Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1196: I don't like her
Seeing this, Thomas lost his laugh, "Don't be so surprised, the like I said is the kind of like between friends." So that was it.
Edwina breathed a sigh of relief and subconsciously lifted her eyes to look at Edgar.
But she saw that his eyes were downcast, his expression light, his mind unreadable.
A slight loss crossed her mind.
She laughed bitterly; she was not his person, how could he possibly react?
"Is it just a liking between friends?" Elva trailed off deliberately.
She just couldn't believe that a man could have a liking for a woman that was only between friends?
Before Thomas could answer, Edgar spoke first, "Are you still planning to eat? If not, I'll leave first."
His face was cold, and his eyes were warmless.
Elva shivered and said, "Yes, of course."
Edgar glanced at Edwina, who was diagonally across from him, and a hint of emotion passed through his eyes.
When he heard Thomas say the word 'like', his nerves were instantly on edge.
Although Eloise had already mentioned that Thomas was interested in pursuing Edwina, hearing it in person was a different feeling.
At this point, his entire chest felt like it was clogged with cotton, so stuffy he couldn't breathe a little.
"Edgar, what would you like to eat?"
Elva looked up and saw his sullen face wondering what he was thinking, and her brow furrowed, the hand holding the menu slowly tightening. He still cared.
The meal was finished in an inexplicable atmosphere, during which Elva's dainty voice could be heard every now and then.
"Edgar, you eat this, it's delicious."
"Edgar, this is so delicious, you eat it too."
...
While Elva took one delicious bite, Edwina felt like she tasted like wax and didn't know what she was eating.
When she finished eating, Thomas gave her a look and smiled gently, "Let's go."
She instantly felt relieved and walked out of the restaurant, her whole body lighter.
"I'll walk you back." Thomas said.
"Okay." Edwina nodded and took Bonnie with her as she left with him.
On the way home, Thomas suddenly mentioned Edgar and Elva.
"The Miss. Elva you saw today is my Mr. Edgar's matchmaking partner and his mother's preferred daughter-in-law, who may get married in the future."
"Is that so?" Edwina's expression was light, and she did not seem to be interested in this matter.
Thomas didn't notice her discomfort and continued, "The Boone Family may have been a bit of an outsider, but they are still a famous family, and a marriage between the Khan family and the Boone Family would certainly help Mr. Edgar's career."
Edwina turned her head to look out of the window at the flashing street scene, looking a little forlorn.
Thomas gave her a sideways glance, and when he saw that she was silent, he shut up himself, and silence returned to the car.
The car pulled up in front of the block and Edwina smiled before getting out, "Mr. Thomas, thank you for breaking the bank today." "My pleasure." Thomas returned a smile.
Edwina smiled and opened the door to get out of the car.
"Bonnie, say goodbye to Uncle Thomas." Edwina said to Bonnie.
Bonnie waved her hand good-naturedly at Thomas in the car, "Bye, Uncle."
"Bonnie, bye."
"Take care on the road." Edwina bent over and looked at Thomas in the car.
Thomas nodded, "You guys go on up."
Edwina waved her hand, took Bonnie's hand and turned towards the block.
He watched them walk into the neighbourhood before Thomas started the car and left.
Back at home, Edwina leaves Bonnie to take a shower while she sits in the living room, reflecting on the evening's events. There were some mixed feelings.
He was getting married to Elva, and she couldn't expect anything more.
Then let's start tonight and slowly forget about it.
She jerked to her feet, took a deep breath and curled the corners of her mouth, "Edwina, you can do it."
Just as the words left her mouth, the phone rang suddenly.
Startled, she hurriedly picked it up and saw the caller alert, her hand falling to her side slowly clenching as she saw it.
After a moment, she picked it up.
"I'm downstairs."
A low voice came through the handset.
Downstairs?
Edwina's face paled, and, unable to speak, she turned and ran to the balcony and looked down to see a man standing there.
Her heart was beating fast.
She gripped her phone tightly, "What are you doing here?"
"Are you free?" The other person asked instead of answering.
Edwina bit her lip, "Yes, come on up."
Bonnie stepped out of the shower and was surprised to see the person sitting in the living room, "Uncle Edgar, what brings you here?"
Edgar turned around and curled his lips in a smile, "I have something for your mother."
Bonnie let out an "Oh", "I'll go to my room then, I won't disturb you."
Edgar laughed as he watched Bonnie run into the room, how could this child be so perceptive?
At that moment, Edwina came over with a glass of water, placed it in front of her and sat down opposite him.
"What is it that you need to come over so late?" Edwina asked.
Edgar picked up the water and took a sip before saying slowly, "It's nothing important really, it's just that our company is planning to have a dinner party and we want to ask if your restaurant can be chartered?" At this, Edwina pursed her lips, "You should be asking our manager for this kind of thing, why are you asking me?"
Edgar raised his eyebrows and casually found an excuse, "I wanted to ask you first, maybe I can get a discount?"
Edwina laughed, "Of course you can get a discount."
"That's fine." Edgar picked up his glass and sipped his water to hide his discomfort.
Edwina lowered her eyes to hide the loss underneath them.
So he had come to see himself for something like this.
I don't know what I was expecting.
Edgar gave her a look, put his glass down and said, as if in an offhand way, "You and Thomas seem to know each other well enough."
"Yeah? We've only met a few times, actually." Edwina smiled.
"He really likes you."
Edgar subconsciously squeezed his palms together as he said this, a small smile barely tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Edwina stroked the strands of hair from her cheeks and explained, "He even said it was a liking between friends."
"Do you believe that?" Edgar asked.
He stared at her intently, his heart lifting.
How on earth would she answer?
To be honest, she didn't believe it.
Because she could feel Thomas' feelings, but she only thought of him as a friend.
She raised her lips in a smile, "Believe, why not?"
Her expression was frank, not like she was lying.
Maybe she really hadn't thought that much about it and just saw Thomas as a friend.
The thought of that slowly dropped his heart back into place.
Edgar smiled gently, "It's good that you believe."
The air went quiet.
Edwina squeezed her palms together and hesitated for a moment before speaking carefully, "I heard that you and Miss. Elva are getting married?" "Getting married?" Edgar looked stunned, "Who said that?"
"Mr. Thomas."
"Thomas?" Edgar shook his head and laughed, "Don't listen to him, I'm not getting married to Elva at all, and it's not even possible." Looking into her clear eyes, Edgar looked suddenly serious, "I don't like her."
