Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1252: Out of my depth
Edgar looked up at Edwina who was eating, thought for a moment and put down his chopsticks.
"Edwina, there's something I have to tell you in advance."
"Hmm?" Edwina looked at him with a bewildered expression.
Edgar pondered for a moment before speaking slowly, "Do you know that I, Hector, have returned to China?" Edwina was surprised by the news, "Back home?"
"Yes." Edgar nodded, "But he's lost his memory."
"How did that happen?" Edwina stopped eating, "So Miss. Eloise isn't very upset?"
"Eloise is indeed upset, but is also trying to figure out how to get my Hector's memory back."
Edwina thought for a moment, "So does this... thing have anything to do with what you are about to tell me?"
"My Hector is in the Bartram family now and so is Eloise and she needs my help."
At that, Edgar paused as he wondered how best to tell her.
"How is Miss. Eloise in the Bartram family?"
"I'll tell you about that later, slowly. The most important thing now is that I may ask Earlene out alone afterwards, and I hope you don't get the wrong idea."
After saying that, Edgar looked at her seriously, afraid that she might mind.
Edwina furrowed her brows, not understanding what he meant, "Can you be more clear?"
"Earlene likes me Hector."
One sentence said it all.
Edwina understood, "What was said on the internet earlier about you suspending your work with Bartram Group because of love and hate was actually a lie, it was actually because of Miss. Eloise's husband?" "Hmm." Edgar nodded, "It was to force Earlene to hand the man over that had to be used that way."
"When you said Miss. Eloise needed your help, was it because she couldn't actually see her husband at the Bartram family that she wanted you to ask Earlene out so she could get a chance to meet her husband?" After listening to Edwina's analysis, a hint of appreciation passed through Edgar's eyes, "Edwina, you are very smart."
"It doesn't matter if I'm smart or not." Edwina pursed her lips, "Do whatever you want, I'm all for you."
"Thank you, Edwina," Edgar shook her hand, a little touched in his heart.
"I hope Miss. Eloise's husband will come back to her soon."
Ever since she fell in love with Edgar, she could understand Miss. Eloise's feelings very well.
Edgar smiles, "It will, with your blessing, for sure."
...
After Brimlad had put the two children to bed, she went downstairs to the living room and watched TV while waiting for Edgar.
It was not until almost eleven o'clock that Edgar returned.
As soon as he entered the house, he faintly heard the sound of the television and followed it to replace his mother still awake.
"Mum, what's keeping you up so late?" He asked, puzzled, as he walked over to her.
Brimlad picked up the remote control and turned off the TV, looking up at him with an inquisitive look in his eyes, "Where have you been?"
"Dinner." Edgar tugged at his tie and answered truthfully.
"With who?"
"With...," Edgar almost blurted out, but thankfully braked in time.
His mother didn't like Edwina, he was well aware of that.
So for the time being, he couldn't let her know that he was with Edwina.
He lied casually, "With a few clients."
"Really?" Brimlad didn't believe it.
Edgar laughed, "Of course it's true, why would I lie to you?"
Brimlad raised an eyebrow, "Edgar, you have to remember that you are now the president of the Khan Group, you have to consider the interests of the Khan Group before you do anything, okay?" The deeper meaning in her words, Edgar heard it.
It was nothing but to tell him not to be emotional.
"Mom, is the Khan family important to you, or me?"
"Both are important." Brimlad, Edwina gave a smile, "You and the Khan family are inseparable, one for all, one for all."
This sounded bad to Edgar's ears.
It was as if he had lost some of his freedom for the sake of the Khan family.
He was silent for a few seconds, "Mum, what I would prefer to hear from you is that I am more important."
Brimlad was unimpressed, "I said that you and the Khan family are both important."
Edgar suddenly lost the mood to continue the conversation and tugged at the corners of his mouth, "I'm tired, I'm going upstairs, you go to bed early too."
With those words, he turned around, his complexion sinking for a moment as he lifted his steps towards the stairs.
As she watched him go upstairs, Brimlad's brow slowly knitted.
He was definitely hiding something from her.
Hopefully it wasn't what she feared.
...
When Edwina arrived home, she saw a man sitting in the living room and cried out in shock.
The man heard the sound and turned his head.
When she saw his face, Edwina couldn't help but laugh, looking a little helpless.
"What are you doing here?" She walked over to him.
Edwards got up, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, "I was going to come and talk to you, but I didn't know you weren't home and I didn't feel comfortable with Bonnie being alone so I stayed with him." "Where's Bonnie?" Edwina asked.
"Asleep."
Edwards looked her up and down and asked tentatively, "Out on a date?"
Edwina lifted a hand to run a hand through the stray strands of hair on the side of her cheek and nodded, "Yeah."
"With Edgar?"
This time, Edwina was silent.
But her silence meant acquiescence.
What Edwards feared had happened after all.
He sighed heavily, "Edwina, if you know about the marriage between the Khan family and the Boone family, you should not get too close to Edgar again."
If his sister found out about this, she would be in trouble again.
Edwina bit her lip and whispered, "Edgar said that he didn't agree to the marriage at all."
"So?" Edwards asked.
So...
Edwina bit her lip, not making a sound.
Edwards sighed again, "You should know that in a family like his and mine, a lot of things are out of your hands and not up to you."
In fact, what he said, Edwina knew very well in her heart.
But she wanted to gamble that maybe Edgar would be different.
"He told you he didn't say yes to the union, so why is there a press release? But where he didn't say yes, he could have stopped the press release before it came out."
"Mr. Edwards, I understand what you are saying." Edwina looked up at him, the corners of her mouth curling, "But I trust Edgar."
The determination in her eyes left Edwards at a loss for words to persuade her for a moment.
"Mr. Edwards, I like Edgar, this is the first time I like someone so much, and I want to cherish this relationship."
Edwards gripped her shoulders, "You're going to get hurt, you know that?"
Edwina laughed unconcernedly, "What kind of relationship is smooth sailing? If you get hurt, you get hurt, at least he liked me, didn't he?"
"Edwina!" said Edwards, feeling a little powerless all of a sudden.
Edwina gave him a reassuring smile, "Mr. Edwards, don't worry, I won't get hurt because I trust Edgar."
Edwards collapsed his shoulders in frustration, "Alright, let's hope Edgar is worthy of your trust."
