Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1216: I can't live without him

After the meeting, Rawlins returned to his office.

The assistant followed him with a worried look, "President, what now?"

Rawlins turned around, "Any news from the Khan Group?"

"No movement at all."

Rawlins narrowed his eyes, "It looks like Edgar is really trying to force Earlene to compromise this time."

The assistant frowned, "But how can the lady compromise so easily? I'm afraid that before Miss can compromise, the company won't be able to hold up first."

Just like those few shareholders had said, Bartram Group's important projects were all in collaboration with Khan Group, this Khan Group had suspended its collaboration all of a sudden, the blow to the group was unimaginable. "Don't even think about it!" Rawlins scolded in a low voice, "After all these years, how much harder can it be than the time when the old chairman had an accident?"

"That's not what I meant, I'm just worried that the Khan Group won't simply suspend their cooperation."

What he said was also Rawlins' fear.

If Khan Group put pressure on Bartram Group from other sources, I was afraid it really wouldn't hold up.

Rawlins thought about it and said in a quiet voice, "Make an appointment with Mr Edgar for me at a time when I want to talk to him face to face." "Yes."

The assistant left in a hurry.

In fact, Earlene had to step in, but Rawlins knew in his heart that there was no way she would compromise.

Thinking of this, Rawlins let out a long sigh, really not understanding how good Hector was that it was worth her going out of her way to snatch him up. Let's just hope that this time things work out.

...

It was to Ivor's surprise when he received the call from Rawlins' assistant.

"I'll need to ask Mr Edgar and get back to you."

With that said, he simply hung up the phone.

That pissed off the person on the other side of the phone.

If it wasn't for the company, there was really no need to stoop so low.

Knock, knock...

Ivor knocked on the door of the president's office, and only when a "come in" came from inside did he push the door in.

"President, Mr. Shangguan wants to meet you for a talk."

"Yes?" Edgar lifted his head.

Ivor shook his head repeatedly, "No, how dare I say yes without your approval?"

Edgar raised an eyebrow, "Then refuse."

"Are you sure?" Ivor was a little confused.

Hadn't he decided to suspend his cooperation with the Bartram Group just to negotiate a deal?

"Well."

Edgar had his own considerations, and this suspension of the suspension would not be a small blow to the Khan Group. But it was all worth it for Eloise.

He wanted to get Earlene to give Hector back to Eloise.

With a definite answer, Ivor bowed his head, "Then I'll go and tell the other side now."

Rawlins hadn't expected Edgar to refuse to meet with him outright.

His face was stony.

The assistant asked cautiously, "President, now that Mr Edgar is unwilling to meet with you, should we think of some other way?"

"It's Miss he wants to see." Rawlins took a deep breath, "The few projects that have been suspended, you pacify the staff, I'm going home now." "Good."

...

Hector woke up after ten o'clock and was up so late because he had slept poorly.

He'd had a nightmare that a woman had been crying in his ear, accusing him of being heartless and abandoning her.

After waking up with a start, he kept his eyes open until dawn, before falling back asleep.

"Did you have bad night's sleep?" Earlene asked with concern, noticing that he didn't look very well.

Hector scratched at his hair, his good-looking eyebrows furrowed, "Earlene, what exactly is that Eloise's relationship with me?"

Earlene froze, then responded and smiled, "She's not related to you."

To avoid him asking, she changed the subject, "You must be hungry, come on, let's go for breakfast."

Hector smiled shyly at the distraction, "Indeed I am hungry."

Earlene lost her smile and looked at him with eyes as soft as water, "Then let's go downstairs and have breakfast."

"Okay."

Hector took the lead and headed for the stairs, Earlene watched his back, her smile slowly fading and her expression becoming grave.

Was she using too light a dose?

Why else would he be so attached to Eloise?

She shook her head, "It couldn't have been a light dose, don't be ridiculous. Anyone else would be more or less preoccupied with a situation like that." She reassured herself before lifting a step to follow.

Rawlins returned home and, learning that Earlene and Hector were having breakfast in the dining room, headed straight for it.

As soon as they approached, the sound of laughter could be heard coming out.

Rawlins steps back and frowns, unable to really believe that the man now chatting and laughing in the restaurant is Hector.

Remember him as a silent and cold man.

"Earlene, this cake is delicious, you eat it too."

Rawlins walked into the restaurant just in time to see Hector put a piece of dessert on Earlene's plate and his brow Edwina frowned.

He pushed down the discomfort in his heart, "Earlene, I have something to talk to you about."

At the sound of his voice, Hector and Earlene turned their heads at the same time.

One had blank eyes.

One had a cold look on her face, not at all the gentle look she had when she was alone with Hector.

Rawlins' mouth curled up in a sneer, "Do I make you that annoying?"

"I have nothing to talk to you about." Earlene turned her head back, telling Hector to eat and leave him alone.

Was Hector the only one in her eyes?

A sudden surge of anger washed over her, and Rawlins' tone hardened, "The Khan Group has suspended its partnership, the company is about to fail, and you're still in the mood to eat breakfast with a man?" At that, Earlene turned her head to look at him, surprised, "What did you say?"

Rawlins gave a sarcastic smile, "What? Do you finally know to care about the company?"

"Rawlins, I don't want to hear that shit, I just want to hear what the suspension is all about."

"What else could be going on." Rawlins' eyes fell on Hector, a hint of cynicism welling up in his eyes, "It's not because of him!"

Earlene understood, "Now Edgar is trying to use the suspension of cooperation to get me to hand over the man?"

"You should know how important he is to the Rogers family." Rawlins voice softened, "Earlene, give him back."

"No!" Earlene refused flatly, "He's important to me too, and I can't live without him."

"Earlene!" the Rawlins were furious, "So you want to see the company fail and declare bankruptcy? Don't you forget, that's Grandpa and Dad's life's work!"

"Don't you dare mention that to me!" Earlene was angry too, she glared at him coldly, "You are most definitely not qualified to mention my father in front of me." Her eyes were filled with hate.

A feeling of powerlessness instantly overwhelmed him like a wave, a weak smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, "Earlene, you really have let me down too much." After saying that, he left without looking back.
