Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1266: He will definitely marry me
"Work it out? What does that mean?" Alger didn't understand.
"It means he won't marry Elva."
Alger thought about it, but it still didn't feel right, "So you believe him?"
"Hmm."
"Are you stupid? What if he's just coaxing you, then you're really a mistress who's ruining people's relationships!" Mistress?
Edwina frowned and denied, "I'm not a mistress, we really like each other."
Alger couldn't help but roll his eyes, "Of course you're not a mistress. I mean, as long as the union is unresolved, you'll look like a mistress to outsiders." Edwina frowned more and more.
She hadn't thought about it so much since she and Edgar had established their relationship, because she was sure Edgar would soon have things sorted out. But now that Alger had said that, she realised that things seemed a bit troubled.
Seeing her face turn grave, Alger patted her shoulder, "You'd better let Edgar sort things out early, or I'm afraid you'll really get into trouble."
Trouble was still the least of it; what was feared most was being scolded by the public.
In this society nowadays, mistresses were scorned.
She wasn't a mistress, so why should she be scolded for nothing?
Edwina was in no mood to eat. She closed her lunchbox and looked thoughtfully ahead.
Alger was right, the marriage had to be settled soon, otherwise her and Edgar's relationship would not be blessed.
But... how was she going to tell Edgar?
...
Sometimes, the more you worry about something, the more it happens.
That evening, the shop was filling up with customers and Edwina started another round of busy work.
She stood at the door to greet the customers, and when she saw Elva enter, her heart thumped.
A bad feeling came over her.
As soon as Elva saw her, she rushed up and slapped Edwina twice with her hand.
Slap!
The sound of the slap rang out!
The guests and other waiters looked over.
Edwina was stunned before the words "Welcome" could be uttered.
Her head was tilted, her head was blank and all she could feel was the burning pain on her cheek.
Elva had slapped her cheek twice with almost all her strength, and Edwina's cheek quickly became red and swollen, the slap marks clearly visible.
She pointed at Edwina's nose and cursed loudly, "Bitch, let you seduce my fiancé, I'm going to show everyone how cheap you are today!"
With this scolding, those present instantly understood what was going on.
The original spouse and the mistress.
Their gazes at Edwina were filled with contempt and disdain.
"She looks pretty, but I never thought she would be so shameless."
"Why are there so many mistresses these days? You don't learn at a young age, but you go and become a mistress."
...
When she heard the chatter, Edwina was at a loss for words and immediately explained, "No, it's not what you think. I'm not a mistress!" "Yes, Edwina is not a mistress!"
As soon as the manager and Alger heard the commotion, they rushed out and ran to Edwina's side.
"What's going on here?" The manager frowned at the sight of Edwina's red and swollen cheek.
"I'm sorry, manager." Edwina lowered her head apologetically.
Because of her personal matters, it had affected the normal business of the restaurant.
"You're the manager, aren't you." Elva looked at the manager and snorted coldly, "Just this kind of morally corrupt person, you dare to use in your restaurant?" "This young lady, until there is any proof that Edwina is the mistress, please watch your words!"
The manager was clearly defensive and Elva laughed in anger, "No proof? Are you kidding me? I'm a living, breathing human being standing here and that's not proof?"
The manager frowned and turned his head to Edwina with a hint of questioning in his gaze.
It wasn't that he didn't trust Edwina's character, but he was afraid that there was a misunderstanding and he had to ask for clarification.
"Manager, I didn't break her relationship and I'm not a mistress, please believe me."
Hearing Edwina's words, Elva shouted shrilly, "Don't you dare say you weren't with Edgar?"
Edwina squeezed her palms together, then released them and looked up at her with a frank gaze, "Yes, I was with Edgar. He also said that he doesn't like you and won't marry you!"
That hit Elva right in the gut, and her emotions flared up as she shouted, "You're lying! There's no way Edgar doesn't like me, he came to my house yesterday to see me, he cares about me, he'll marry me." Yesterday?
Edwina's brow furrowed slightly, how could she not know that Edgar had been to the Boone Family yesterday?
Maybe he had to go to the Boone Family for other reasons.
But she was still more than a little uncomfortable inside.
"I'm telling you, Edwina, you and Edgar are impossible! You're dreaming if you're a single mum with a dragging bottle and you want to climb up to the Khan family!"
Edwina's face turned a little ugly.
Because the second half of Elva's sentence was right.
She and Edgar were so different in status that she could not afford to climb up the ladder.
Alger couldn't listen any longer, "To dream or not to dream, I don't know. But shouldn't you go to Edgar and ask for clarification? What's the point of coming here to make things difficult for Edwina?" At that, Alger snorted, "The persimmon picks the soft one, doesn't it?"
"Yeah," she deliberately added to her tone.
Elva snorted, "Why should I ask Edgar when it's obvious she seduced him?"
"Which one of your eyes saw her seduce Edgar?" Alger questioned sternly!
Elva was left speechless.
She stared at Edwina with hatred. She had seduced her first, but now it was her fault?
The more she thought about it, the more upset she became!
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the red wine on a tray carried by a waiter not far away.
She turned around and quickly walked over to the waiter and took the red wine into her hand, knocking it hard against the corner of the table.
The bottle shattered and the red wine flowed all over the floor.
Seeing this, the manager subconsciously stepped in front of Edwina.
"Edwina, I definitely won't let you get away with it today!" Elva walked over with the broken wine bottle, her face with delicate make-up was full of ruthlessness. "What do you want?" The manager stared at her with a serious expression.
"Get out of my way, this is between her and me, none of your business!" Elva stared at Edwina behind them with a deadly stare.
Edwina, worried about hurting innocent people, stepped out and took a deep breath, "Miss. Elva, do you know what you're doing? Don't be impulsive!"
"Shut up!" Elva bellowed, a sneer on her face, "Now you're telling me not to be impulsive, so give me back Edgar!"
Edwina frowned and fell silent.
When she didn't say anything, Elva shouted again, "Give me back Edgar!"
What happened next was a scene that no one had time to react to.
All they saw was Elva raising the broken bottle and rushing up at Edwina.
