Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1180: Active Abandonment
On the desktop were spread out papers, but Edgar couldn't read a word of them.
He kept thinking about Thomas and Edwina, and the more he thought about it, the more irritated he became, unable to be still. Thomas and Edwina.
It was something he had never thought of.
The fact that Thomas would like Edwina shocked him even more.
He closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair.
What was going on?
There was an unexplainable feeling in his heart, like a hundred paws scratching at his heart.
It was unbearable.
"You're not jealous, are you, cousin?"
Eloise's voice suddenly rang in his ears and his eyes opened abruptly, disbelief written all over his handsome face.
No way!
He shook his head, muttering to himself, "How could I possibly be jealous? It's not like I like Edwina ..."
With that said, inexplicably, a smile spread across his lips.
...
In the evening, Thomas returned.
Eloise called out to him impatiently, "Thomas, did you go to see Edwina?"
"How do you know?" Thomas was surprised.
"What friend do you have in Kyoto other than Edwina." Eloise looked at him teasingly and continued, "Why are you back so late?"
"We had a dinner together." Thomas scratched his head in embarrassment.
"Dinner?" Eloise burst into a particularly ambiguous smile, "Looks like you're making good progress."
"Edwina and I are still just friends." Thomas hastened to explain, not wanting her to misunderstand.
Eloise patted him on the chest, "Don't worry, I know, you're just friends for now."
"For the time being", Eloise said with a deliberate emphasis.
Thomas heard the meaning of her words and a big man smiled coyly.
It was clear that he really liked Edwina.
After half a day of reading papers without getting into them, Edgar got up and walked out of the study, wanting to say that he had gone downstairs to get a glass of water, and was halfway up the stairs when he saw Thomas returning. He just stood there on the stairs, watching Eloise run up to Thomas and ask after him and Edwina.
Their conversation, he heard it all.
The hand on the stair rail tightened involuntarily.
A twinge of fear crept into his heart.
Was he going to watch Thomas pursue Edwina?
As Eloise finished talking to Thomas, she turned around, caught a glimpse of the figure standing on the stairs out of the corner of her eye and asked with a smile, "What are you doing standing there, cousin?"
Eloise's voice pulled Edgar's thoughts back and with a scowl, he steadily descended the stairs and made his way over to her.
"Thomas is back." He smiled at Thomas.
Thomas nodded, "Well, back."
"What were you doing, cousin? Why are you standing there without saying a word?" Eloise looked at him suspiciously.
Edgar raised an eyebrow, "I'm going to the kitchen to get a glass of water."
He turned and lifted his feet to head for the kitchen, then suddenly, as if he had thought of something, he turned his head and smiled at Thomas, "Thomas, I know you're good at what you do, but don't let personal matters get in the way of business."
The words left his mouth before he struck out towards the kitchen.
Thomas had a head full of questions, "Miss Eloise, why is the cousin prince suddenly saying that to me?"
Eloise raised her eyebrows, "Probably because she's afraid you've forgotten something important."
"Not likely. Nothing is more important to me than the prince's business."
"I know." Eloise smiled, "You don't have to worry about my cousin's words."
With that, Eloise headed for the kitchen.
She saw Edgar drink a large glass of water in one gulp and couldn't help but be a little jaw-dropped.
"Are you that thirsty, cousin?" Eloise asked cautiously as she approached.
Edgar put the glass down and turned his head, "A little dry inside."
Eloise pursed her lips and asked tentatively, "Is it because of Edwina?"
Edgar's eyes flickered and he didn't make a sound.
His silence seemed to Eloise to be a tacit acknowledgement.
Eloise thought for a moment and said, "Cousin, if you like Edwina, then you have to hurry up, otherwise when Thomas catches up with you, then you'll only regret it."
"Forget it." Edgar tugged at the corner of his mouth, "I just want to hurry up and get Hector back now, and the Khan Group has a few big projects lately, I don't have the time or energy to talk about relationship stuff." "Cousin, sometimes when you miss out, it's for life. Are you really just going to let it go?"
Eloise didn't want him to regret it later, whether he and Edwina would be happy in the future or not, the most important thing was that when destiny came, not taking advantage of it was a real regret for life. "Hmm." Edgar nodded, "Thomas is very good, I think he would be the ideal man for Edwina."
Eloise raised an eyebrow, "And what if it's you that Edwina likes?"
Edgar froze, "The person she likes is me?"
"Hmm."
Edgar lost his smile, "No way. She'd just see me as a friend."
It seemed he didn't know Edwina's feelings, Eloise sighed and said meaningfully, "Cousin, look at someone with your heart and maybe you'll replace something different."
"What do you mean?" Edgar didn't understand her words.
"The meaning of nothing." Eloise shrugged, "If you really want to give Edwina to Thomas, I hope you won't regret it."
Would he regret it?
Edgar didn't know, and didn't want to think about it.
As far as he was concerned, it was enough for Edwina to be happy.
"Eloise, what do you mean by your words?"
A voice suddenly rang out, startling both Eloise and Edgar.
Looking back, it turned out to be Brimlad.
"Auntie, when did you get here?" Eloise looked at her in wonder.
The walk was silent, so she couldn't have heard everything she said to her cousin, could she?
"I asked you a question, what the hell do you mean?" Brimlad didn't answer her, but repeated his question.
Eloise glanced at Edgar and smiled dryly, "It means what you heard."
Brimlad wrinkled his brow and looked sharply at Edgar, "You like Edwina?"
"Mum, does it matter that much who I like?" Edgar looked slightly bemused.
"Of course it matters." Brimlad snorted, "You can like anyone you like, but not Edwina."
At that, Edgar's brow furrowed, "Why, what's wrong with Edwina?"
"She's all right, but the only thing wrong with her is that she has children." Brimlad picked it up straight away.
"So what? Can't you have a new kind of happiness with a child?"
For the first time Edgar found his mother's thinking surprisingly old-fashioned.
"She wants to have a new happiness, I have nothing to say about that. But you can't like her."
Looking at his mother who had a firm attitude, Edgar suddenly laughed, "Mum, I only like her because I consider her a friend, not because you think so."
Hearing this, Eloise looked at Edgar incredulously.
Did he know what he was talking about?
Brimlad narrowed his eyes, "Really?"
"Really. Of course it's true." Edgar smiled back.
No one noticed the bitterness he hid in his smile.
At this, Brimlad sighed in relief, "That's good. Ask Elva out when you have time and the two of you can nurture your relationship."
Edgar nodded, "Good."
Eloise's brow furrowed, she really couldn't understand what was going on with her cousin.
He obviously liked Edwina, but he was giving up.
He obviously didn't like Elva, yet he had to agree to his sister-in-law's request.
This person was really too contradictory.
