Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1217: It's not your turn to educate me!

Hector was confused, he put down the fork in his hand and said with some concern, "Earlene, your brother seems to be angry." Earlene smiled gently, "It's alright, he's just like that, don't mind him. Finish your porridge quickly and I'll take you to see Grandma later." Hector nodded, his voice extremely gentle, "Okay."

As she watched him continue to eat his breakfast, the smile on Earlene's lips slowly faded and her face sank a few shades.

She had let Rawlins down?

I'm afraid that was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard.

Back then, she had tried against all odds to get the shareholders to agree to let her run the company.

But they all thought she was too much of a girl to take on such a responsibility.

She then sought his help, trying to get him to help her in front of the shareholders.

But who knows...

The thought of the past made Earlene's mind even more irritable.

Hector finished his porridge and turned his head to look at her, noticing her pale face, and asked with concern, "Earlene, are you unwell somewhere?"

At the sound of his voice, Earlene looked back and met his worried gaze, hastily collecting all her thoughts and pursing her lips, "I'm fine."

Her smile deepened when she saw the empty plates out of the corner of her eye, "You've finished eating."

Hector nodded, "Yeah."

"Let's go upstairs and change then."

Earlene led Hector out of the dining room and caught a glimpse of the Rawlins standing in the living room.

Earlene frowned and smiled at Hector, "Hector, go upstairs by yourself while I have a word with him."

Hector glanced at Rawlins, "Okay."

Once Hector was upstairs, Earlene approached Rawlins.

"You were the one who insisted on taking over the reins of the Bartram Group back then, and now that something has gone wrong, where do you stand to point the finger at me?" The tone of questioning.

Rawlins turned to her with a warm gaze, a sneer tugging at the corners of his mouth, "All these years later, you're still blaming me."

"Yes, I am blaming you." Earlene admitted openly, her eyes narrowing with a stern look in them, "I would have taken over the Bartram Group if you hadn't interfered."

At these words, Rawlins felt a deep sense of powerlessness.

Did she not know why he had taken over the company back then?

If he hadn't stepped forward, Bartram Group would have changed its name long ago!

"It's been a real aggravation for you these past few years."

He suddenly said this and instead Earlene froze, momentarily confused as to whether he was really feeling sorry for herself or was being sarcastic.

Rawlins stepped closer to her, gazed deeply into her eyes and whispered, "These past few years, I would have given you back the company whenever you asked." His look, his eyes, and his voice were gentle.

So gentle that Earlene was at a loss for words.

She panicked and avoided his gaze, snorted and sneered, "Don't put words in your mouth, who knows what you have in mind again."

She still didn't want to believe him.

Rawlins laughed, a smile filled with bitterness, "Fine, if you think so, I can't help it. But there's something I have to say.

The company is really in trouble right now, and if you want to guard your grandfather and father's life's work, think clearly about what to do and what not to do." "It's not your turn to lecture me!" Earlene glared at him coldly.

Rawlins thrust his hands into his pockets. Into his pockets, he laughed softly, "I'm not trying to educate you, I'm just telling you how serious things are."

At that, he looked upstairs, "I know you like him, but the company is more important than your feelings."

"Think about it."

Rawlins gave her a deep look before turning to leave.

Earlene stood where she was for a long time.

...

Eloise ate her breakfast and offered to go to the Bartram family.

But to her surprise, Baggott stopped it.

"Eloise, if you go now, you're sure you won't see Hector."

"Why?" Eloise asked, puzzled.

"There's no way Earlene will let you see it, or maybe even take Hector out of the country to hide again to avoid you."

Baggott wasn't scaring her, but reminding her that she should never be impulsive or things would become even more problematic.

Eloise laughed bitterly, "What you say, brother-in-law, I understand. But isn't there anything I can do?"

She felt extraordinarily powerless.

"Neither." Baggott smiled gently, "All you can do now is wait. Edgar and I will replace a way to bring Hector home."

"But..."

Eloise was about to say something else when Baggott lifted his hand to her shoulder and whispered, "Just listen and leave it all to me and Edgar."

When he said that, Eloise couldn't insist any more, so she had to compromise and nod, "Okay."

"Well, don't think too much about it, Hector will be back. I'll be off to the office."

"It's been hard on you, brother-in-law." Eloise didn't know what to say, she'd been giving them a hard time ever since she'd gone back to the Khan family.

It was really overwhelming.

Baggott smiled, "As long as you behave, we won't work hard."

"I'll do as I'm told."

"I'm off then."

Baggott smiled, turned and walked out.

Silence returned to the ward, and Eloise turned her head to look out the window with a rueful expression.

I wonder what Hector is doing now.

...

When she was still in Singapore, Earlene had known that her grandmother was in a bad way. Although prepared in her mind, she was still shocked when she saw it with her own eyes. The old lady was lying on the hospital bed line, her originally round face was instantly much thinner, her cheeks were sunken in, and there was no trace of blood, and she was very pale. Her eyes, which had been bright and spirited, had also turned cloudy, and she did not look the least bit alive.

If it weren't for the medical instruments going off, one would have thought she was gone.

Earlene's eyes were red, she could not accept that the old man who was hale and hearty before she left the country was now lying in a hospital bed with no life at all, alive on a ventilator. "Earlene ... Earlene," the old man called out with difficulty as his cloudy eyes lit up when he saw her.

"Grandma." Earlene rushed to hold her somewhat cold hand as tears flowed down her face.

Seeing her crying, the old man's eyes also turned red and he said gently, "Silly child, don't cry, isn't Grandma alive?"

At these words, the tears fell even harder.

Earlene looked down, put her hand against her cheek and choked out, "I'm sorry, Grandma, it's all my fault for being capricious and not coming back sooner to be with you."

It was at this moment that she realised how willful and selfish she had been.

Just because for the sake of love, she had chosen to ignore her family's love.

She regretted it.

"There's no need to blame yourself, grandmother is happy that you've come back." The old lady barely managed to squeeze out a smile.

Looking at her smile was like a big ball of cotton blocking her heart.

Earlene wiped her tears, "Grandma, now that I'm back, I'll always be with you, you must hurry up and get better."
