Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1436: Do You Know Blythe?
During the days on the island, watching the two little ones run around each day, with their laughter surrounding her ears, Paulina's mood gradually relaxed. Sleep returned to normal.
Every afternoon, Marcos would take Esteban and Sweety fishing at the beach and then return to the villa in the evening.
The days were quiet, nothing new, but they were satisfying for Paulina.
She loved those uneventful days.
If she could, she would like the family to live on this island for the rest of their lives, to live isolated from the world.
But she knew it was impossible.
After a week, Paulina felt she had recovered enough and offered to return to J-town.
"Not for more days?" asked Marcos.
Paulina smiled and shook her head, "No, I'm fine now. And the company needs you."
"If you want to go back for the company, it's not necessary. The company has Alvaro."
Paulina pursed her lips and said, "Bonita is pregnant and definitely wants her husband to spend more time with her. We can't be so selfish as to leave the whole company to Alvaro." Marcos raised an eyebrow, "Alvaro would be especially happy if he knew you thought so much of him."
"So, let's come back tomorrow, shall we?"..
She insisted, and Marcos relented.
"Yes, we'll come back tomorrow."
The next morning, the four Marcoses left the island in their yacht.
Paulina looked at the island, which was getting farther and farther away, and was sad to see it go.
"We will return to the island when it is very quiet, and then Mom, Dad and Alvaro will come with them."
One can only imagine how lively the island will be then.
Paulina was looking forward to that day.
Marcos put his arm around her shoulders, "Yes."
When they got home, Mrs. Gloria was surprised to see them back, "Why didn't you stay longer, wasn't the island fun?"
"Mom, no. It was me who wanted to go back." Paulina explained.
"And how is your health?" Mrs. Gloria asked with concern.
Paulina smiled faintly, "Fine, it's fine."
Mrs. Gloria breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good."
Paulina and Mrs. Gloria chatted for a while and then went upstairs to rest.
Marcos, meanwhile, went to the office.
As soon as Alvaro heard he was coming to the office, he ran to replace him.
"Brother, why are you back so soon?" asked Alvaro, puzzled.
"Your sister-in-law was worried because you were working too much, so she finished her vacation early." said Marcos lightly as he shot him a look.
Alvaro was touched to hear him, "It's still my sister-in-law who knows how to take care of me. Not like the brother, who only knows how to squeeze me". "You can choose to quit if you don't feel happy with your job."
Although he knew Marcos was only joking with him, Alvaro was quick to make his determination clear, "Don't worry, brother, I'll do everything I can to help you."
Marcos tugged at the corners of his mouth in an awkward moment, "Thank you, for your effort."
Alvaro thought he had misheard and raised his hand to poke his ear, "Brother, are you thanking me?".
In a rare moment of ignoring him, Marcos turned the tables on him and asked, "Has anything happened in my absence these past few days?"
At the mention of business, Alvaro's expression immediately straightened, "Yes."
Marcos' brow furrowed, "Tell me about it."
"The JR Group has sent someone to talk about a partnership."
"Oh?" Marcos raised an eyebrow, "What kind of partnership?".
"The exact partnership was not said, but the other side made a strong statement that the JR Group had moved their focus to the country because they wanted to work with the Leoz Group. So..." "He declined the olive branch thrown by Rawlins."
This surprised Marcos, "A real rejection? Or a fake refusal, so that once we at the Leoz Group don't work with them, we immediately turn around and work with Rawlins?"
"That ... I don't know. Not that Alvaro hadn't thought so, but the other man's sincerity didn't seem like he was telling a lie.
Marcos read his mind and asked flippantly, "Do you want to work with JR?"
Alvaro was silent for a few seconds before slowly clarifying his thoughts, "The best thing would be for us to work together, of course. My sister-in-law used to say that it's better to have one more enemy than one more friend." At this, Marcos smiled, "Your sister-in-law's words are true, but they are too superficial; the JR Group has suddenly shifted its attention to the country and must have some kind of intention.
We would be in a very passive position if we agreed to work together before we knew what their intentions were."
Alvaro nodded, "I understand. I will convey your intentions to JR."
"But..." Alvaro hesitated before continuing, "Blythe invited you to dinner tonight, are you going?"
"No." Mark declined without thinking, "It's been a busy time and I want to spend more time with the kids and your sister-in-law."
Alvaro nodded in understanding, "Then I'll tell him no."
With that, he turned and prepared to leave.
At that moment, Marcos said, "You go get me."
"Huh?" Alvaro turned his head to look at him in surprise, "I'll go get you?".
"Good. Since they're interested in working with the Leoz Group, you can talk and sound out that Blythe, see if she's sincere enough."
"But brother, I also want to accompany Bonita," said Alvaro, who did not want to have dinner with Blythe.
That Blythe gave him too uncomfortable a feeling, and if he ate with her, he feared he would get indigestion if he did.
"It's business." Marcos said earnestly.
Alvaro, knowing he couldn't refuse, bristled, "Fine, I'll come get you."
"Come back and let me know if anything happens."
"Don't worry, bro, I'll be sure to get the job done."
Whether this Blythe was a man or a ghost, he was going to replace out all about the other man.
...
With all the commotion over Blythe's return, Rawlins had prepared a plan for cooperation long before she was officially back in the country.
As soon as Blythe returned home, he immediately sent someone to deliver the cooperation proposal to her.
He thought that when she read the proposal, she would be impressed and would not hesitate to work with him.
But she wasn't.
Blythe refused.
And he made it clear that he only wanted to work with the Leoz Group.
"Damn! Leoz Group again!" Rawlins was so angry that he slammed the returned proposal on the floor with a grim, frightened look.
If JR worked with the Leoz Group, it would be the end of the Bartram Group and several other companies.
He would never allow that to happen.
"Chris, your company has been overseas before, I'm sure you've dealt with JR, do you know Blythe?" Rawlins asked as he called Chris over and got straight to the point. "Blythe?" frowned Chris, "To be honest, I didn't know the president of the JR Group had such an honorable daughter."
"Could it be a fake identity?" asked Rawlins.
"How could it be fake?" Chris scoffed, "With all the commotion back home, if it were fake, JR would have debunked the rumors by now."
