Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1168: We Are Family
When Eloise woke up, her nose twitched at the sight of Hector's mother sitting by her bedside, watching over her.
"Mum." Having not spoken for too long, her voice was a little hoarse.
At the sound of her voice, Hector's mother was startled awake, she blinked and her face was instantly filled with surprise when she saw Eloise awake, "Eloise, you're awake!" "Mum, why are you here?" Eloise asked.
"I was worried about you, I was afraid you'd wake up and not see me." Hector's mother reached out and smoothed her hair from her cheeks.
Tears filled her heart and Eloise pushed them back, curling her lips, "Mum, I'm fine, don't worry."
"And you say you're fine." Hector's mother gave her a feigned glare, "You've got a gunshot wound and you're still saying you're fine."
She had almost fainted when she found out about Eloise's injury and hadn't even bothered to look after Aisly, so she had come straight over. "I'm sorry to have worried you."
Eloise felt like a real pain in the arse.
In Kyoto, she was always causing trouble for her brother-in-law and mother-in-law, and back at City J, she had to worry her in-laws.
"We're all family, don't say such unkind words." Hector's mother scolded in a low voice.
Eloise smiled, "Okay."
"Are you hungry?" Hector's mother asks with concern.
"A little."
"Wait then, I'll have some porridge made at home."
Hector's mother got up and went out to make the call.
As soon as she left, Eloise's brow immediately furrowed.
It hurt!
The slightest burning sensation coming from the wound made her feel uncomfortable, but she didn't dare to show it in front of Hector's mother, for fear that the old man would worry. "Eloise, the family driver will bring the porridge over in a moment."
Hector's mother walked in just in time to catch the look of pain Eloise hadn't had time to retract, she walked over quickly, "The wound hurts, doesn't it?"
Eloise pulled out a weak smile, "It hurts a little."
"I'm going to call the doctor."
Hector's mother hurried out again.
Eloise tried to call out to her too late.
Soon, the doctor and the nurse arrived.
On examination, Eloise's blood pressure was normal, except for a little low.
"It may take a while for the wound to heal, pain is inevitable, try to stay out of the water to avoid infection."
Hearing the doctor's advice, Hector's mother frowned, "Aren't there any painkillers?"
"Mrs Eloise, too many painkillers are not good, they have certain side effects on the body."
"Mum, I can take it, you don't have to worry." Eloise spoke up to reassure Hector's mother.
"I'm not afraid that you won't be able to bear it, it's because I feel sorry for how hard you have to bear the pain." Hector's mother looked at her with distress. Eloise gave her a reassuring smile, "It's not hard, it's not hard at all. I don't work hard with you guys around, Mum."
"You child." Hearing her say that, Hector's mother was even more distressed.
The doctor considered this seriously for a while and said, "How about this, I'll prescribe some painkillers, if you can't stand it, how about taking them again?" "No need." Eloise refused, she was not a pretentious person, she could still bear this pain.
"No, prescribe some anyway." Hector's mother didn't think the same as her, "The doctor also said to take it if you can't stand it, it's better to be prepared." Eloise smiled helplessly, "Whatever Mum says."
If it would make her worry less about herself, everything would be done as she said.
...
Rupert walked into the ward carrying the thermos bucket and saw Eloise sitting against the bed, still a little pale but looking in good spirits.
He couldn't help but sigh with relief.
It was a good thing she was okay, or he really wouldn't have known what to tell his brother.
"Sister-in-law."
Rupert walked over and placed the thermos on the bedside table.
EloiseEdwina gave a smile, "Why are you delivering it, where's the driver?"
"I just happened to be home, so I dropped it off on my way." Rupert said back as he unscrewed the thermos bucket.
Eloise looked at him, a faint smile remaining at the corners of her mouth, "How is Aisly?"
"She's fine, she can eat and sleep, so don't worry about it sister-in-law."
At that, Eloise lost her smile, "That's good."
Rupert ladled the porridge into a bowl and brought it to her, "It's just the right temperature."
He had forgotten that Eloise had injured one shoulder and that if she moved her hand, it would strain the wound.
When Eloise lifted her hand to reach for the spoon, she exclaimed in pain and dropped the bowl.
The porridge spilled all over the floor.
It spilled onto Rupert's trouser leg.
The black suit trousers were speckled and looked obvious.
Frustration poured over Eloise, instantly overwhelming her.
Her eyes went red and she apologised repeatedly, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."
"Sister-in-law, it's okay." Rupert saw her red eyes and felt a little bad.
"What's wrong with that?" Hector's mother walked in and saw the broken bowl and the spilled porridge on the floor and her brow locked.
"I forgot that my sister-in-law had hurt her shoulder, so I brought her the porridge and then ..."
Rupert didn't finish, but Hector's mother understood what was going on and went over and hit him a few times, "Brat, it's a good thing it fell on the floor, it would have burned your sister-in-law if it had fallen on you." Eloise raised her hand and wiped her tears, "Mum, it's my problem, it's nothing to do with Rupert."
"How can it not be? How can you be allowed to eat on your own when you're hurt?"
As she said this, Hector's mother gave Rupert a disgruntled glance.
Rupert pursed his lips tightly, wanting to laugh but not daring to do so.
Those who didn't know would think his sister-in-law was her own daughter.
"Why don't you clean this place up!" Hector's mother ordered.
"Yes, Mother Superior."
Rupert hurriedly knelt down, picked up the pieces, wrapped them in paper towels and put them in the trash.
Looking at Rupert, who was cleaning up a mess, Eloise was overwhelmed, "Rupert, I'm sorry for making you work so hard." "Sister-in-law, we are family, no need to apologise to me, I didn't work hard either." Rupert said without lifting his head. "That's right, just a simple tidy up, how can it be hard work?" Hector's mother agreed, "He's a big man, he's not a child." Rupert laughed out loud, "Mum, why do you sound like you don't like me?"
"Or what?" Hector's mother gave him a sidelong glance, "If I don't dislike you, who do I dislike?"
Rupert grimaced, "Fine, you've always disliked me since I was a kid anyway."
"Good to know."
Eloise was afraid that Rupert would take it seriously, and quickly said, "Rupert, in fact Mum says that, but in her heart she actually loves you very much." "Sister-in-law, don't worry, I won't take it seriously." Rupert showed a helpless expression, "I was joking with Mum."
"Oh." Eloise was suddenly a little embarrassed and snickered, "I thought Ma was serious."
"Of course it's true, I dislike him the most." Hector's mother said with particular seriousness.
Eloise couldn't help but smile, her heart warming.
She knew they were saying that on purpose to divert her attention because they were afraid she would feel bad.
