Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1269: Taking care of you for life
"Have you eaten dinner yet? If not, I'll cook something for you to eat." Edwina said.
Edgar nodded, "Good."
"Then you wait a while. If you're bored turn on the TV and watch."
Edwina said as she headed for the kitchen, during which she took off her jacket and casually threw it on the couch. "Wait!"
Edgar suddenly spoke up, walking towards her nervously, grabbing her hand and looking at the striking gauze, "What's wrong?" Edwina pulled her hand back and smiled, "I just burned it accidentally at work."
"How could you be so careless?" Edgar was distressed.
"You don't have to worry, it'll be fine in a few days."
Edwina was afraid he would continue to ask questions and hurriedly interrupted, "Go and sit in the living room while I prepare dinner."
"How are you going to prepare dinner when your hand is injured?" Edgar pulled her to the sofa and sat down, his eyes looking straight into hers, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, "I'll prepare dinner." "You?" Edwina gave him a suspicious look, "You can cook?"
"Of course."
Edgar smiled and turned towards the kitchen.
Edwina turned around and watched his tall figure walk into the kitchen, a sweet smile spreading across her lips.
Around eight o'clock, Bonnie came back from her cram school.
He was so happy to see that Edgar was there that his eyes lit up and he called out crisply, "Uncle Edgar!"
"Go wash your hands, it'll be ready for dinner soon." Edgar's tone was as natural as if they were family.
Bonnie nodded cheerfully, "Okay."
As she watched Bonnie run to wash her hands, Edwina smiled and said to Edgar, "Bonnie loves you so much, she must be very happy right now."
"Is she?" Edgar glanced up at her and smiled, "It would be my pleasure."
After nearly an hour, Edgar had prepared the food.
Scrambled eggs with tomatoes, braised fish, heart of cabbage, and a simple pot of egg soup with purple cabbage.
"Uncle Edgar, you can cook!" Bonnie looked at the full range of dishes on the table, and there was a hint of admiration on her young face, in addition to surprise.
"I can still cook the simple dishes, but not the complicated ones."
"It all looks so delicious." Edwina picked up her chopsticks, put a piece of fish in her mouth and immediately praised, "It's really delicious."
"Really?" Edgar thought she was saying that to comfort herself.
"Of course it's true!" Edwina nodded her head heavily.
"Have some more if it's good."
Edgar placed the served rice in front of her and Bonnie respectively, "Come on, eat."
The three of them sat down to eat and Edgar put a piece of fish into Bonnie's bowl, "You're growing up, eat more."
Bonnie said, "Thank you, Uncle Edgar."
"You're welcome."
Edgar turned his gaze to Edwina, only to see her staring at him, her lips slightly puckered and looking slightly displeased, his sword eyebrows raised and he asked, "What's wrong?" "What about me?" Edwina asked.
Edgar didn't get her meaning and frowned slightly, "Hmm?"
Edwina indicated her bowl with a wink, "I'll have it too."
Edgar dawned on her and laughed out loud, teasing, "How do you compare yourself to a child?"
"Then you can think of me as a child." Edwina held the bowl out, like a cat waiting for a food drop, her face full of anticipation.
"Here." Edgar chucked a piece of fish into her bowl.
"Thanks."
Edwina ate it immediately and contentedly.
Edgar looked at her and smiled with a doting smile.
After finishing the meal, Edgar volunteered to wash the dishes, but Edwina stopped him, "I'll do it, you go watch TV with Bonnie."
"Your hand..." Edgar glanced at the gauze wrapped around her hand and his brow locked up.
Edwina turned her arm and smiled, "Look, it's not a problem at all, you don't have to worry."
With that, she pushed him into the living room and pinned him down on the sofa, "Sit here nicely and don't move."
Then, quickly, she returned to the kitchen and set about cleaning up and washing the dishes.
Edgar looked back at the busy figure in the kitchen and the corners of his mouth slowly rose.
A strange feeling came over him.
They were like a family, her as the wife busy in the kitchen and him in the living room with the children.
It was so warm and welcoming that it warmed the heart.
"Uncle Edgar."
He turned his head to meet Bonnie's bright, clean eyes and unconsciously lifted the corner of his mouth, "Yes?"
Bonnie stared at him for a moment, "Uncle Edgar, are you going to marry my mother?"
"Marry?" Edgar's brow furrowed lightly, "Why do you ask?"
"Because I want a dad."
This reason took Edgar a little by surprise and he lifted his hand to touch Bonnie's head and asked, "Why do you want a daddy?"
Bonnie lowered her head and sounded a little despondent, "Because all our classmates have a daddy, only I don't. Durwyn always laughs at me."
He put his arm around Bonnie's shoulders and softly reassured her, "Don't feel bad, if anyone makes fun of you again, just say you have a father too." Bonnie looked up, her eyes slightly confused.
Edgar smiled, "Just say I'm your daddy."
Bonnie's eyes, which had been a little dull, slowly brightened at the words, and he jumped off the couch, saying joyfully, "Yes! I've got a daddy, I've got a daddy." Looking at his happy face, Edgar laughed out loud, his handsome face full of doting.
Edwina, who heard the sound, came out of the kitchen with a curious look on her face, "What's so happy?"
Bonnie ran towards her, tilted her head to look at her and said in a slightly excited tone, "Mum, I have a dad."
"What?" Edwina frowned.
"Uncle Edgar says he's my daddy from now on." Bonnie said, pointing to Edgar in the living room.
Edwina had a moment of dismay and slowly looked up towards Edgar, disbelief written all over her clear little face. Edgar got up and walked over to her, taking in her expression and chuckling softly, "Why do you look dumb?"
Edwina looked back and her brow furrowed, "Edgar, do you know what you're saying?"
How could he just casually tell a child that he was the father?
Did he know that it meant a promise?
A promise she dared not hope for!
Edgar nodded, "I know."
He looked down at Bonnie and curled his lips in a smile, "In my heart, Bonnie is like my child, so I have no problem saying I'm his daddy." "No..." Edwina was anxious, she wanted him to stop saying such things so easily, in case they broke up one day, it would hurt Bonnie too. Seeing her mind, Edgar took her hand, intertwined his fingers and said in a deep voice, "I want to take care of you for the rest of my life."
