Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1259: Hunger Strike
She said she was fine, but her voice was a little muffled and vaguely sobbing.
Edgar closed the papers in his hands, got up, and picked up his jacket hanging on the back of his chair, "Where are you? I'll come and get you." Edwina subconsciously refused, "No need to look for me, it's really nothing."
She didn't want Edgar to see the bruises on her face so he wouldn't worry.
Edgar naturally disagreed, and his voice sank a little, "Edwina, give me the address."
Helpless, Edwina could only give him an address, a food street in Kyoto.
"Mum, what are we doing here?" Bonnie asked curiously when they arrived.
"Uncle Edgar will be coming over to see us later."
"Is Uncle Edgar really coming?" Bonnie was looking forward to it.
Edwina nodded, "Well, really."
She pulled off her hair ringlet and wore her hair down and flicked a few strands to cover the somewhat red side of her face.
She looked at it through the screen of her phone before she was relieved.
This way, it wouldn't be noticed.
Edgar arrived at the location Edwina had mentioned, parked his car and caught a glimpse of Edwina and Bonnie standing outside a takoyaki restaurant through the windscreen.
The corners of his mouth involuntarily rose as he got out of the car and walked towards them.
"Uncle Edgar!" said Bonnie, who saw him first and ran over happily.
Edgar took a serious look at Edwina and saw that she really didn't look all that bad.
Only then did he rub Bonnie's head and ask with a smile, "Did you miss your uncle a lot?"
Bonnie nodded and said loudly in a clear voice, "Yes. I'm not the only one who misses him, my mum misses him too."
"What are you talking about?" Edwina scolded, embarrassed, "Kids don't know what they're talking about."
"Oh?" Edgar raised an eyebrow, "So you don't think about me?"
"I..." in front of the child, Edwina was so ashamed she didn't know how to answer.
Edgar sighed in mock disappointment, "Since you don't want me, I'm leaving."
With that, he turned around and made a move to leave.
"Think about thinking." Edwina hurriedly took his hand.
Edgar laughed out and gazed at her deeply, "I miss you too."
Edwina blushed instantly, not even daring to meet his eyes.
Slightly fumbling, she turned around, "I'm going to get a cup of milk tea."
With those words, she drew her legs and ran to the milk tea shop not far away.
Edgar knew she was shy and with a doting smile, he watched her run away.
"Bonnie, let's go over there too." He took Bonnie's hand and followed her slowly and deliberately.
Edgar spent the evening shopping with Edwina and Bonnie and didn't send them home until it was almost eleven o'clock.
He watched them walk into the neighbourhood before starting the car and leaving.
When he got home, he walked into the house and saw his mother sitting in the living room watching television.
He walked over to her, "Mum, why aren't you in bed?"
Brimlad turned off the TV and turned his head to look at him, "You met up with Earlene?"
Edgar nodded, "Yeah, what's up?"
"Did you see the news?"
"Saw it."
By the look on his face, he didn't seem bothered about the news.
"Isn't there anything you want to say?" Brimlad asked tentatively.
Edgar looked bewildered, "Say what?"
Brimlad was silent for a few seconds before speaking, "Do you still like Earlene?"
Edgar laughed out loud at his mother's serious expression, "Mum, where do you get the idea that I still like Earlene?"
"If you don't like her, why did you ask her to dinner?"
Edgar shook his head helplessly, "I'm just helping Eloise, she's the one who asked me to ask Earlene out."
"Eloise? How does this have anything to do with Eloise again?" Brimlad frowned.
"Because Earlene hasn't been letting her near Hector and had no choice but to ask me."
With this explanation from Edgar, Brimlad understood, and then sighed with relief, "So that's what's going on."
"Mum, what's going on?" Edgar asked suspiciously, seeing that something was wrong with his mother.
"It's not Elva yet," Brimlad shook his head and sighed, "Just because of you and Earlene, her mother has called me several times with a thousand instructions to educate you."
"Educate me?" Edgar found this particularly amusing, "Why should I be educated?"
He wasn't a child now.
"Said Elva saw the news and was so angry she didn't eat all day." Here, Brimlad sighed again, "Elva was also very stubborn, no matter how much your Uncle Ye and the others tried to persuade her, she just wouldn't eat, saying that she wanted you to go and explain the situation to her personally."
At this, Edgar felt helpless, "Mum, I've told you, I don't agree with the marriage between the Khan family and the Boone family, and you don't think I'm going to persuade Elva."
Brimlad frowned, "Edgar, how can you say something like that when Elva hasn't eaten all day?"
"It's enough that she has her parents to feel sorry for her."
Not wanting to waste time on this matter, Edgar changed the subject, "Mum, I'm going upstairs, you too get some rest."
With that, without waiting for Brimlad's reaction, he ran upstairs.
"Edgar!" got Brimlad angry.
But watching his figure disappear from sight, he could only sigh helplessly.
The boy had been very opinionated since he was a child, and I was afraid it would take a while to get him to accept the union.
...
Elva went on a hunger strike for a day and a night and looked very pale.
Elva's parents were very distressed and tried to persuade her to eat, but she wouldn't eat until Edgar came.
Elva's father had no choice but to call Edgar.
"Uncle Boone, good morning."
Edgar's polite voice came over the receiver, and Elva's father frowned and opened the door, "Edgar, did your mother tell you about Elva?" "Yes."
Elva's father frowned even more at that, "If you did, why didn't you come?"
"Uncle Boone, I've been working a lot these days, I'll visit you some other time."
"That's not what I'm talking about!" Elva's father's tone was heavier, "Elva has been hungry all day and all night, she's fainting, so come to the Boone Family." "Uncle Boone, I just can't get away." Edgar politely refused.
Elva's father was furious and his voice rose, "Edgar, Elva is your fiancée, how can you be so indifferent and not worry at all?"
Edgar was silent for a moment, "Uncle Boone, I never agreed to the marriage, so Elva is not my fiancée."
"Edgar, do you know what you're talking about?" Elva's father was shocked by Edgar's comments.
A press release had been sent out about the union, and now he was saying it didn't count.
Was this making fun of the Boone Family?
"Uncle Boone, I'll come and make amends to you personally some day. I have a meeting to attend, goodbye." "Hey! Hey!"
Elva's father didn't expect him to hang up and slammed the phone onto the sofa.
Elva's mother, who had heard the commotion, hurried downstairs, went to him and asked, "What did Edgar say?" "What did it say?" Elva's father smiled coldly, "He said that the union doesn't count and that Elva is not his fiancée!"
