Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1181: Taking a step back as a step forward
Brimlad turned his head and stared at Eloise, silent.
Eloise was a little shaken by the stare and forced out a smile, "Why do you keep staring at me, little aunt?"
"Eloise," Brimlad finally uttered.
"Hmm."
"Will you put your little mind to rest?" Brimlad asked.
Eloise, a little confused, asked blankly, "What little mind?"
"Are you trying to set up your cousin and Edwina?"
Eloise pursed up her lips and didn't answer.
She did have the idea, but not anymore; after all, her cousin had said something like that, and it would really be pointless for her to continue to set him up with Edwina.
Brimlad sighed, "I told you, I want Edgar to replace a wife who will help him in his career, not a second wife with a drag."
A drag queen? A second marriage?
It seemed that my brother-in-law had a big misunderstanding about Edwina.
Eloise felt the need to explain herself, but she was stopped by Brimlad before she could speak.
"Come on, don't speak for Edwina either, I wouldn't have approved of Edgar and her being together anyway."
Eloise laughed helplessly, "Auntie, this hasn't even started yet, why don't you approve of them being together?"
"Save for a rainy day. Understand?"
The corner of Eloise's mouth twitched, "Auntie, you're really thinking too much. Cousin has told me in no uncertain terms that he and Edwina are just normal friends, so don't you worry." "Things are hard to predict." From what she had just heard of her son's conversation with Eloise, Brimlad had always felt a little uneasy, she was afraid that her son might like that Edwina. Eloise laughed out loud, "Auntie, don't think so much about it, it's best for your cousin to make his own decisions."
Besides, it is impossible for others to interfere in matters of affection just by saying a few words.
...
When Eloise had gone back to City J earlier, Rowson had gone back to Italy.
He went to see Katerina.
But the other man did not look kindly upon seeing him.
"I thought you'd forgotten about me." Katerina wrapped her arms around her chest and looked coldly at the man in front of her with a sneer in her brow.
He had sent her to Bergerian to ask for flight information, but he himself had sneaked off to Kyoto.
He didn't even tell her.
This incident suddenly made her think clearly that in his heart, Eloise would always be the most important.
She, on the other hand.
At best, she was just a tool to be used.
The thought made her irritable and her expression even colder.
Rowson ignored her words and asked, "What's the situation with Professor Curry?"
Katerina's heart sank and the corners of her mouth curled into a sneer, "Rowson, don't I even deserve a few words of concern?"
"You went to Kyoto without a word, and as soon as you return you want to get Professor Curry's situation from me, aren't you being a little too ruthless?" Rowson frowned, "Catherine, we're just friends, concern is dispensed with."
"Friends?" Katerina smiled a sarcastic smile and looked at him with an increasingly cold gaze, "I thought in your mind, I wasn't even a friend." Rowson fell silent.
Katerina took a deep breath, "Whenever you've tried to use me as a so-called friend, Rowson, you disgust me."
She shouldn't have expected anything less from him, and then she wouldn't have had to be so disappointed. Silence slowly spread between them, and for a moment the atmosphere was frozen.
It was only after a long moment that Rowson spoke slowly, "I'm sorry."
Katerina had always been strong and did not shed tears easily, but at the words "I'm sorry", her eyes turned red.
She hurriedly tilted her head back and pushed back the tears.
"Rowson, don't think I'm going to tell you about Professor Curry just because you're sorry." She said coldly.
"No, it's okay if you don't tell me." A sigh spilled from Rowson's lips, "I've been using you all this time, and I'm really sorry."
Not expecting him to say that, Katerina's eyes flashed with surprise, "Rowson, what are you up to again?"
"Nothing." Rowson gave her a ninety degree bend, "I won't bother you again."
At those words, Katerina's heart fluttered.
What did he mean?
Was he ready to break off contact with her?
Rowson straightened up, no expression on his clean face, "Katerina, thank you for your help earlier."
With that, he turned around and prepared to leave.
Katerina rushed to stop him, "Rowson, what do you mean by that?"
"Literally."
Katerina sneered, "Are you planning to cross the river?"
Rowson raised an eyebrow, "You can take it any way you want."
With that, he walked around her and took off.
Katerina stood motionless for a few moments before she turned around and shouted in the direction Rowson had left, "Rowson, you bastard!" Rowson had already walked away and didn't hear her.
He found his car, opened the door and got in, fastening his seatbelt before staring stonily at the front of the car.
The virus in Eloise's body had been unusually calm all this time, showing no signs of activity, and by rights he should have been touched with gratitude. But for some reason, he felt uneasy, as if something big was about to happen.
That's why he had come back to Italy to Katerina.
Originally, he wanted her to help him get his hands on the drugs Curry had researched.
But now it seemed that that solution was not going to work.
He would have to think of something else.
Rowson started his car, ready to leave, when suddenly a dark figure rushed out and stopped in front of his car.
He slammed on the brakes and looked up.
It was Katerina.
Was she looking for death?
Rowson angrily got out of the car and shouted at her, "Are you crazy? If I hadn't noticed, you would have been hit by me by now!"
Katerina dropped her hands and turned her head, glaring at him with resentment, "What the hell do you want?"
Rowson frowned, "What?"
"Are you planning on never contacting me again from now on?" Katerina stepped in front of him and tilted her head to glare at him.
"Catherine, you're a Bergerian, it's not good for you that we're getting too close." Rowson said, "And I don't want to cause you any more trouble."
"Is this a lustful move on your part?" Katerina asked.
Rowson lost his smile, "When did you learn that idiom?"
"You don't have to care when I learned it, I just need you to tell me yes or no!"
Rowson shoved his hands into his trouser pockets and raised an eyebrow, "No."
"Rowson!" said Katerina, irritated.
Was he really that keen to get out of her way?
Rowson's expression was muted, unable to tell what was really on his mind.
Katerina took a deep breath, "Fine, I'll help you, I'll help you get the drug Curry has researched."
An imperceptible hint of emotion quickly crossed under Rowson's eyes and he said faintly, "No need to force it."
"No reluctance, you wait for my news."
Katerina gave him a deep look and turned to leave.
As he watched her fade away, a hint of regret rose in Rowson's eyes.
Although he had taken advantage of Katerina's goodwill towards him, he could only do so for Eloise's sake.
