Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1272: Crookedness

Eloise slept through the morning and woke up just after one o'clock at noon.

She sat up and raised her hand to rub her somewhat sore temples before she lifted the covers and got out of bed. At that moment, the door opened and Brimlad came in.

Seeing that she was already up, he said gently, "I've made you some porridge, come down and eat."

Eloise smiled back, "Good."

The two of them went downstairs together.

Eloise sat down in the dining room and Brimlad put a bowl of porridge in front of her, "Eat it while it's hot."

Eloise was touched by the soft porridge in the bowl and the smell of chicken soup.

"Thank you for your hard work, Auntie."

"Silly child, why are you being polite to me?" Brimlad gave her a feigned, unpleasant glare, then said, "Eat up, or it will get cold." Eloise bowed her head and ate slowly.

She ate two bowls of porridge in one sitting, probably because she was really hungry, and her stomach warmed up and she felt much more refreshed. When she had finished eating, she went to sit in the living room and Brimlad brought a plate of fruit to the table.

"Have some fruit."

Eloise was a little helpless at once, rubbing her stomach and laughing, "Auntie, I've only just eaten, my stomach won't hold any more fruit." Brimlad froze, then responded, "Then eat later."

The air was quiet and Brimlad looked at Eloise, hesitating for a moment before speaking carefully and asking, "Eloise, what are you going to do now?" Eloise looked at her and smiled to herself, "I'm in a mess, what can I do?"

"Yeah, what's to be done?" Brimlad thought for a moment and suddenly his eyes lit up, "Right, I know what to do?"

EloiseEdwina frowned, "What did you think of, Auntie?"

"I'll take you to Earlene," Brimlad said.

At that, Eloise asked rhetorically, "Little Aunt, that's the solution?"

"Yeah." Brimlad nodded.

Eloise shook her head and laughed, "Little Aunt, you're thinking too easy, we won't even see Earlene, we won't even get into the Bartram family." "Who said I was going to the Bartram family."

Eloise froze, "No, then where to?"

"I heard she's been trying on wedding dresses lately, maybe we could just go to the bridal shop." Brimlad suggested.

"And then what?"

"Then I'll persuade her ah to give Hector back to you."

Eloise looked at Brimlad, who had a serious face, and suddenly felt that although she was older than she was, she seemed a lot more naive than she was. "What do you think?" Brimlad asked.

Eloise couldn't bring herself to brush her off, so she nodded, "It's quite good."

"Let's go then."

Brimlad got up and walked over to pull her along.

Eloise tilted her head to look at her, "Now?"

"No surprises, Earlene and Hector are at the bridal shop right now."

Eloise frowned, "Really?"

Even Hector is there?!

"Of course it's true, why would I lie to you?"

Brimlad pulled her to her feet and dragged her upstairs, saying as he walked, "Get dressed up, we mustn't lose to Earlene."

Eloise couldn't help but laugh at this somewhat childish remark.

However, she did as she was told and changed into a beautiful dress and put on some make-up.

Looking at herself in the mirror, Eloise slowly lifted the corners of her mouth and her eyes were very determined.

This time, she would make sure that Hector remembered her.

...

Ever since she had driven Elo away, Earlene had had a very uneasy feeling in her heart.

The first time she saw Elo, there was an inexplicable sense of familiarity, especially when Elo's eyes looked like someone in particular.

If she had known she had to get rid of the person at the beginning, there would not have been anything that happened later.

If her face wasn't different, she would have thought Elo was Eloise.

A different face?

Earlene suddenly thought of something, her pupils tightened and a hint of hesitation appeared on her face; it couldn't be, it shouldn't be possible. She had seen this kind of disguise on TV shows, but could it really happen in reality?

She was a little unsure.

But if Elo was really Eloise, then now that she'd been cast off, was that just the right amount of misrepresentation?

The more Earlene thought about it, the more alarmed she became that the wedding had to take place as soon as possible before the night was too long. With this in mind, she got up and went out of the room to replace Hector in the study.

Hector was sitting in his recliner with a book, staring down at the open pages, looking serious but not really reading a word of it.

All he could think about was what Elo had said last night.

His heart, too, ached in Edwina.

For a moment, he thought Elo was Eloise.

The woman who had told him, in tears, that she was his wife.

He closed the book, tilted his head, eyes closed, and murmured, "Elo, Eloise ..."

Earlene pushed open the door and walked in just in time to hear the name "Eloise" and stared in surprise at the man sitting in the recliner.

Did he ... have something in mind?

She squeezed her palms together and slowly moved closer, calling out in a whisper, "Hector."

The familiar voice sounded in his ears and Hector slowly opened his eyes to meet a pair of eyes full of concern, he hurriedly lowered his head, "What are you doing here?" She hadn't heard anything, had she?

"I wanted to ask you if you wanted to go to the bridal shop and try on your suit?" Earlene asked.

Hector's brow furrowed ever so slightly and he said back lightly, "Sure."

Earlene smiled, "Let's go then."

"In such a hurry?" Hector was a little startled.

"The wedding is at the end of the month, everything has to be quick."

Hector suddenly resisted a little, his lips moving to say if it could be postponed, but the words couldn't come out either way.

Because he could see that she was really looking forward to it.

He couldn't bear to break her heart.

"Okay, let's go." Hector stood up.

Earlene smiled and took his arm, and the two of them walked out of the study in harmony.

When they arrived at the bridal shop, the clerk took out the dress Earlene had picked out earlier, "Miss Earlene, this dress has been altered by the designer, will you try it on again to see if it fits?" "Yes." Earlene turned to Hector and said, "I'm going to try on the dress first, wait outside. I'll walk you through the suit later."

Hector nodded, "Hmm."

The shop assistant led Hector to the lounge area of the shop.

"Thanks."

After thanking the clerk, Hector sat down on the sofa and looked around the room before his eyes finally fell on a wedding photo not far away.

The man and woman in the photo were both smiling happily.

I don't know if it was a model photo or a real couple.

But it looked like both people were smiling from the bottom of their hearts.

He couldn't help but soften his gaze, wondering if he and his former wife had ever had their wedding pictures taken and if they were smiling so happily too. "Hector."

A careful and slightly excited voice rang in his ears.

Something was familiar.

Hector turned his head and a familiar face fell into his eyes.
