Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1284: Will always be by your side
Edgar's heart was hard and he wanted to push her away.
But the sobs coming from his arms gripped his heart one after the other, flooding him with pain even as he breathed.
He finally relented and held the woman in his arms tightly, as if he wanted to embed her in his body.
"I don't want to break up!" Edwina said hoarsely.
Edgar buried his head into the nape of her neck, his voice deep and dry, "You'll get hurt if you stay with me ..."
Before the words could be finished, Edwina interrupted, "I'm not afraid, as long as I have you by my side, I'm not afraid of anything." "Fool." Edgar's heart was a soft mess.
If she wasn't afraid, what was there to fear from a big man like him?
In the night, they held each other tightly, inseparable as if they were one.
Bonnie waited a long time for his Uncle Edgar to arrive.
The moment the door opened, he immediately ran over to see Edgar enter and called out excitedly, "Uncle Edgar."
Bonnie's fondness for Edgar was unapologetic and showed on his face every time.
Edgar stepped forward, pinched his cheek and asked with a smile, "Did you finish your homework?"
"It was done a long time ago."
"Awesome." Edgar rubbed his little head lovingly.
"Don't stand here, go inside."
Edwina's voice was muffled from all the crying.
Bonnie could hear something was wrong as soon as she heard it and looked over at her to replace her eyes red and her tiny eyebrows furrowed, "Mummy, are you crying?" Edwina smiled and shook her head, "No, I'm not crying, the wind blew sand into my eyes."
"Oh." Bonnie believed it and didn't ask any more questions.
He took Edgar's hand and walked inside, saying as he did so, "Mum prepared the sweet and sour prawns that you love. She read the recipe and made it."
At that, Edgar looked up at Edwina.
The two eyes met.
Edwina shyly averted her eyes, "I don't know how to make it, so if it's not good, you can't dislike it."
Edgar's eyes deepened for a few moments and he said in a deep voice, "As long as it's made by you, I like it."
Hearing these words made Edwina's heart sweet.
She walked quickly to the kitchen, reheated the dishes that had cooled down, and brought them to the table.
Bonnie had already pulled Edgar down, folded her hands on the table and waited for the meal to start.
Three dishes and one soup.
It was ordinary, home-cooked food, but the aroma in the air and the light cast overhead made everything so warm and wonderful. "All hungry, hurry up and eat."
Edwina placed the served rice in front of them one by one.
Then she sat down opposite Edgar and looked at him expectantly.
Edgar understood what she meant, picked up his chopsticks and put a shrimp into his mouth.
Mmm... a little sweet.
But he still smiled and said, "It's delicious."
Edwina's eyes lit up, "Really?"
"Mom, it's really delicious." Bonnie affirmed as well.
Edwina ate a shrimp herself and stared in surprise, "It's really delicious."
She was worried that she might not do it right the first time, but now she could finally rest assured.
The three dishes plus one soup were almost all eaten by Edgar and Bonnie.
Edwina's heart was filled with happiness as she watched the plates reach the bottom one by one.
Watching her loved ones eat the food she had cooked with her own hands was so happy and satisfying. When she finished eating, Edwina was ready to put away her plate, but Edgar held her hand down. Raising her eyes, she met his dark eyes.
"I'll wash it." He said.
Edwina opened her mouth to refuse, but heard him say, "You cook, I wash the dishes, it's only right."
He said so, so Edwina let him go.
Edgar neatly put away the dishes and took them to the kitchen.
Edwina turned around and her gentle gaze fell on him.
The kitchen looks a little cramped because of his tall figure.
The sound of water rang in her ears and she subconsciously stepped closer, his bony, long, thin fingers were particularly beautiful under the water. Edgar turned his head to look at her, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, "Go watch TV, I'll come over later after I've washed." "No, I want to stay with you."
There was a hint of little girl pouting in her voice.
The smile on Edgar's lips deepened and he raised an eyebrow, "Can I take that to mean you can't bear to part with me?"
When he asked this question, Edwina remembered that he had just mentioned breaking up with her, so she grimaced and said, "Who can't let you go?" Then she turned around and walked away.
Was she angry?
Edgar stopped, turned his head and watched her walk to the living room and sat down, the corners of his mouth curled up.
Finishing the dishes, Edgar came into the living room.
Bonnie immediately pulled him down, "Uncle, sit down."
"Thanks." Edgar's gaze went to Edwina on Bonnie's other side.
Edwina didn't seem to notice him coming, staring straight at the television with a slightly indifferent look.
Edgar lost his smile as he looked down and whispered something in Bonnie's ear, who stood up with a scuffle, "I'll go to my room and read, I won't disturb you."
Edwina thought she had heard wrong and turned her head, watching incredulously as Bonnie ran into the room.
Then, without looking into Edgar's smiling eyes, Edwina froze and turned her face away from him, facing him with the back of her head.
Edgar moved closer to her and asked in a soft voice, "Angry?"
Edwina still didn't say a word.
"Because of the break-up?" he asked again.
There was still no response.
He could only sigh and said slowly, "Do you know how scared I was when I saw that video? Scared that if I hadn't dodged it then, that bottle would have stuck in your chest." Every time he thought about it, he still couldn't help but feel a pang of fear.
His voice Edwina trembled with genuine fear.
Edwina couldn't help but be moved, she turned her head, "So you just want to break up with me?"
Edgar laughed softly, "I thought that once we broke up, Elva would stop targeting you and you'd live your old peaceful life."
"And did you ask me what I meant?" Edwina asked.
Looking into her clear eyes, Edgar said "I'm sorry" softly.
"I don't want to be sorry." Edwina shook her head, "I just want to be with you, no matter how hard it is, I want to keep going."
Her insistence made Edgar feel guilty.
He had really been selfish.
Thinking that breaking up was protecting her, he didn't know that he was hurting her in another way.
"Not anymore." Edgar took her into his arms and promised her softly in her ear, "I won't talk about breaking up again, I'll always be there for you."
Edwina curled her mouth slowly, "You'll do what you say."
Edgar pushed her away and dropped his eyes.
Four eyes met.
The low voice that belonged to him rang in his ears, "Edwina, I will spend the rest of my life loving you."
Edwina smiled, her eyes misting with a thin layer of water.
Edgar lowered his head and kissed her on the lips.
It was extremely lingering.
