Love Comes To Me
Chapter 123: Is it her that Egbert Chumley likes?

After Egbert Chumley's presentation, there was a question and answer session, where questions were then taken from those on stage.

One of the girls who was drawn asked gossipingly, "Mr Egbert, I want to ask, you mentioned the girl you worked with in college, did you get together afterwards?"

At that, everyone's eyes were full of curiosity, after all, Egbert Chumley's status is not ordinary, plus he is handsome, who wouldn't be attracted to him? But I didn't realise that there was someone living in his heart all along. Reeva Lawson looked at Hector Rogers and smiled, "Looks like I'm not the only one who's curious!"

Hector Rogers did not speak, his gaze faintly surveying Egbert Chumley on stage.

At this point, Egbert Chumley was heard to speak with a smile, "No, she had a crush at the time, but I recently learned that she no longer has a crush, so I plan to pursue her."

As he spoke, Egbert Chumley's eyes went to Eloise Thompson.

This reunion, he must woo her properly.

Looking at each other and noticing a strange look in his eyes, Eloise Thompson had a bad feeling in her heart. She couldn't help but remember their reunion in the café a few weeks ago, when Egbert Chumley asked her if she had a boyfriend and she herself was in the student union, when she happened to have a crush on Robbie Gardner.

So many coincidences that Eloise Thompson had to wonder if ... Egbert Chumley liked the person who was her? Eloise Thompson's heart was racing, she was on pins and needles, and she wanted to replace a hole to burrow into. The girl went on to ask, "Wow! So Mr Egbert has had a crush on that girl all these years? And is she there now?" The words were spoken and the crowd looked at Egbert Chumley in confusion.

Eloise Thompson's body was tense, she dreaded to think if it was really herself that Egbert Chumley liked ...

Hector Rogers had a dangerous twinkle in his eye and if Egbert Chumley had said yes, the crowd would have been up in arms asking who he was and probably just confessed to Eloise Thompson in the first place. Egbert Chumley on stage spoke nonchalantly, "Sorry, she's not in today."

In fact, he wanted to say that he was in, but with so many people present, he was afraid of scaring Eloise Thompson, who didn't like him yet, and if he did, she would know that she was the one he liked.

Knowing Egbert Chumley's knowledge of Eloise Thompson, she would have made her heart known to herself and probably avoided him if she ever saw him again.

As much as he likes Eloise Thompson, he also knows that you can't rush this kind of thing, you have to take your time.

"Is that so? Well, that's a shame, Mr Egbert, good luck with that girl! You've liked her for so many years, you're bound to get together."

At these words, Hector Rogers said to himself, "No way, no matter what, they can't be together.

Egbert Chumley smiled and spoke politely, "Thank you."

This girl's question ended and two more were drawn, but the question asked had nothing to do with who Egbert Chumley liked.

Eloise Thompson sat back in her seat with a huge sigh of relief throughout.

It was a misunderstanding, and it's a good thing Egbert Chumley didn't like her, or it would have been embarrassing. Eloise Thompson didn't even think that Alumni, whom she had always admired and respected, would like her. How could such a wonderful Alumni like someone like her? Thinking about it, Eloise Thompson wondered who it was that Egbert Chumley liked.

Hector Rogers was sitting on the sidelines, he was in a bad mood, but watching Eloise Thompson's reaction throughout, he was in a good mood, the girl, it seems, hasn't realised that it's her that Egbert Chumley likes! What a lovely retard.

Reeva Lawson looked over to Hector Rogers and found him looking at Eloise Thompson with a faint smile on his face.

At once, a gloom flashed in her eyes.

Next, Egbert Chumley's speech sort of ended with a thunderous round of applause.

He walked off the stage and went to the empty seat by Eloise Thompson and sat down with a small smile on his face, then spoke up and asked, "How was it?"

"That was a great speech by Alumni!" Eloise Thompson's sincere compliment, and indeed it was, Egbert Chumley's speech, which was good throughout.

Egbert Chumley smiled and said nothing more as the event continued.

Hector Rogers narrowed his eyes slightly at Egbert Chumley, who looked up in return, and their eyes brushed the air across Eloise Thompson.

The atmosphere became a little strange for a while as the four of them sat next to each other, each with his or her own agenda.

Only Eloise Thompson, unaware of the strong smell of gunpowder around her, and even less aware of Reeva Lawson's jealous eyes, was still thinking of Egbert Chumley, and although she was relieved, she still had a strange feeling in her heart, so she subconsciously avoided Egbert Chumley's gaze.

In the blink of an eye, an hour passed and towards the end of the speech, the headmaster came on stage to give a speech and after some words, spoke in a solemn tone, "Next, we have the president of Rogers Group on stage to give our grand finale."

The name Hector Rogers is virtually unknown in A-town, and the crowd was stunned to hear that he was going to speak on stage.

"Ah, I can't believe it's Hector Rogers' finale speech... I'm so excited!"

"I've heard for a long time that the president of Rogers Group is very handsome, but I'm surprised to see him in person today!"

"U of J is really something, to have Hector Rogers here, amazing!"

The murmur was accompanied by loud applause from the stage.

Eloise Thompson also froze, seemingly not expecting Hector Rogers to be here for the school's celebration, even if he was the guest speaker for the finale.

Hector Rogers stood up and walked towards the stage.

The man was handsome and dignified, revealing an elegant and noble aura with every step he took. A handsome face seemed to have been carefully carved by God, perfect beyond molestation, and everyone's eyes were unconsciously drawn to him, with their gaze locked on his body.

The girls, in particular, were so excited to see Hector Rogers' face that they could barely stop screaming.

Eloise Thompson's eyes could not help but be drawn to Hector Rogers, who spoke on stage with remarkable confidence, his beautiful, magnetic voice echoing throughout the auditorium.

The auditorium was quiet, almost everyone was looking at him on stage, the girls with adoration, the boys with admiration and some of the seniors with appreciation.

For a moment, Eloise Thompson couldn't help but feel a little dazed.

Maybe that's the difference! Between them, they were really far, far apart, so far that Eloise Thompson felt out of reach when it was clear he was standing on the stage. He was like the pride of the heavens, while he, himself, was just an ordinary member of the masses.

Eloise Thompson's eyes were downcast as the hard, mixed emotions came over her again.

The corner of Reeva Lawson's mouth ticked up, her gaze similarly locked on Hector Rogers, a man so fine, destined to be hers.
