Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1265: Absolutely not allowed
Smiling, Edgar laughed, "What is a gentle way? Dragging it out?"
"Not really. You can talk to Elva at a suitable opportunity, but definitely not today." Edwards said.
He was worried that with Elva's current state of health, she would definitely not be able to handle it once she knew that Edgar and Edwina were together.
Edgar nodded, "Fine. But can you tell me which day would be appropriate?"
As far as Edgar was concerned, Edwards was just trying to stall for time.
After all, Elva was his sister and he would definitely help his sister.
Edwards saw what he was thinking, laughed softly and said, "I don't know about that, you'll have to pick it yourself."
"Good. If there's nothing else, I'll be off."
Edgar nodded at him and turned to go out.
Outside the study, Elva pressed her ear to the door, listening carefully to the conversation, and when she heard Edgar say he was leaving, she hurriedly turned and ran back to her room. Edgar opens the door, walks out of the study and heads straight for the stairs.
Behind him, Elva poked her head out of her room and watched his back, her hand on the door frame slowly squeezing tighter, her face grim.
I didn't think he would really be with that bitch Edwina.
The thought of Edwina made Elva grit her teeth, her facial expression even twisting a little.
That bitch must have seduced Edgar, otherwise how could Edgar have liked her.
She would never allow anyone to steal Edgar away from her.
Edgar came downstairs and went straight to both parents who were talking.
"Dad, Mum, it's time to go back."
Elva's father's eyebrows locked up when he heard this, "Why don't you spend more time with Elva?"
"Elva isn't feeling well, I told her to rest early."
Edgar said casually, Elva's father and the others didn't doubt it and nodded their heads, "Yes, you should rest early."
"Uncle, aunty, I have some work to take care of. I'll visit you some other time."
"It's time for you to put your career first." Elva's father smiled appreciatively.
Elva's parents' attitudes were finally softened by BaggottBrimlad's reassurances.
Elva's mother gave Elva's father a disgruntled look, "What do you mean by putting your career first? He should have started a family at his age, only when his family is stable can his career be stable." Edgar acted as if he didn't understand the meaning of Elva's mother's words, Edwina gave a smile, "Auntie and uncle, we're leaving."
Following that, he turned his head to his parents, "Dad, Mum, let's go."
Baggott and Brimlad looked at each other, knowing in their hearts how anxious their son was to leave, and not being able to accuse him too much in front of Elva's parents, they had to get up and leave. On the way back, Brimlad couldn't resist saying, "Edgar, try to accept Elva, maybe you'll replace she's really nice."
"Mum, you can't force a relationship." Edgar looked back at his mother in the back seat.
"I know you can't force it, that's why I used the word 'try'."
At that, Brimlad sighed, "It was both heartbreaking and guilt-inducing to see Elva like that."
"Elva will be healthy again after a few days rest." Baggott put his arm around her shoulders, reassuringly.
"What about the wound in the heart?" Brimlad looked over at Edgar, who was driving seriously, and accused him in an unpleasant manner, "It's not your good son, he doesn't know how to care for a girl." Hearing this, Edgar could not help but feel helpless, "Mum, I told you a long time ago that I did not like her, but it was you who insisted on the marriage between the two families. You are all responsible for the current situation." "What? Are you blaming me and your father now?" Brimlad asked disgruntled.
"I don't." Edgar denied.
"Well, cut the crap, all of you." Baggott intervened, "Edgar, remember the weight on your shoulders and don't do things too carelessly."
Edgar nodded, "I know, Dad."
The car quieted down and the car drove smoothly down the road at night.
...
Weekend.
The mall was more crowded than usual, and with it, the restaurant was doing much better. Edwina worked from noon until after three in the afternoon before she had time to eat lunch.
She sat in the corner of the kitchen with her lunchbox and ate slowly, one bite at a time.
"Why are you eating here?" Alger asked in wonder as he came over.
"Is it bad here?" Edwina looked up at her, then lowered her head again to take a bite of her meal.
"It's not bad, I just feel a bit lonely." Alger sat down next to her and looked at the rice in her lunchbox, "Did you make it yourself?" Edwina gave a soft "yes".
"Why don't you eat from the restaurant?" Alger asked again.
"I'm on a diet, so I'm eating something light."
At that, Alger's eyes widened in surprise, "You're so skinny, and you're still on a diet? Is there any sense in that?"
Compared to the thin Edwina, Alger looked much rounder.
She was surprised to hear Edwina say she wanted to lose weight.
"I just thought it might look better if I was thinner." Edwina spoke more and more in a whisper.
Alger smelt something unusual and squeezed his eyebrows ambiguously, "Tell me honestly, are you seeing someone?"
Edwina lowered her eyes in embarrassment, thinking of what to say to her.
Seeing this, Alger's eyes widened again, "Edwina, you're too much, you didn't even tell me."
"Keep your voice down." Edwina saw the others looking over and gave her a no-nonsense glare.
Alger spat out her tongue and gossiped, "Hey," she laughed twice, "Tell me honestly, who is it? What does she look like? What does he do for a living? Does he treat you well? He ..."
In the face of Alger's questions, Edwina was scared and raised her hand to stop her, "Enough, don't ask so many questions."
"I'm concerned about you!" Alger glared at her in feigned displeasure.
Edwina lost her smile, "I know you care about me. But how am I supposed to answer you when you're asking so many questions in one breath?"
Alger thought better of it and picked the most important question, "Then you have to tell him who he is."
"You know."
Alger was amazed, "I know."
Wait a minute!
She did know a few of the men around Edwina.
Could it be one of them?
"Is it Thomas?" asked Alger tentatively.
Edwina shook her head.
"No?" Alger frowned, then her eyes widened as she thought of something, "It can't be Edgar, can it?"
At the word 'Edgar', Edwina's cheeks flushed.
But Alger couldn't believe it, "Edwina, are you joking?"
"Why would I be joking?" Edwina looked up at her, bewildered.
"Aren't the Khan family and the Boone family joined in marriage? Then Edgar is Elva's fiancé, how can you ..." Alger couldn't believe for a second that she would be the one to break up someone's relationship. Edwina laughed helplessly, "You misunderstand. The union, Edgar didn't agree to it, it was just arranged by the family and he has promised that I will sort it out."
