Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1177: It doesn't matter if the door is right for the family
On the way back, Eloise kept looking out of the window without saying a word.
Edgar and Rupert looked at each other and asked out loud, "Eloise, what's wrong with you?"
At the sound, Eloise turned her head and Edwina smiled, "I'm fine."
"Sister-in-law, don't think too much, the Rawlins will help us since they promised." Rupert reassured.
Eloise pursed her lips, "I'm not overthinking it, I'm just afraid Earlene won't compromise that easily."
Edgar smiled, "You don't really have to worry about that, Rawlins will work it out, we just have to wait to hear from him."
Eloise knew there was no use worrying now, she could only secretly pray that things would have a smooth resolution.
"Well, don't think about it, I'll take you home first and then take Rupert to the airport."
"You're going straight back?" Eloise looked to Rupert.
Rupert nodded, "Well, Aisly just had a baby and I'm afraid she'll get all wishy-washy if I'm not with her."
Eloise smiled, "You're a model husband."
"Am I?" Rupert raised an eyebrow, "I'd say my brother is the model husband."
"So is he." Eloise turned her head to look out the window at the flashing street scene, looking a little forlorn, "It's just a shame he's not here right now."
Feeling her mood drop considerably at once, Rupert wanted to slap himself for mentioning his brother instead of anything else.
He hastened to remedy the situation, "Sister-in-law, my brother will be back soon."
Eloise gave a soft "hmm" and said nothing more.
Silence returned to the car.
...
Back at the Khan family, Brimlad was surprised to see Eloise and Rupert.
"What are you doing here?"
"Hello Aunty." Rupert called out politely.
"No need to be so polite, come and sit inside."
"No need, Aunty. I'm going back to City J later," Rupert declined her offer.
Brimlad frowned, "In such a hurry?"
She looked to Eloise and asked, "Eloise, are you going back too?"
Eloise shook her head, "No, I'm staying."
As long as there was no news about Hector, she wouldn't go back to City J.
After all, Earlene might be taking Hector back to Kyoto with her any day now.
Brimlad nodded, "Good then."
"Mum, Eloise is hurt, so you look after her a bit more." Edgar said.
"Injured?" Brimlad looked Eloise up and down, his brow furrowed, "Where is it hurt?"
"The shoulder. It's almost healed though." Eloise touched it at the shoulder.
It still hurt a little.
No one noticed the faintest frown on her thin brow.
"How did it hurt?" Brimlad asked, puzzled.
How long had she been back in City J, and how had she gotten hurt?
"Ran into a mugger." Eloise said gently, not intending to tell Brimlad the truth lest she worry.
"How could you be so careless?" Brimlad sighed, "It's better to try and go out as little as possible from now on, it feels like you kids are always having all sorts of accidents, it's better to be safe at home." Eloise smiled and nodded, "Okay, all yours."
When Edgar and Rupert had left, Eloise and Brimlad went upstairs together.
Brimlad said casually as they walked, "Goode has injured Figge and is making a lot of noise."
Eloise frowned, "What's going on?"
"You don't know Goode, how can you be married and then be at peace? Figge couldn't stand it and got into a fight with him, and Goode hit him."
"That's so uncalled for." Eloise despises a man who hits a woman.
"Figge called the police and said it was domestic violence and then your second uncle and second aunt got involved and hated to squeeze Figge to death."
At that, Brimlad sighed heavily, "If I'd known it would turn out like this, I wouldn't have forced Goode to marry Figge in the first place."
Eloise pursed her lips, "I'm actually more to blame, if it wasn't for me, Figge would have aborted the baby and gotten a new life, or at least been better off than she is now."
Seeing the look of remorse on her face, Brimlad took her hand and said reassuringly, "It's not your fault. It's Goode's fault in a thousand ways, and if he hadn't trashed someone first, how could all that have happened back there."
"In the end, it's your second aunt and uncle's fault for not teaching their children well. You see Herrin and Goode are brothers, but so different, one steady and one like nothing ..."
She couldn't say it for a moment, so Eloise picked up on her words, "Dude."
Brimlad was quick to agree, "Yeah, that's right dude. That's what happens when your second aunt and uncle indulge."
"Well, enough about that." Brimlad changed the subject and asked, "Did Aisly's delivery go well, and isn't the baby cute?"
"It went well and the baby is very cute." Eloise took out her phone and clicked on the baby's picture to show her, "Look at that."
Brimlad took the phone and saw the sleeping baby in the picture and exclaimed how cute it was.
"Your mother-in-law is really lucky to have two sons who are married and both have had children, and such cute ones at that." Brimlad said as he was overwhelmed with envy.
"When cousin replaces a girlfriend, you'll be a grandmother soon, Auntie."
Instead of comforting Brimlad, Eloise's words made Brimlad even more angry, "Speaking of which, I'm... just dying to scold your cousin."
"You said I asked him to go on a blind date and he didn't want to, saying something about replaceing his own, but so far, he hasn't even seen anyone."
Brimlad was getting more and more angry as he spoke.
Eloise said, "Auntie, don't be angry, cousin has his own ideas and we can't influence him, can we?"
"I know I can't sway him, but the least I can do is listen to what my parents want. Like Elva, even though you told me Elva wasn't what I saw, I still want them to see it everywhere, maybe it's a good match?" "Well..." Eloise laughed dryly twice, "I wouldn't dare say anything else, but in this case, I think you might be disappointed. Cousin would never like Elva."
"Then who does he like?"
"Edwina."
Having said this answer, Eloise stared intently at Brimlad, not wanting to miss the slightest expression on her face.
"Edwina?" said Brimlad, frowning hard, "You mean Edgar likes Edwina?"
Eloise nodded, "Yeah."
"That won't do." Brimlad shook his head, "They don't fit, not at all."
Eloise looked at her with some amusement, "Auntie, how do you know it's not right?"
"Edwina has a baby with her, how is that appropriate?"
"And what if the baby isn't Edwina's own?" Eloise asked tentatively.
"If it's not her own, whose is it?"
Eloise raised an eyebrow, "I'm just making an analogy."
This was Edwina's personal business and she couldn't say too much.
"That won't do either."
Seeing that Brimlad was unhappy with Edwina, Eloise couldn't help but smile, "Auntie, Elva is such a willful person and you would want your cousin to spend time with her, so why not Edwina?" Brimlad sighed, "I do want your cousin to replace a wife who can help him."
The implication was that the family should be a good match.
Eloise smiled and advised, "Actually, when it's meant to be, it doesn't matter what the right family is."
Just like her and Hector.
