Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1264: What do you want to talk about?
Elva was so happy to see Edgar coming over that she tried to sit up.
Only to be stopped by Brimlad.
"Just lie down, you don't have to get up."
Elva could only lie on the bed, her eyes locked on Edgar's handsome face.
The adoration in her eyes was obvious.
"How are you feeling?" Edgar asked.
"I ... am still a bit sick, but seeing you made me feel better all of a sudden."
Elva sat up despite Brimlad's stop and grabbed his hand, "Edgar, actually none of those things you said were true, were they?" After asking, Elva stared at Edgar expectantly.
"I ..."
"Ahem!"
As Edgar was about to answer, Baggott suddenly coughed lightly, interrupting him, "Elva, of course it's not true."
At that, Edgar turned his head to look at him, surprise written in his eyes.
Baggott ignored it and continued, "Don't get carried away, he's always been more opinionated and doesn't like to be arranged.
"Dad, what are you talking about?"
Edgar couldn't understand what he was saying now.
He had obviously told him that he and Edwina were together, and he was saying that kind of thing to Elva.
"Edgar, this is the Boone Family put your temper away!" Baggott scolded in a low voice.
Edgar knew that her father was warning her not to speak out of turn, but if he didn't make it clear all the time, there was no way the union would be resolved. He spoke directly, "Elva, I think we need to renegotiate the marriage."
At these words, the smile on Elva's face instantly faded, "What do you mean?"
"Yes, what do you mean?" Elvaâ€TMs mother questioned out loud.
"Literally." Edgar replied unhurriedly.
Elva frowned, "Are you trying to break off the engagement?"
Edgar didn't answer straight away, only saying, "Elva, I don't really like you, and you won't be happy if we're forced to get married."
"But I like you!" Elva got a little emotional, "I like you so much, don't you feel anything at all?"
Edgar lowered his head, "I'm sorry."
Elva burst into tears, accusing him as she cried, "How can you spoil my heart like that? You've gone too far, too far crying!"
As she cried, the four elders all panicked, comforting and scolding.
"Elva, don't cry, nothing he says counts." Brimlad wiped Elva's tears and soothed her.
Baggott pulled Edgar to the side and scolded him sternly, "Do you have any idea what you're doing? Are you so intent on bringing the two families to a standstill?"
"Dad, it's better to have a long pain than a short one." Edgar looked at Elva, who was still crying, "She'll know sooner and be able to let it go sooner."
The longer things dragged on, the more damage it would do to Elva.
Baggott frowned, not agreeing with his words, "From now on, you don't say anything, I'll sort this out."
"But Dad..." Edgar wanted to say that he would leave it to him to sort it out, so he could stop saying things that made Elva misunderstand.
Baggott slapped him on the shoulder and gestured for him to stop saying it.
Then he walked over to Elva's parents and said, "I think we really should renegotiate the union and leave the two boys alone to talk."
Elva's parents looked at each other and nodded in agreement.
Both parents walked out, and as they passed Edgar, Baggott stopped and whispered, "Remember what to say and what not to say, and think about the Khan Group before you do anything, even if you don't want to marry, don't offend the Boone Family."
Edgar sulked and didn't say anything.
Baggott patted him on the shoulder, "I know you're a smart boy."
With that, he walked out.
The door was gently closed.
The room fell silent, only Elva's soft sobbing could be heard.
Edgar sighed and walked over to her, "Don't cry."
At the sound, Elva raised her head and looked at him with teary eyes, "Is there something wrong with me that you don't like me?" "You're fine."
His answer made Elva laugh out loud, a hint of sarcasm in her smile, "If I was really nice, there's no way you wouldn't like me!" Edgar was silent.
Elva suddenly thought of something, raised her hand to wipe away her tears and said, "You like Edwina."
A declarative sentence, not a question.
Edgar slowly clenched his hands at his side and remained silent.
Elva took him for granted and sneered, "What's so great about that woman? She's a single mother, don't you think she's not good enough for you?" "She..."
Edgar was just about to speak when the door to the room was pushed in from outside.
It was Edwards.
He looked into the room at Edgar and Elva and smiled apologetically, "Sorry to bother you."
Elva looked at Edgar and asked, "What do you want, brother?"
"I want to talk to Edgar."
"Me?" Edgar was a little taken aback.
He didn't know Edwards well enough to have anything to talk about.
Edwards nodded, "Well, you."
"I'm going out then."
Speaking to Elva, Edgar walked out.
The door closes again.
Elva froze for a long moment, lifted the covers off the bed and walked barefoot towards the door.
...
Edwards led Edgar to the study.
After closing the door behind him, Edwards smiled, "You must be wondering in your mind why I'm looking for you, after all, we don't know each other very well." Edgar smiled, "I do indeed. So, what's on your mind?"
"Well ..." Edwards thought hard, "I actually wanted to talk to you about Edwina."
"Edwina?" said Edgar, staggered, "What do you want to talk about?"
He remembered that Edwards had taken Edwina to meet Elva's parents at the last anniversary dinner, and had even said that Edwina was the woman he liked. Could he really like Edwina?
At the thought of this possibility, Edgar couldn't help but be alert.
"I know you and Edwina have been together." Edwards said.
Edgar's brow furrowed slightly, "She told you that?"
"Hmm." Edwards nodded.
"You like her too?" Edgar asked.
Seeing his alarm, Edwards lost his smile, "Don't worry, my fondness for Edwina is just a habit of a brother for his sister, not mixed with male or female feelings." Despite what he said, Edgar's nerves didn't relax and he asked again, "What exactly do you want to talk about?"
Edwards was silent for a few seconds before he said, "Elva."
Edgar understood, "You're here to persuade me too?"
"That's not really true. I just want you to settle the matter of the union of the two families in a gentle way."
At that, Edgar smiled, "What's a gentle solution? Dragging it out?"
