Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1124: Ridiculous Thoughts
"Are you sure about giving the ring?" Edgar tilted his head and looked at her quizzically.
"Bad?" Edwina asked instead of answering.
Edgar laughed, "Of course it's not good. Elva and I aren't even friends, what are people going to think if I give her a ring out of the blue." "Isn't she your blind date?"
Edwina wasn't supposed to ask such a personal question, but she couldn't resist, inexplicably wanting to hear from him about his attitude towards Elva.
"A blind date?" Edgar frowned and explained rather helplessly, "I was actually tricked by my mother that day, I didn't even know she was going on a blind date with Elva." "So, you're not planning on getting married yet?"
"I ..." Edgar was about to reply when he suddenly realised they were getting off topic and smiled helplessly, "We're here to buy presents, we'll talk about that later."
Edwina also realized that she had stretched her hand too far and hastily explained, "I just asked in passing, I didn't mean to pry into your privacy."
"I know." Edgar didn't mind.
He turned to the shop assistant and said, "No need for the ring, introduce us to the rest."
"Good. Follow me this way, please."
The clerk led them to another counter.
"Here are necklaces and bracelets for you to look at."
Edgar looked at them, they all looked similar and he couldn't pick which one was prettier.
"Edwina, you choose." He said.
"Me?" Edwina pointed at herself in surprise.
"Hmm."
Edwina hesitated a little, "Does it fit? It's something you're giving away, you're supposed to pick it."
"It's okay, I'll let you pick, you pick."
When he said that, Edwina couldn't say anything else, so she approached the counter and picked it out very carefully.
Edgar was looking at the necklace, but somehow his eyes couldn't help but move to Edwina.
Her skin was very fair, and the bright light in the shop made it even fairer.
Beneath her long, arched eyelashes, her eyes were particularly clean and clear, her nose was small and cute, and her red lips were slightly open, seemingly inviting to be picked. What are you thinking?
Startled by his own thoughts, Edgar looked up and rubbed his brow, a helpless smile spilling out of the corner of his mouth.
How could such a ridiculous thought have occurred to him?
"Mr Farabee, I think this one is good."
Edwina turned her head, saw him rubbing his brow and said hurriedly, "What's wrong with you? Don't you feel well?"
Edgar raised his eyes and met her clear pupils, full of concern, and a strange feeling crossed his heart.
Edwina frowned at the tip of his brow, but he ignored the feeling and smiled, "I'm fine. Which one did you pick?"
Edwina saw that he looked as usual, nothing different, and only then was she relieved to point at a necklace on the counter and say, "This one. It's pretty and a girl should like it better."
Edgar looked in the direction she was pointing.
It was a diamond necklace that looked quite plain to him.
"Are you sure?" Edgar asked.
"Hmm." Edwina nodded, "The pendant is in the shape of a four-leaf clover. Isn't it said in the West that replaceing a four-leaf clover is a sign of great luck? I thought it would be best to use this necklace for a birthday." "You like it?" Edgar asked again.
Edwina smiled shyly, "I do like it, but I can't afford it."
Edgar gave her a deep look and turned to the shop assistant, "Just this one."
The clerk took it out and asked, "Want to try it on?"
"Sure."
Edgar took the necklace from the clerk and handed it to Edwina, "Try it on."
Edwina didn't dare to take it and shook her head, "No, it's something you want to give to someone else, it won't fit if I try it on for you."
"How will you know if it fits or not if you don't try it on?" Edgar deliberately put on his face.
"Fine."
Edgar unlocked the clasp, "I'll put it on for you."
"Okay." Edwina ruffled her hair.
As he drew closer, a breath of his crisp, clean scent came over her, instantly enveloping her entire body.
She subconsciously held her breath and her face flushed indefinitely.
"What are you doing?"
The sudden sound of a sharp female voice startled Edwina's heart and she hurriedly turned her head to follow the sound.
It was Elva.
She stomped on her ten-centimetre high heels and strode aggressively towards them.
Edgar fastened the necklace and looked down to see the obvious fear on Edwina's face and couldn't help but whisper, "Don't be afraid, I'll take care of it." Edwina looked up.
Four eyes meet.
Edgar gave her a reassuring smile before turning his head towards Elva.
Elva could never have imagined that she was just out for a shopping trip and she would be shown such an unpleasant scene.
The man she liked was helping another woman with her necklace?
"Edgar, you've gone too far!" As soon as she approached, she blurted out her accusation to Edgar.
Edgar raised an eyebrow and asked back with a wry smile, "Miss. Ainsley, how am I going too far?"
"You ..." Elva was stumped by the question and could only turn the tables on Edwina, "Why did you seduce Edgar, you vixen?" "Miss. Ainsley, I ..."
Edwina tried to explain herself clearly, who knew that Edgar had pulled her behind himself.
"Mr Farabee." she cast him a puzzled look, what was he up to?
"This is my business, you don't have to explain." Edgar reassured her.
"But..." Edwina glanced at Elva who was staring at her with hatred as if she had done something ten times worse.
"I'm here."
Edgar gestured for her to take a moment and then turned his eyes to Elva.
"Miss. Ainsley, isn't it beneath you to swear at random people like that?"
Elva's face twisted with jealousy at seeing him protect the woman, and now that she heard him ask that question, she was furious and cursed under her breath, "Vixen! Shame on you, seducing someone else's man, shame on you." Edgar's face sank, "Miss. Ainsley! Please apologise to her!"
"Apologise?" Elva laughed out loud as if she had heard an absurd joke, "Apologies are not in my Elva's vocabulary!"
She glared at Edwina who was hiding behind him, her hands clenched, "Edgar, don't forget what kind of relationship you have with me, in the future our two families will be joined in marriage."
At that, Edgar's brow furrowed.
A marriage?
Edwina's face turned white.
Elva took a deep breath and continued, "You can be here today with another woman buying a necklace, and later you can have sex with another woman."
She was getting more and more outrageous.
Edgar, who had always been a good-tempered man, could not help but be angry, but he held back his anger and said in a deep voice, "Miss Ainsley, watch your mouth, Miss Edwina is just my friend, my relationship with her is not what you think it is."
"Is that so? Then why are you helping her with her necklace?" Elva didn't believe her.
"That's because it's a gift for you and Mr Farabee asked me to try it on." Edwina couldn't help but make a sound.
She was afraid that if this went on, the two of them would get into a bad mood.
