Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1151: People are all multi-faceted
Brimlad put down the candy in his hand and turned around, looking at her suspiciously, "Why don't you like Elva, haven't you only met once?"
Eloise laughed, "Auntie, some people only have to meet once to know what kind of person she is."
"So tell me what kind of person Elva is?" Brimlad was instantly curious.
"Can you say anything?" Eloise asked tentatively.
She didn't want to upset her by telling the truth later.
Brimlad nodded, "Well, anything."
"Then don't be offended if I'm honest." Eloise warned her beforehand.
"Won't be mad."
Reassured by Brimlad's assurance, Eloise said, "Elva is not as well-behaved as she seems. Just that one time we met, Edwina accidentally soiled her clothes and she got all huffy and demanded that someone pay her back." "She must have been angry when her clothes got dirty, and there's nothing wrong with having to pay for it in the first place."
Expecting her to speak for Elva, Eloise sighed, "Auntie, if your clothes had been soiled, would you have used a particularly aggressive and condescending attitude to ask someone to pay you back?" "That wouldn't be the case."
Eloise shrugged, "But Elva would, and Edwina didn't mean to do it, it was only when Elva pushed her that she knocked over that plate of snacks." "You're telling the truth?" Brimlad was a little unconvinced that Elva was such a person.
"Auntie, do you think I would lie to you?" Eloise asked instead of answering.
Brimlad laughed awkwardly, "Of course not. But... I still can't get over what you said, I remember Elva as a good and kind child, how could she ..."
"People are multifaceted." Eloise took a deep breath, turned her words and said, "Well, Auntie, let's not talk about it, hurry up and make the biscuits or it will be almost noon." "Good." Brimlad looked thoughtful as he watched her get busy.
If Elva was really what Eloise said she was, then she was going to have to reconsider her marriage to the Boone Family.
Then again, it was possible that Eloise had misunderstood.
...
After a morning of hard work, two large trays of biscuits were baked.
Eloise ate one and smiled with satisfaction, "They sure are good when you make them yourself,"
Brimlad gave her a look and shook his head in disbelief, "You're acting like a child."
"Of course I'm still a child in my brother-in-law's eyes." Eloise ran over and gave her a hug, feeling her body temperature and the tip of her nose tingled.
She hurriedly measured her head, sniffled, forced back her tears and asked in a lighter tone, "Don't you think so? Little aunt."
Brimlad filled the box with biscuits as he returned, "Yes, in my eyes you are still a child, a child who never grows up."
Eloise smiled as she watched her back, her vision fading.
"Is this enough?" Brimlad asked her as he turned his head.
She hurriedly turned her back and raised her hand to wipe away her tears.
Seeing this, Brimlad frowned, "What's wrong with you?"
Eloise turned back around and smiled, shaking her head, "Nothing, just a bit touched by how good the biscuits were." "Silly child." Brimlad believed what she was saying.
"Are these for Bonnie?" Eloise hurriedly changed the subject.
"Well, is it enough?"
A box full of biscuits.
Eloise nodded, "Yes, of course it's enough."
"So should we have Edwina come over to the house and pick them up, or have them delivered?" Brimlad asked. "I'll think about it."
Just then Thomas walked in, "Miss Eloise, are you done?"
At the sight of Thomas, Eloise's eyes lit up, "Thomas, why don't you deliver the biscuits to Edwina for me."
"Huh?" Thomas didn't react a bit.
"I'll tell you where Edwina works later, and you can deliver the biscuits for me." Eloise put the box with the biscuits into a paper bag and handed it to him. "But Miss Eloise, I'm here to talk to you about ..."
"We'll talk about that later." Eloise hurriedly interrupted him, fearing he might slip up.
She didn't want her brother-in-law and the others to know about her meeting with Bergerian, lest they worry.
"What is it?" Brimlad glanced at Thomas and then cast a quizzical look at Eloise.
"Nothing much."
Brimlad stared at Eloise and frowned, "Eloise, you're not hiding something from me again, are you?"
"How so?" Eloise laughed dryly, "How could I be hiding anything from you."
Brimlad didn't believe it and turned to Thomas, "Thomas, tell me, are you hiding something from me?"
Thomas saw Eloise scowling at him and shook his head with a smile, "Mrs. Brimlad, no. It's that my Mrs. Rupert is expecting and I came to ask Miss Eloise if she wanted to make a trip back to City J." Eloise smiled and agreed, "Yes, I forgot to tell you, Auntie."
"Aisly's having a baby." Brimlad was both surprised and surprised, "Your mother-in-law there is not going to be happy, another little baby in the house." Again, she was envious.
Eloise put her arm around her shoulders, "Soon there will be another little one here too, no, several."
Brimlad took her hand in his and smiled, "I hope what you say comes true."
"That will have to be."
Eloise turned to Thomas, "You deliver the biscuits to Edwina for me and I'll send you the address on your phone."
"Okay."
Thomas carried the biscuits and left.
Eloise sent the address to Thomas and then helped Brimlad tidy up the kitchen before going upstairs to see Solomon and Sweety.
...
It was close to noon when Edgar asked his assistant not to help with the food order and left work early.
Remembering the restaurant where Edwina worked, it was in the mall not far from the office.
He turned his head to look at the paper bag on the passenger seat, which contained the four-leaf clover necklace.
It was Edwina's birthday yesterday and he wanted to give her a birthday present, nothing more.
Although he was saying this to himself, the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned up.
The car pulled up in the car park outside the mall and he opened the door with his bag.
What he didn't expect was to see Thomas and Edwina outside the restaurant.
His feet couldn't help but stop and his eyes locked on the pair not far away.
"Miss Eloise asked me to bring this over." Thomas handed the bag to Edwina. "What is it?" Edwina took it and smiled, "It's biscuits."
"Well, it says it's for Bonnie."
Edwina lifted her head and smiled at Thomas, "Thank Miss. Eloise for me."
Thomas' eyes twinkled slightly, "Okay."
Both fell silent, a little awkwardly.
Edwina thought for a moment and asked, "Have you had lunch yet?"
"Not yet."
"Then I'll buy you, right here."
Thomas stared at her for a long moment before nodding slowly, "Okay."
Seeing them walk into the restaurant, one after the other, an unspoken rush of emotion came over them.
Edgar looked down at the bag in his hand, then at the restaurant, and turned to leave.
