Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1230: So it's a friend

Edgar parked his car at the entrance of the neighborhood and called Edwina.

"I'm at the entrance of the neighborhood, come out."

With a "yes", the phone hung up.

About ten minutes later, Edwina's figure appeared at the entrance of the neighbourhood.

When Edgar saw her jogging over, the corners of his mouth involuntarily rose and even his eyes became gentle.

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting." Edwina got into the car and Edwina gasped for breath.

"Actually, you don't have to be in such a hurry." Edgar smiled at her and started the car without any haste.

On the way to the party, Edwina holds her phone and recites the script.

She was very serious and mumbled the words under her breath.

Curious, Edgar turned his head to look at her phone and saw that it was dense with words.

"What's this?" He asked.

Edwina turned her head to look at him and smiled softly, "It's the script, I have to speak on stage tonight on behalf of the restaurant."

Speaking of it, she bristled and worried, "I'm afraid I'll be so nervous by then that I'll keep making mistakes."

"Then relax, you just think of everyone down there as some big carrot and cabbage, and you won't be nervous." "Pfft-"

Edwina couldn't help but laugh, "Mr. Edgar, why are you so funny?"

Treating people like big carrots and cabbages, thanks to him for thinking of that.

"I saw this on TV, try it if you're nervous, it might actually work."

He was being sincere in his advice to her, so Edwina put away her smile and nodded seriously, "Okay, I'll try it then."

...

The Boone Family's mall anniversary party was something Elva had been looking forward to for a long time, and she woke up early in the morning and went straight to the beauty salon. It was clear how much she valued the party tonight.

Elaborately dressed, she and her family arrived at the hotel early, ready to greet the guests.

When she saw Edgar and Edwina at the other end of the red carpet, her whole face changed instantly.

How could that woman be with Edgar?

Anger and jealousy surged through her, and not caring about the guests, she lifted the skirt of her dress and walked quickly towards the two.

It was not the first time Edwina had attended such an event, but she was still nervous.

Sensing her nervousness, Edgar took her hand and slipped it around his arm.

Edwina turned her head, her big beautiful eyes staring at him in surprise.

"Don't be nervous, I'm here."

I don't know if it was just me, but tonight he was really gentle, so gentle that her whole heart fluttered.

Edwina was afraid that she would fall deeper into his tenderness and not be able to get out, so she secretly told herself not to think too much about it, that he was simply trying to help her. Taking a deep breath, Edwina lifted her chin and walked down the aisle with his hand in hers.

"Edgar."

A fragrant breeze hit her, and before she could see who was coming, Edwina was pushed away with force.

In her high heels, she lost her weight and fell backwards.

"Edgar reached out to grab her, but he couldn't move because he was being held tightly around her waist. It was over!

It was really going to be a disaster!

Edwina closed her eyes in resignation.

Just as she thought she was going to fall hard to the ground, a strong arm wrapped around her waist. The sky spun.

She opened her eyes and met a pair of eyes full of worry.

"Mr. Edwards!" she cried out in surprise.

Edwards helped her to her feet and asked with concern, "Are you all right?"

Edwina shook her head, "I'm fine."

Edgar looked at them, his eyes too deep to see a hint of emotion, his thin lips pursed into a straight line.

"Edgar, that's my brother, he's so into Miss. Edwina." Elva clutched her arms tightly, the corners of her mouth curling up in triumph.

Her brother hadn't let her down, knowing how to show up at the most crucial moments.

At her words, Edgar's eyes flickered and he pushed her hand away, walking up to Edwina.

"Edgar!" said Elva, hurrying to follow.

"Are you all right?" His tone was noticeably colder for a few moments.

But Edwina didn't hear it and smiled brightly, "I'm fine, thanks to Mr. Edwards saving me."

"Thank you." Edgar thanked Edwards politely.

Edwards raised an eyebrow in surprise, his eyes darting between them, "What is your relationship with Edwina? Why are you thanking her for her?"

"Yeah, Edgar, why are you thanking her for her?" Elva yelled in displeasure as she glared at Edwina with hatred.

Edwina didn't expect Edgar to do that, and since Elva was there, she didn't want to cause any misunderstanding, so she hurriedly replied, "We are just friends." At the word 'friends', Edgar's brow furrowed slightly.

Edwards noticed and curled his lips in recognition, saying meaningfully, "Friends, then."

Edgar looked over at him, his brow furrowed.

He smiled and introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Elva's brother, Edwards."

Elva tightened her arms around Edgar again, "Brother, we're all family from now on, no need to be so polite."

As she said this, she glanced at Edwina with a smug look, a very strong sign of sovereignty.

The smile on Edwina's face faded for a few moments, her eyes fell on the hand she was holding on Edgar's arm, and her heart was a little bored.

"Edgar, my parents have been talking about you, let's go over to them." Elva said.

Edgar looked to Edwina, "Together?"

Edwina shook her head in a hurry, "No, you guys go, I'll go with Mr. Edwards."

"But..."

Although she knew that Edwards was only her sister's friend, Edgar was still uneasy, who knew if Edwards had any thoughts about her.

But before she could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Elva, "Edgar, there is my brother accompanying Miss. Edwina, you can rest assured."

With those words, she pulled Edgar in the direction of her parents.

Turning her head to look at their distant backs, Edwina felt a sense of loss.

Edwards followed her line of sight and the corners of his mouth curled up, "My sister seems to like Edgar a lot."

"Does she?" Edwina reluctantly tugged at the corner of her mouth.

Edwards withdrew his gaze and landed on her small, clear face, his sword eyebrows raised, "And you?"

Edwina froze, "What?"

Edwards

gave a meaningful smile, "You like him too, don't you?"

"I don't." Edwina averted her eyes sheepishly, not daring to meet his gaze.

"I'm not blind, I can see you like him a lot."

Edwina lowered her head and ticked the corners of her mouth in self-deprecation.

Was she acting so obvious?

Feeling a little lost in her emotions, Edwards patted her shoulder and said reassuringly, "I was just asking, nothing more."

Edwina raised her head, her eyes unusually bright, "Mr. Edwards, he and I are from two worlds and I don't dare to like him, so you don't have to worry that I will ruin your sister's relationship." Having said that, she bowed towards him and turned to walk away.

Edwards was a little teary-eyed; he hadn't meant that at all.

He was just trying to be concerned about her feelings as an older brother.
