and threes. She lowered her head and stared at the tips of her shoes.

To be honest, she was happy to receive the call from Miss. Eloise.

But for the moment, she regretted it a little.

Ainsley was the daughter of a wealthy family, how could she know what they liked.

I wonder if it's too late to say no.

"Been waiting a long time."

A familiar voice suddenly rang in her ears.

She hurriedly looked up and was unexpectedly met with a pair of deep, ink-like eyes.

Her heart beat and missed a beat.

Her face flushed undeniably and she hurriedly lowered her head, whispering, "Soon." Edgar didn't notice that she was out of place and smiled, "Let's go." "Mmm."

She followed his lead towards the car.

"Get in." Edgar held the car door open for her.

She said "thank you" in a flattered voice and quickly got into the car. Bang!

The sound of the door slamming shut was like a hammer to her heart.

"Put your seat belt on." Edgar said as he started the car.

Edwina hurriedly fastened her seatbelt, her back straightened and she looked straight ahead, not daring to look at him at all.

Seeing this, Edgar couldn't help but laugh, "Don't be nervous, you and Eloise are friends, just like her, think of me as an older brother, it's more friendly." Edwina said "yes" timidly.

The car was quiet for the rest of the way and neither of them spoke.

It was only when the car was parked in the underground car park of the mall that Edgar asked, "Do you have any good suggestions?"

"Huh?" Edwina turned her head and looked at him blankly.

Edgar laughed, "You're a girl too, you should know what girls in general like."

"Should... should."

"You seem to have very little confidence?" Edgar turned his head to look at her.

"No, I'm just afraid I won't be able to give any good advice." Edwina's voice got smaller as she spoke.

"That's okay, I'm giving it away anyway, not you."

...

The mall was quite crowded at this time of the day and Edwina followed Edgar closely, afraid she might lose him.

Edgar looked around at the counters and frowned slightly, "What do you think would be a better gift?"

"Well..." Edwina thought hard, "Jewelry or a bag?"

Edgar nodded, "That's what I was thinking."

"Come on, let's go check out the jewellery."

He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the jewellery shop not far away.

Edwina stared in amazement at his hand gripping her wrist.

The warmth of his palm ironed the muscles of her wrist. Her heart was beating fast.

As soon as she entered the jewellery shop, the shop assistant greeted her warmly, "Welcome, sir and miss, how can I help you?"

"What kind of jewellery do you have for a birthday present for a girl?" Edgar asked.

When the shop assistant heard the words "birthday gift", he subconsciously looked at Edwina beside him and said with a smile, "Yes, please follow me here."

The shop assistant led them to a counter.

Inside the glass counter were various diamond rings, the diamonds glittering brightly under the lights.

"The rings here are all carefully designed by our designers and have different symbolic meanings. Sir, if you are looking for a gift for your girlfriend, this one would be perfect." The shop assistant took out a diamond ring and placed it on the counter, "This diamond ring is the new one that just came on, it means sweet and happy love."

Edgar smiled apologetically, "Sorry, I'm not giving it to my girlfriend."

"No?" The shop assistant was surprised, "I thought you were giving it to this young lady."

"Me?" Edwina shook her head hurriedly, "No, it's not for me, and I'm not his girlfriend either."

The shop assistant smiled shyly, "I'm sorry, I misunderstood."

"It's okay, is there anything else?" Edgar didn't think anything of it.

It was Edwina who was inexplicably a bit stuffy inside, she forced out a smile, "I think the ring is nice."
