Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1229: You'd better behave

After breakfast, Earlene sent Hector upstairs and then called the butler over. "Ted, tell me honestly, who made the breakfast today?"

"It's... is the new maid." The housekeeper still hid it for Eloise.

But Earlene was a smart man and guessed it at once, "It's that Elo, isn't it?"

The butler could only nod, "Yes."

Earlene narrowed her eyes and said in a cold voice, "Get her over here." The butler could only go to the kitchen and call someone.

"Elo, the lady is looking for you."

Eloise was puzzled when she heard this, "For me?"

"She knows that you made breakfast today."

"And?"

Was she going to be bothered because she had made breakfast?

The housekeeper sighed, "Don't ask, go on, before Miss gets angry."

In desperation, Eloise had no choice but to meekly go and see Earlene.

Earlene sat in the living room, her body leaning back against the sofa, her legs folded, her arms wrapped around her chest, her expression arrogant. Eloise took a deep breath and walked over with her head bowed.

"Miss, you wanted to see me."

Earlene raised her eyes, her warmless gaze falling on her, "Did you make breakfast today?"

"Yes."

"How do you know what Prince Hector likes to eat?" Earlene narrowed her eyes, a glare in them.

"What does Prince Hector like to eat? I don't know." Eloise put on a puzzled look.

Earlene raised an eyebrow, "You don't know?"

Eloise shook her head, "I don't know."

"Really?"

"Really." Eloise nodded vigorously, "Did Prince Hector like the breakfast today? I suppose it's just a coincidence."

"Coincidence?" Earlene repeated the words and whirled out a laugh that didn't reach her icy eyes, "He said it was a coincidence too, and it really is."

"Miss, if you don't like it, I just won't do it in the future." Eloise said cautiously.

Earlene got up and walked past her, then suddenly her footsteps stopped and she turned back to give her a cold glance, "You better not let me replace out what you're up to or I won't spare you lightly." Eloise was stunned, then reacted and hurriedly lowered her head and said respectfully, "Don't worry Miss, I have no intention whatsoever, I just want to earn money to cure my mother."

"I don't want to know about your business. This is the Bartram family, you'd better behave yourself."

"Yes."

Earlene marched off and Eloise let out a huge sigh of relief.

When she had known her before, she hadn't even known she had such a temperament.

It really was a testament to the saying.

You don't know who you are, you don't know who you are.

The housekeeper saw Earlene go upstairs before she dared to come over and reprimanded in a low voice, "From now on, you just be a good helper, okay?"

Knowing that the butler had her best interests at heart, Eloise didn't feel bad about his harsh tone, instead she smiled and nodded, "I know, Ted."

"You child." The housekeeper shook his head helplessly, "And I don't know what's wrong with Miss, I've never seen her so stern with any of the servants before." "Probably in fear." Eloise muttered.

The butler didn't catch it, "What did you say?"

Eloise laughed, "I said that Mademoiselle is also being so careful for the good of the Bartram family."

The housekeeper nodded approvingly, "Probably. You're right to be careful anyway."

"Good."

Eloise turned her head to look upstairs, the smile on her lips deepening a few notches.

Either way, she'd made breakfast and Hector had eaten it all.

...

As soon as the afternoon was over, Edwina went straight home.

She changed into the dress that Eloise had lent her and put on some simple make-up.

Looking at herself in the mirror, she took a few deep breaths to cheer herself up, "Edwina, don't be afraid, it's just a speech on stage, right? There's nothing to be afraid of." Although she was reassuring herself, she could not help but feel nervous.

At that moment, her mobile phone suddenly rang outside, which really scared her.

She rushed out, picked up the phone and saw that it was Edgar.

Edwina's eyebrows knitted together, why was he calling her at this hour?

She picked up, "Mr. Edgar."

Edgar was driving, he looked down at his watch and asked, "Edwina, where are you now?"

"Home. What's wrong?"

"I'm coming to pick you up."

Edwina was surprised to hear that he was coming to pick her up, "You're coming to pick me up?"

"Aren't you going to the party tonight too?"

"Yeah."

Wait, he used the word 'also', did...

She subconsciously gripped her phone tighter, "Are you going too?"

"Yeah. Why else would I be there to pick you up."

Edwina bit her lip, although she was happy that he was coming over to pick her up, it didn't seem right for the two of them to appear at the party together. So, she refused.

"No, I'll go over by myself later."

Edgar was a little surprised, "Why?"

"We're attending the party in different capacities, and it's not a bit nice for me to be with you."

She didn't want to make him the subject of public discussion because of herself.

"What's wrong with that?" Edgar couldn't understand her scruples, "You're my date, what's wrong with us being together?"

"Female companion?"

The surprise in her voice could be heard through the receiver and Edgar couldn't help but laugh, "Yes, I just came over to ask you to be my date."

The bottom line was that something else might happen tonight and he had to be prepared in advance.

He needed her help.

There was a silence on the other side of the phone and Edgar raised an eyebrow, "You don't want to?" "Of course I do." Edwina answered back in a rush.

Then realising she had answered too quickly, she explained, "It would be an honour to be your date." Edgar laughed out loud, "Edwina, why are you so cute? There's no need to be so polite."

The cheerful smile reached her ears through the receiver and rippled like a stone thrown into a lake. He had complimented her on her cuteness.

She hurriedly lifted her hand to cover her burning face and said, "I'm not being polite."

"Shall I come over and pick you up?" Edgar asked tentatively.

He had said that, and it would really be a bit of a stretch for her to refuse.

"Yeah, I'll wait for you."

Edgar smiled, "I'll be right there."

After hanging up the phone, Edwina sat on her butt on the couch and couldn't help but giggle.

She was going to be at a party with the man she liked, and as his date.

On second thought, she thought of something particularly important.

He would be able to see her when she spoke on stage during the evening. Oh God!

It had been so easy to not be so nervous, and now she was nervous again.

No, she had to memorise the script, otherwise it would be bad if she made a fool of herself then.

It didn't matter to anyone else, the most important thing was that she didn't want to make a fool of herself in front of him.

Thinking of this, she hurriedly picked up her phone, opened the draft she had written and memorized it carefully.
