Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1225: Yes, I do like her

The day of the mall's anniversary was a busy one, with a lot more customers.

Edwina was busy receiving customers from morning to night, almost without a break.

Even though she was wearing low heels, such intense work was still a bit too much for her.

When there were fewer customers, she ducked into the dressing room and took off her high heels. Hiss!

She sucked in a breath of cold air and looked down, her eyes falling on her little toe, where the blister that had rubbed out had broken, causing her to frown in pain.

It hurt, but the work had to go on.

She fished a band-aid out of her bag, ripped it open and gently applied it to the wound.

That should hold it for a while.

"Edwina."

The manager's voice came from outside and she hurriedly returned, "Manager, I'm here."

A short while later, the manager walked in and got a little angry when he saw that she was actually sitting and resting, "What are you doing here? Don't you know it's busy out there?" "Sorry, I'll be right there."

Edwina hurried to put on her heels and couldn't help but whimper when she touched the wound.

"What's wrong with you?" The manager asked hurriedly.

She smiled and shook her head, "Nothing, just a blister on my foot, I've put a band-aid on it."

The manager looked at her foot and frowned, "Is it really okay?"

"It's fine, isn't that what happens when you wear high heels? Just get used to it."

The manager nodded, "That's good, hurry up and go out and help."

The tone of voice was noticeably softer.

Edwina nodded her head and hurried out.

It was another couple of hours of work until the mall closed and the restaurant followed suit, and all the waiters began to tidy up the shop.

Edwina felt as if her body was falling apart, sore everywhere, and had never wanted to go home so badly to rest.

She and her colleague walked out of the underground car park and headed for the bus stop.

She had just reached the platform when a car pulled up in front of her.

At first, she thought it was to pick up someone else and stepped away to the side.

"Edwina."

Suddenly a familiar voice came to her ears.

She turned her head, looked at the voice and saw Thomas in the driver's seat.

"Edwina, isn't that your friend?" Her colleague was even more surprised than she was, grabbing the hem of her shirt and yelling.

"You keep your voice down." Edwina looked around in embarrassment before walking over, bending down and looking into the car, "What brings you here?" Thomas laughed, "Do you believe me when I say I was passing by?"

If it had been daytime, maybe she would have believed it.

But it was so late...

Seeing that she was really thinking seriously, the smile on Thomas' face deepened and he lifted his chin, "Get in the car, I'll take you back." Edwina looked at her colleague with difficulty, thought about it and asked cautiously, "Can you please take my colleague home as well?" Thomas nodded without hesitation, "Sure, all get in."

The colleague was very happy to hear this and hurriedly pushed Edwina into the car.

Once in the car, the colleague could not resist asking, "Excuse me, are you Edwina's suitor?"

"Alger Godbold, what are you asking blindly?" Edwina was so ashamed that she called him by his first name.

Alger poured out a look of hatred, "I'm trying to help you. What if he's up to no good if I don't ask for you?"

"Mr. Thomas is not that kind of person."

Edwina was afraid that Thomas would get angry and hastened to explain, "Mr. Thomas, my colleague is joking, don't worry."

Thomas glanced up at the rear-view mirror and could see her panicking despite the dimness of the car.

He couldn't help but smile, "I wouldn't worry about it."

"You've said he's not that kind of guy, surely he wouldn't mind me asking that question either." Alger grinned and looked at Thomas in the driver's seat, "You think so, don't you, Mr. Thomas." "Hmm." Thomas nodded.

"Then you haven't answered my question." Alger looked expectant.

"That's enough from you, Alger," Edwina was really angry and she pulled Alger, "You be quiet and stop talking."

Just then, Thomas suddenly said, "Yes, I do like Edwina."

At these words, the car fell silent.

After a moment, Alger burst out laughing, "I was right."

Edwina looked at Thomas in disbelief, she hadn't expected him to come right out and confess.

Thomas glanced back at her and teased, "Shocked? I thought you already knew."

What do you mean she already knew?

She didn't know anything at all!

"Mr. Thomas, you can't be joking, can you?" Edwina still didn't believe it.

"I'm not joking, I really mean it. I was going to wait until my BOSS returned home before I confessed my love to you."

Edwina frowned, "So what do you mean now?"

"It means that my boss is back in the country."

Alger nudged Edwina, "People Mr. Thomas has said it so bluntly, what about you? What do you have to say?"

What could she have to say.

Edwina smiled awkwardly, "Let's not talk about that."

"Why not?" Alger looked at her in wonder.

"Alger, I'm begging you, will you please stop talking?" Edwina pleaded with her in a small voice.

Alger looked at Thomas in the driver's seat, then at her, and brushed it off, "Fine."

The car fell silent.

Edwina looked at Thomas and turned her head to look out the window, looking a little overwhelmed.

After dropping Alger off at home, Edwina and Thomas were left in the car.

The atmosphere was a little awkward for a while.

Thomas suddenly regretted a little that he had been too impulsive, making his feelings known in such an informal setting.

"Mr. Thomas," Edwina started.

"Hmm."

"I'm sorry, I don't want to talk about my feelings just yet."

Her voice was a little low, but Thomas could still hear her clearly, and although he was a little hurt inside, he smiled and reassured her, "It's okay, it's not like I'm saying I want you to be with me right now, I just want to tell you that I like you." "Oh."

The car was quiet again.

Thomas, worried that she might think more of it, added, "Just think of it as me talking nonsense today, don't take it to heart."

"I didn't take it to heart."

It was clear that he was more upset by his own rejection, yet he had to comfort her.

Edwina instantly felt a little bad, "Mr. Thomas, no matter what, we're still friends."

"Well, friends." Thomas nodded, a bitter smile spreading across his lips.

Edwina said "thank you" and opened the door to get out of the car, which slowly pulled up in front of the neighbourhood.

Seeing her waving her hand at him and turning towards the neighbourhood, Thomas was moved to open the door and hurry out of the car, running towards her. "Edwina."

He grabbed her wrist and Edwina had to stop and turn around, looking at him steadily.

Thomas took a deep breath and looked sincere, "I know you don't want to talk about your feelings for now, but if you ever want to, could you consider me?" For a moment, Edwina didn't know what to do with his sincerity.

Knowing that he had embarrassed her again, Thomas slowly let go of her hand and smiled apologetically, "Sorry, just pretend I didn't say that."

With those words, he turned to leave.

Looking at his forlorn back, Edwina didn't dare to say anything, even though her heart was overwhelmed.

She knew that if she didn't like someone, she shouldn't give the slightest hope to the other party, lest she hurt them.
