Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1190: Rebellion
The next day, over breakfast, Brimlad tried to side-step Edgar and ask him for something.
But Edgar was prepared and no matter what he asked, he only gave vague answers, leaving Brimlad in the dark as to whether he had been with Edwina last night or not. Finally, Brimlad had to ask, "Were you with Edwina last night?"
Edgar finished the last sip of his milk, put the glass down, looked up at his mother and said in a light tone, "Mum, I'm an adult, it's my freedom who I'm with."
"No, can't I even ask?" Brimlad was getting a little angry.
"OK." Edgar stood up and looked at his mother with a serious expression, "But I also have the right not to answer."
He drew a tissue to wipe his mouth, "I'm off to work."
Without waiting for his mother's reaction, he marched off.
This pissed Brimlad off to no end.
"What has the boy become?"
Eloise, who had been watching silently, swallowed her mouthful before speaking up, "Auntie, my cousin is right, he's a grown-up, he's free to make friends, so you should mind your own business." "Meddle?" Brimlad turned his head and retorted in exasperation, "I care about him, not mind!"
Eloise spat out her tongue and muttered in a whisper, "But in your cousin's opinion, you are minding him."
Brimlad was speechless as she sat bolt upright, her face brimming with anger.
"Don't be angry, Auntie. Cousin is a big man, he must have his own rules." Eloise coaxed.
Brimlad grunted, "I'm afraid he's too big for his britches."
Eloise took a sip of milk, "Hey, you can't force your ideas on your cousin, people are rebellious. What if he and Edwina are just normal friends, but he wants to woo someone when you get in his way like that?" Brimlad's face suddenly changed at that, "Really? Would that really happen?"
"Really. Especially with someone as opinionated as cousin, it's more likely to happen."
Eloise didn't mean to scare her, she was just giving her a precaution so that she would be prepared if her cousin did get together with Edwina in the future.
"So what should I do?" Brimlad asked.
"Just go with the flow."
Brimlad frowned, "Go with the flow?"
"Yeah, whatever your cousin means to someone Edwina, you let him be."
"And what if they do get together?" Brimlad thought about it, "No, I would never allow that to happen."
Eloise: "..."
I dare say after all that talk, there was still no way to change her mind.
"So what do you want to do?" Eloise asked.
Brimlad thought hard for a moment before saying, "I'll have to create opportunities for Edgar and Elva to spend more time together, maybe your cousin will see the good in Elva." Eloise was tempted to say that it might be a bit difficult, but didn't say so, lest she say she had thrown her under the bus again.
"Let's just hope Auntie will get what she wants."
Eloise decided to leave it at that, it was never in anyone's hands to decide what to do with relationships anyway.
...
After breakfast, Eloise got up and was about to walk out of the restaurant when Brimlad's phone suddenly rang.
Brimlad glanced at the caller alert and his brow furrowed, "Why is it her again?"
Picking it up, and not knowing what was said on the other end, Brimlad jerked to his feet with a shocked look on his face, "Okay, I know, I'm coming over." Seeing this, Eloise rushed to ask, "What's wrong?"
"Goode got beaten up last night and was taken to hospital." Brimlad, unable to eat his breakfast, replied as he headed out the door.
Hearing that Goode had been beaten up, Eloise's eyes flickered and she asked again, "Was it serious?"
"I'd say it's pretty serious, and I don't know who hit him that hard."
At that, Brimlad suddenly stopped on his feet and turned his head to look at Eloise with a frown, "Eloise, this has nothing to do with you, does it?" Eloise smiled, "Of course it doesn't."
"Really?"
"Of course it's true, would I lie?"
Brimlad sighed, "It better be nothing to do with you or your second aunt and uncle won't let you off the hook if they replace out."
Brimlad gave her a deep look before striding away.
Wouldn't let her go?
Eloise's lips curled coldly, she wouldn't let them off the hook, what could they do to her?
Since Goode had been hospitalised, if she didn't go and see him, she would miss the chance to see him in a state of disarray.
So she caught up with Brimlad, "Auntie, I'll go with you. I don't like Goode, but he's my cousin and I should go and see him." "You really want to go?" Brimlad looked at her suspiciously.
She nodded heavily, "Yeah, I'm going."
Brimlad smiled, "That's fine, come along."
...
When she arrived at the hospital and saw Goode lying in a hospital bed, almost covered in gauze, Eloise burst out laughing.
This laugh made her second aunt Silvia angry.
"Eloise, how can you laugh when your cousin is so badly injured?"
Eloise coughed softly, "No, I just happened to think of a snide joke and couldn't stop laughing."
"Yeah, is Eloise that insensitive?" Brimlad spoke up on Eloise's behalf.
Silvia gave Eloise a blank look and snorted, "Who knows if she's gloating in her mind."
"Even if Eloise is gloating, it's Goode's fault!" Brimlad gave her a cold glance and continued, "Don't even think about what Goode has done to Eloise, she's doing you guys a favour by coming to see Goode." "Did I ask her to come and see me?"
Silvia muttered in a small voice.
Devona tugged at her sleeve, gesturing for her to keep her mouth shut.
Edgar was in charge of the Khan family now, and if they messed with Eloise, who knew what Edgar would do to them.
"Okay, don't say anything." Brimlad looked over at Goode in the hospital bed and asked, "What's going on with this kid, how did he get beaten up?"
At the mention of this, Silvia immediately yelled, "Sister-in-law, you have to do something for my Goode, you said he was beaten up like this by a nice person, it's really too much." "Who did it?" Brimlad asked.
"I don't know, the other guy ran away." Devona frowned, "And I wonder if the boy has offended someone somewhere."
"What are you talking about Devona," Silvia turned her head to glare at him, "how well behaved is our Goode, how could he have offended anyone?"
At that, Eloise struggled to resist the urge to roll her eyes.
If Goode had been a good boy, would he have been idle and drunk all day?
He even beat his wife.
What an asshole! Scum!
"Did you call the police?" Brimlad asked again.
Although she didn't like Goode either, who made Goode a member of the Khan family and couldn't just sit back and do nothing.
