Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1154: You are not to be trusted in the first place
The car pulled up outside the restaurant where she had made an appointment with Bergerian, Eloise inclined her head, her eyes looking through the car window, not a hint of expression on her clear little face. "Are you ready?" Edgar spoke up to break the silence in the car.
Eloise Edwina lifted the corner of her lips, "Ready."
As long as there was any hope of replaceing Hector, she would not hesitate to go in, even if there was a dragon's den ahead.
She opened the car door and was about to get out when Edgar hastily pulled her back. She looked up into his eyes, which were full of concern. "Be careful." He whispered.
She smiled, "Cousin, I'll be fine with you guys."
"Miss Eloise, let us know immediately if there's anything." Thomas admonished.
"Okay."
She turned her head and got out of the car.
The air in the car became oppressive as Edgar and Thomas watched her walk into the restaurant.
It was only after a long moment that Thomas spoke, "Mr Edgar, we must also be prepared to rush in and rescue Miss Eloise at any moment." Edgar said "yes" with a serious expression and said nothing more, keeping his eyes fixed on the restaurant.
Eloise walked into the restaurant and was immediately greeted by a waiter, "Is this Miss Eloise?"
"I am."
"The gentleman is waiting for you upstairs."
It was then that Eloise realised that there was no one in the restaurant and the ground floor was silent.
Perhaps sensing her confusion, the waiter explained, "The gentleman has taken the room."
A reservation?
Eloise's brow knitted slightly, and a sudden feeling of bad luck came over her.
"Miss Eloise, this way up, please." The waiter made a 'please' gesture.
Eloise took a deep breath and headed for the corner staircase.
Whatever awaited her ahead, there was no turning back.
...
In the booth, Lisa took an impatient sip of coffee and turned to Matthew, "When is that woman coming, anyway?" "Back ma'am, soon."
"Soon?" Lisa sneered, "We've been waiting here for over half an hour, and it's still soon. I don't think she's coming." "She'll come."
Compared to her impatience, Bergerian was much calmer.
He stirred his coffee gently with a spoon, his handsome face unruffled, calm and collected.
"Do you know her well?" His sure tone irritated Lisa, "What is it about her that attracts you to her that makes you come thousands of miles to replace her?" Bergerian gave her a bland look, "Want to hear the truth?"
"Of course."
Bergerian took a sip from his coffee, a hint of wistfulness in his eyes, his thin lips parted, "She was an angel."
He thought back to that night when Eloise had crashed into his heart like an angel.
"An angel?" Lisa couldn't help but laugh, her smile full of sarcasm, "Unfortunately in her eyes, you're the devil."
"Angels and demons..." Bergerian curled his lips in a smile, "Nice, I like that."
"Bergerian!" fumed Lisa, "Don't you forget that I'm your wife!"
"Don't worry, I remember."
The marriage wasn't long in coming, so let her rely on the power of the Agnelli Family across. Anyway, once the research had been successful, it was time for them to divorce. Although he answered carelessly, he calmed Lisa slightly.
"Bergerian, the Agnelli Family will not treat you badly if you treat me well."
Hearing the threat in her words, Bergerian's mouth curled up in a sneer, "Really? Then I'm really grateful to you."
"I don't need to be grateful, just be nice to me."
Lisa shifted her position and pressed her body close to his, leaning in to his ear and exhaling softly, "Bergerian, you've been a long ... time coming."
Before she could finish her sentence, there was a knock on the door, followed by the voice of the waiter, "Sir, Miss Eloise is here."
Bergerian's eyes quickly glowed and he winked at Carl, who immediately raised his voice and said, "Send her in."
As soon as the door opened, Eloise caught sight of Bergerian inside.
Their eyes met, one calm and unruffled, the other intrigued.
Eloise walked in, her eyes sweeping over Lisa.
Lisa was glaring at her with the same hostile gaze.
"Mr Bergerian," she said, looking to Bergerian.
Bergerian Edwina hooked her lips, "Long time no see, Sofía."
Eloise just looked at him coldly and didn't make any response.
The atmosphere in the box froze for a moment.
Unfazed, Bergerian pushed Lisa, who had been clinging to him, away and smiled, "Sofía, have a seat."
"Bergerian!" yelled Lisa, disgruntled.
"If you don't like it, go back first." Bergerian gave her a sideways glance.
Let her go back?
So that he could be alone with that bitch Eloise?
No way!
Lisa gave Eloise a stern look and snorted, "I'm not going back."
Eloise didn't bother with her, sitting down across from Bergerian and getting to the point, "I've come to see you like you asked, so you have to keep your word and tell me where Hector is." "Dinner first."
It was so hard to meet her, how could Bergerian tell her Hector's whereabouts all at once.
"You'll tell me after dinner?" Eloise was afraid he would go back on his word, so she had to ask first.
Bergerian smiled, "You don't believe me?"
"It's not that I don't believe you, it's that you're not trustworthy in the first place."
"If you can't be trusted, then why did you agree to come out and meet me?"
Eloise didn't answer, but stared at him with an expressionless face.
Bergerian laughed out softly, "I know, you're doing it for Hector. but since it's for Hector, stay with me through this meal."
"Okay." Eloise nodded her head in agreement.
Bergerian poured water for her, and Lisa was so angry that her lungs exploded, but she didn't want to argue with Bergerian in front of him, for fear of being laughed at by Eloise. She had to hold her tongue, but her hateful gaze was fixed on Eloise.
If her eyes could kill, Eloise would be ashes to ashes by now.
She might not have been nervous when she was facing Bergerian, but it was hard to say the same for Lisa, who would have torn her apart if Bergerian hadn't been there. Eloise took a sip of her water, but only after swallowing did she realise that she had drunk the water Bergerian had poured.
Before she arrived, Edgar had specifically told her not to drink anything, in case Bergerian had drugged it.
Her face paled slightly at the thought and she hurriedly put the water down.
Bergerian noticed and saw what she was thinking and raised his lips in a smile, "You can rest assured that I did not drug the water." Eloise looked up at him, suddenly a little confused by him.
She had always thought that he was trying to capture her for research purposes, but now it seemed as if there was more to it than that.
"I won't do anything to hurt you." Bergerian's eyes stared deeply at her, a look under them that Eloise couldn't read.
But his words struck her as ironic, "You didn't come to me just to try to capture me back in Italy so your research could go ahead."
