Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1242: How Dare I Exalt You
Edwina got on the bus and took a seat in the last row.
She turned her head to look out of the window at the flashing street scene, and a faint sadness rose to the bottom of her eyes. It was over.
A relationship that had ended before it had a chance to begin.
In the future, she might never see Edgar again.
When she thought of this, the tip of her nose turned sour and a thin mist formed under her eyes.
She raised her hand to wipe it away.
There was nothing to cry about.
She and he were already two worlds apart, and this time she was officially done with him.
But her heart still ached.
When she arrived at the restaurant, Edwina went straight to the staff changing room.
After changing into her uniform, she was ready to go out when she saw Alger rushing in. "Edwina."
Edwina asked as she tied her apron, "What's wrong?"
"Someone is looking for you."
"Who?"
Edwina frowned, who would be looking for her in the restaurant this early in the morning?
A person suddenly came to mind.
She laughed to herself, how could it be him?
Alger swallowed and said back, "It's Edgar."
Edwina froze, it was really him.
Squeezing her small hands tight, she said, "Tell him I'm busy and don't have time to see him."
Alger looked her up and down and frowned suspiciously, "But you're not busy."
Edwina was a little bemused, "Can't you hear that I don't want to see him?"
"Oh." Alger turned to go out, then thought of something and turned back, confusion written all over his face, "Why don't you want to see him?" That was the president of the Khan Group, the man of many women's dreams, and she didn't want to see him, so that was too much of a stretch. "Alger!"
When she called him by his name, Alger knew she was angry, so he stuck his tongue out and smiled ingratiatingly, "I'll go out and tell him." With that, he ran out in a huff.
He couldn't get out himself for the moment.
Edwina simply sat down in a side chair, with some mixed feelings.
She didn't know what Edgar had come to see her about, but she didn't want to see him if she could, lest her resolve be shaken again. Alger stepped out of the restaurant and caught a glimpse of the man standing at the railing. She paused and hesitated before walking over to him. "Mr Farabee, sorry, Edwina was busy and couldn't come out to see you."
She clearly saw the disappointment that showed on the man's clear, handsome face.
She opened her mouth to persuade him to come back another day, but when she thought of Edwina's attitude, she swallowed her words. Edwina didn't want to see him, so she must have her own concerns.
"When will she be done?" Edgar asked.
He knew very well that Edwina didn't want to see him, not that she was too busy to see him.
But he didn't want to just give up.
He really wanted to talk to her properly.
Alger's eyes drifted down, "This ... is something I'm not sure about."
Edgar thought for a moment and asked, "Is it okay if I go inside and wait for her?"
"If you're dining, sure, but if you're just waiting for Edwina, then I'm afraid not."
Edgar looked into the shop and pondered for a moment before saying, "I'll just have something to eat then."
Anyway, he must have a good talk with Edwina today, no matter what.
Edwina came out and was stunned for a moment when she saw Edgar sitting in the corner, and when she reacted, she ran to Alger.
"Why didn't you tell me he'd come in the shop?"
Faced with her question, Alger gave an apologetic smile, "I'm sorry, he wouldn't let me talk about it, so I didn't tell you."
"Are you still my friend or not?" Edwina got angry.
"Well, don't be angry." Alger pointed to the man in the corner and advised in a low voice, "For the sake of him being so persistent, just meet with him." "You have no idea ...," Edwina said with a pang of annoyance inside her.
She really didn't want to get too close to Edgar again, it wouldn't do her any good, it would just get her deeper and deeper into it.
Alger sighed, "Yes, I do not know. But whatever is going on between you two, it has to be spelled out in person."
Edwina calmed down and apologised softly, "I'm sorry, I was a bit annoyed, so my tone was a bit heavy."
"It's okay." Alger patted her on the shoulder, "Instead, are you okay?"
"I ..." Edwina pursed her lips, "Once I've cleared it with him, then it'll be fine."
With that, she was about to walk towards Edgar when Alger pulled her back.
"Edwina, whatever conflict you have with him, you try to keep your emotions in check, okay?" Alger explained uneasily.
After all, the other party was the president of a big conglomerate, it was not good to offend him.
Knowing what she was worried about, Edwina patted her when and said soothingly, "Don't worry, it will be fine."
Seeing Edwina approaching, Edgar hurriedly stood up, a pair of deep eyes locked on her clear little face. "Edwina."
He called out softly as she approached.
Edwina looked at him expressionlessly and asked in an indifferent tone, "Mr Edgar, may I ask what you want?"
Her indifferent attitude made Edgar's heart clench into a tight ball.
"Edwina, when did we become such strangers to each other? Aren't we friends?"
"You are the president of the Khan Group, and I am just a junior employee of the restaurant, how dare I overstep you?"
Her words sounded like a cone drilling into his heart in a very uncomfortable way.
Edgar frowned, "Since when did you learn to speak in such a shady manner?"
Calling her grim?
Edwina's eyes flashed slightly, her little face grew colder, she turned sideways and made a gesture of invitation, "The door is over there, please ask Mr Edgar to leave on his own." There was nothing to say between them, she thought.
Edgar burst into tears, "Edwina, what have I done to you? Do you have to treat me with such an attitude?"
Edwina pursed her lips tightly and kept quiet.
Seeing this, Edgar sighed softly, "If you are angry about the other night, I apologise. It's true that I wasn't thoughtful at the time and that's why I embarrassed you."
At the mention of that night, Edwina closed her eyes for a few seconds, then swung them open and looked at him coldly, "Mr Edgar, you are the one who is going to get engaged, it is better not to come to me again, I am afraid that it will cause unnecessary misunderstanding."
"I'm not getting engaged!" Edgar's voice was a little loud in his haste and the rest of the restaurant looked towards them.
Edgar calmed down, took Edwina's wrist and said, "You come with me, we have to talk things out."
Without waiting for Edwina to react, he pulled the man straight outside.
Not far away, Alger watched them go out, his eyebrows locked up in worry.
What was this Edwina's problem with Edgar anyway?
"Ivor, was that man Edgar just now?" The manager walked up to her and opened his mouth to ask.
Alger hurriedly replied, "Yes, it was Edgar."
Receiving the affirmative answer, the manager's face instantly turned gloomy.
