Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1228: Maybe it's a coincidence
Edwina had been up all night, tossing and turning, thinking about Thomas's confession.
She hadn't known Thomas for very long, but he had been nice to her, and if she could have, she would have been more polite then, instead of being so direct.
When she arrived at the Western restaurant to get ready for work, Alger pulled her to the side and asked in a whisper, "Did you say yes to Mr. Thomas?" Edwina shook her head, "No."
"Why?" Alger was puzzled, "Was Mr. Thomas bad?"
"It's good, but I don't like it."
Alger couldn't help but sigh and said in a tone of hatred, "Why are you so stupid? You can try it even if you don't like it, maybe you will."
Edwina bit her lip, "Actually ..."
"Actually what?" Alger interrupted her impatiently, "I'm really going to be pissed at you. In your situation it's hard to replace a man willing to help you raise a child together, and now that it's so easy to appear, you're turning it down! I'm really ..." Alger was really pissed off and didn't even know what to say.
Edwina looked at her with amusement, "Why are you so angry? I'm not even in a hurry, what's your hurry?"
"I ... I'm not just seeing you working so hard and feeling sorry for you!" Alger huffed and turned sideways.
"Okay, I know I'm wrong, don't be angry." Edwina threw her arms around her and pouted.
Alger turned his head to glare at her, "You're not pouting with me, you might as well go pout to Mr. Thomas."
"Nonsense!" Edwina glared at her indifferently and pulled away, "The anniversary party is tonight, have fun, don't be angry."
"I'm really losing it to you." Alger shook his head and lost his smile.
"I know you feel sorry for me, I'll think about what you said."
"Better yet." Alger sighed heavily, "It would be easier for you to have a man willing to take it on for you."
Edwina pursed her lips, "Actually, I'd prefer to be on my own."
"Don't think you're Superman, I'll see what you do when you collapse from exhaustion one day."
It was only because of how hard she had worked over the past few years that Alger had seen how hard she had worked that he had especially wished for a good man to take care of her.
"I know." Edwina caught a glimpse of the manager coming in and hurriedly said, "The manager is here, no more."
She patted Alger on the shoulder and quickly returned to her work.
The manager gathered everyone for a meeting and told them that they would only be open for half a day today and that they could leave in the afternoon.
"The evening is the mall's anniversary party, so I hope you all have a good time."
Everyone cheered out, a big smile on everyone's face.
"Edwina, you come with me."
Edwina, who was chatting with some colleagues, heard the voice and turned her head, only to see the manager gesturing for her to come aside. She hurriedly walked over, "Manager, what are your orders?"
"Each shop will send a representative to speak on stage at today's party, the boss asked me to decide the candidate myself, and I recommended you." "Manager, I... I'm afraid I can't."
Always knew that the manager looked after her, but there was no need to do so.
Such an important occasion...
It really wasn't that she didn't have confidence, but she really couldn't do it, and there was even the possibility of losing face for the restaurant.
"If I say you can, you can." The manager had quite a lot of confidence in her.
Edwina cried and laughed, "Manager, you really better let someone else on."
"Edwina, if you refuse again, I'll get angry." The manager snapped her face up.
"I ..." Edwina had no choice but to stiffen her head and agree, "Okay, all at your disposal."
As soon as she agreed, the manager immediately showed a smile, "That's right, I'm sure you can do it."
The manager gave her a heavy pat on the shoulder to show his confidence in her.
Edwina reluctantly tugged at the corners of her mouth, but her heart was in agony.
She had hoped to relax for the evening, but she had been given such an important task that her whole mood was heavy.
When Alger saw her approaching with her head hanging down, he asked hastily with concern, "Did the manager scold you?"
"No." Edwina shook her head, "I'd rather have been scolded."
"Then what's wrong?"
Edwina took a deep breath, "She asked me to speak on stage tonight on behalf of the restaurant."
"That good?" Alger's eyes widened in surprise.
Edwina frowned, "Where's this good?"
"Where is this not good? Think about a big occasion like tonight, there's bound to be a lot of aristocratic elites in attendance, maybe you'll even hook up with a golden boy with this appearance on stage." "Oh." Edwina sneered, "How about I let you have this great opportunity?"
"No need." Alger refused without hesitation.
Edwina didn't understand when she refused so simply, "Didn't you say this was a good opportunity? Why don't you want it if I let you have it?" Alger grinned, "Because you need it more than I do."
"You!" Edwina waved her hand, "Forget it, don't bother talking to you."
She might as well think about what she was going to say tonight.
...
Eloise was up early and busy in the kitchen as she had volunteered that she could prepare breakfast all by herself.
So Hardcastle left the whole kitchen to her.
After an hour or so of work, she brought the porridge to the table and set out the various small dishes that she had so carefully prepared.
She knew that Hector's favourite dish was the omelette, and she had prepared it especially for him.
It was particularly satisfying to look at the table she had so carefully prepared for breakfast.
Although he had forgotten about her, she was sure he would feel familiar after eating the food she had made.
"Miss they're coming down, you should hide in the kitchen." The butler hurried in.
Eloise peered out just in time to see Earlene and Hector coming towards the dining room and she turned and ran into the kitchen in a hurry. As she hid, she sighed, when would this day ever end?
As soon as she walked into the dining room, Earlene saw the table of dishes and frowned, "Why have you prepared so much today?"
The butler hastened to reply, "Yesterday I saw that Prince Hector did not like Western food, so I had the kitchen prepare a Chinese breakfast." Earlene didn't doubt it and pulled out a chair and sat down.
Hector sat down next to her.
The butler served the porridge separately and then withdrew, leaving them both alone.
Hector took a sip of the porridge first and then the fried egg, and was a little surprised when the bite went down.
"They know I like half-cooked omelettes?" He turned to Earlene and asked her.
Earlene glanced at the egg on his plate and frowned slightly, "I didn't say that."
"Did you?" Hector didn't think too deeply about it, "It's probably a coincidence then."
Eloise, hiding in the kitchen, heard the words and slowly curled her mouth.
It's not a coincidence, it's something I prepared for you on purpose.
