Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1167: Yamaguchi Gang

Edwina led Edgar to a breakfast shop down the street.

All the way there, neither of them spoke and it was a bit awkward.

Standing outside the breakfast shop, Edwina took a deep breath, turned her head to look at Edgar and smiled apologetically, "I hope you don't mind, the decoration of this shop looks a bit old, but it still tastes good." Edgar smiled, "It's fine, I used to eat at little shops like this when I was studying."

"That's good."

Edwina was really worried that he would dislike it, and was relieved to hear him say that now.

The two of them walked in one after the other.

When she saw Edwina, the boss lady asked with a big smile, "Same as always?"

Edwina nodded, "Mmm."

Following that, she turned her head and asked Edgar, "There are doughnuts and soya milk here, but also noodles and congee, what do you want to eat?" "The same as you."

The boss lady glanced at Edgar and asked in a small voice, "Is this your boyfriend?"

Although she had deliberately lowered her voice, Edgar still heard it.

Edwina was busy denying it, "No, it's a friend."

Hearing her denial, a hint of imperceptible emotion flashed under Edgar's eyes.

"Boss lady, then two bowls of three fresh noodles."

Edwina turned her head to look at the seating in the shop and pulled Edgar to the empty seat in the corner to sit down.

Once she sat down, she drew a tissue and wiped the tabletop in front of Edgar.

Edgar looked at her quietly, his eyes were as deep as a pond, and it was hard to tell what he was thinking.

Edwina went to ask for a cup of hot water and again scalded her chopsticks and spoons.

"There you go." Edwina handed the hot chopsticks and spoon to Edgar.

When he didn't take them, she looked up into his dark eyes and her heart fluttered.

She hastily averted her eyes and forced a smile, "They're hot and clean."

Edgar took the chopsticks and spoons, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, "Don't you know that boiling water doesn't actually sterilise the food?" "Huh?" Edwina was a little stunned.

The smile on Edgar's lips deepened as he watched her dumbfounded look, "It's nothing."

"Oh."

Edwina bit her lip, "When will ... Miss. Eloise be back in Kyoto?"

"Not sure yet. It should be soon."

Edwina nodded, "I made the cake yesterday and wanted to say I'd take it to Solomon and Sweety, but who knew they'd all gone back to City J." Speaking of which, she felt a little sad.

"The cake was delicious."

Edgar said this and Edwina froze for a few seconds before responding, "You ate the cake?"

"Well, I ate the whole thing, it was delicious."

He had actually eaten the cake she had made.

A wonderful feeling arose in her heart and Edwina was suddenly a little embarrassed, "It's good that you liked it."

Edgar smiled and didn't say anything else.

"Here, your noodles."

The boss lady put the two bowls of noodles on the table, looked at Edgar, smiled and said to Edwina, "It's very hot, take your time."

"Thank you, boss lady."

Edgar looked at the boss lady who walked away and asked, "Do you know the boss lady well?"

"Well, I often come here for breakfast and I've gotten to know her well over time." Edwina picked up the vinegar on the table and poured a lot of it into the noodles. Edgar was shocked, "Aren't you afraid of acid?"

Edwina smiled coyly, "I like vinegar. Do you want some?"

"No." Edgar shook his head.

He didn't really like the taste of vinegar.

Edwina laughed, "Eat up then, you have work to do."

"Good."

The two of them ate their noodles in silence, the buzz around them seemingly isolated from them.

Although Edwina had already eaten breakfast at home, she still finished the bowl of noodles.

She looked up and saw that Edgar had put down his chopsticks while half of the noodles were still left. "Not to your liking?" Edwina asked.

Edgar shook his head, "No, it's because I'm not very hungry."

At that, Edwina looked at her bowl with only noodle soup left and couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed. "Actually, I don't usually eat much."

After saying that, Edwina raised her hand to her forehead, chagrined, what the hell was she talking about? Edgar laughed, "It's a blessing to be able to eat."

Edwina laughed dryly and got up to pay.

Seeing this, Edgar went after her, "I'll do it."

"No, I'll do it. You gave me a birthday present and I'll treat you to breakfast."

Edgar didn't insist when she said so.

They paid the bill and walked together back to the mall where Edwina worked.

"You take care on your way." Edwina turned around and smiled at Edgar.

Edgar nodded, "Yeah."

Watching him walk towards the parked car until it drove away, Edwina withdrew her eyes and turned to go into the mall.

Once back at the restaurant, her colleague immediately approached her with a gossipy face, "Edwina, is that handsome guy really just a friend of yours?" Edwina said, "Yes," as she walked towards the back of the kitchen.

Her colleague immediately followed her, "He has a fiancée, it's better for you to keep a distance from him."

At these words, Edwina stopped abruptly.

The colleague almost bumped into her as she lost her footing.

"Why did you suddenly stop?" The colleague asked, puzzled.

Edwina pursed her lips and smiled a little bitterly, "You're right, I should keep a distance from him."

Nor should she think otherwise of him.

...

Edgar walked into the office, followed closely by Ivor.

"President, the results of the investigation are in."

Edgar took off his suit as he asked, "What's the status?"

"Mr Rawlins has been travelling to and from J a lot these days, our men followed him covertly and found out that he was going to the famous Yamaguchi Gang in J." "Yamaguchi Gang?" asked Edgar, turning to look at him suspiciously.

"That's an organisation that's well known in J. Although the gang leader has gone gold in recent years, he still has some power in the black and white world." "No. How could Rawlins, a decent businessman, be associated with an organisation like that?"

That was what Edgar couldn't figure out.

"After investigation ..." Ivor paused, "Miss Earlene is the goddaughter of the Yamaguchi Gang leader."

At that, Edgar was shocked, "You've done your research correctly, haven't you?"

"No." Ivor shook his head, "I was shocked too when I learned this information."

The Bartram family was not as famous as the Khan family in Kyoto, but it was still a famous family, so how could they be related to such an organisation? Edgar thought for a moment and asked, "And is there any news of Mr Hector?"

"Not yet. But I've had it in to check."

Edgar nodded, "If I'm right, this has something to do with the Yamaguchi Gang. You guys replace out as soon as you can."

"Yes." Ivor took his orders and hurried away.

Edgar pondered for a moment and decided to keep the news to himself for now and tell Eloise when he had definite results."

PS: The previous chapters mentioned that the Rawlins often traveled to and from a certain country, but now it has all been changed to J.
