Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 161: Deliberately making her misunderstand
Eloise Thompson looked at Hector Rogers' order with some bemusement, but didn't have the heart to say anything else, as the young master wasn't short of money anyway.
During the serving, Hector Rogers seemed to sense that something seemed to be on Eloise Thompson's mind since they had met until now, so he opened up and asked about work matters. "Is the project still going well?"
Hector Rogers had already heard from Layla Davidson that Eloise Thompson had taken on the project on an ad hoc basis and that the other side seemed to be difficult to deal with, so I don't know how it's going now. Eloise Thompson sighed and said, "The other side is obviously being difficult, they haven't seen the top yet, they had their assistant pick up the plans this afternoon, so I don't know what will happen." Talking about it makes Eloise Thompson's mood a little heavier.
Hector Rogers frowned slightly and spoke reassuringly, "Don't worry, something will come up."
"Hmm." Eloise Thompson nodded.
At this point, the waiter brought the food on, which Eloise Thompson had already eaten, but was still forced to eat quite a lot by Hector Rogers, on the grounds that the restaurant's food was very good. By the time dinner was over, Eloise Thompson was nearly bursting at the seams, and she couldn't help but glare a little sulkily at Hector Rogers, who was settling the bill.
After settling the bill, the two left the restaurant and Hector Rogers, knowing that Eloise Thompson was burnt out, was in no hurry to go back and accompanied her on a slow walk back to the hotel.
It was now after eleven o'clock and there were few pedestrians on the road, the light pulling at the shadows of the two men walking side by side.
For a moment, Eloise Thompson was in a trance, wishing for a moment that time would stop and the two would just keep going.
Hector Rogers was in the same mood, having been depressed for days after she left, and now he couldn't help but feel a little more comfortable looking at the young girl's face, and the corners of his mouth curled up in a plausible smile.
...
In contrast, at the hotel, Reeva Lawson was in her room with a grim look on her face.
It was almost twelve o'clock and Hector Rogers and Eloise Thompson had not returned. She clenched her fingers tightly, at this rate, she would lose completely.
All these years, she had lived like a princess in the Lawson family's care, always having everything she wanted and never losing, and now she had to lose to Eloise Thompson, to a woman as bad as that, how could Reeva Lawson be happy with that?
Besides, this was the man she had loved for over ten years, and no matter what, this man could only be hers.
Reeva Lawson's gaze flashed with determination; this time abroad, she was going to snatch back Hector Rogers for real.
Just as Reeva Lawson was thinking, there was movement at the door; it was twelve o'clock and Reeva Lawson's hand was almost trembling as she opened the door to her room.
She calmed down and stepped outside, Eloise Thompson was on the same floor as them, they had just stepped out of the lift when Reeva Lawson walked up and spoke, "You're finally back, I've been waiting for you for ages!"
There was a hint of ambiguity in her tone, and Eloise Thompson's eyes lowered, her emotions mixed for a moment.
Hector Rogers pursed his lips and spoke faintly, "You don't have to wait for me specifically, get an early night."
Reeva Lawson smiled, "How would that work, since I'm out here with you, it's only natural to look after you ..."
Halfway through the conversation, Reeva Lawson caught a whiff of alcohol and asked with concern, "Have you been drinking? Have you had too much to drink?"
As she spoke, Reeva Lawson also reached out to touch Hector Rogers' face, but was snapped by his wrist.
Realising that she seemed overly excited, Reeva Lawson spoke up, "I'm sorry, I was concerned for you."
Eloise Thompson stood still, taking in the scene, and they seemed as close to each other as if they normally got along.
For a moment, Eloise Thompson just felt that the two were perfect for each other and that she, herself, was just superfluous ...
Removing Reeva Lawson's hand, the first thing Hector Rogers did was to look at Eloise Thompson's reaction, fearing she might take it the wrong way.
Eloise Thompson spoke with downcast eyes, "You guys get some rest, I'll be back."
Having said that, she left and Hector Rogers tried to call out to her, but Eloise Thompson was already in the door.
Reeva Lawson stood her ground, a smirk of triumph flashing in her eyes, but outwardly began to speak up and ask, "Did Miss Eloise misunderstand something?" "What do I have to misunderstand with you, it's okay to rest early."
After finishing lightly, Hector Rogers turned and walked into his room.
Reeva Lawson looked at his back and said nothing more, but remembered Eloise Thompson's reaction earlier and couldn't help but feel happy.
She's all about letting Eloise Thompson know that she and Hector Rogers are the ones made for each other.
This is a man that only she, Miss Lawson Family, could be worthy of.
...
When she got back to her room, Linn Dail was still awake, having come up in a hurry when she got off the bus earlier, so she didn't know what had happened afterwards. Looking at Eloise Thompson, Linn Dail had an ambiguous look on her face.
"Eloise, what have you and Mr Egbert been doing behind my back? Why did you come back so late?"
"Huh?" Eloise Thompson looked at Linn Dail quizzically, her mind scrambled and she hadn't heard what she'd just said.
Eloise Thompson's eyes were downcast, the image of Hector Rogers and Reeva Lawson together still echoing in her mind. Are they sharing a room?
Linn Dail sighed breathlessly, is that what all women in this relationship are like?
She eventually didn't ask any more questions and collapsed into bed and fell asleep.
Eloise Thompson washed up and went to sleep in the next room, but her mind was in a tizzy, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, full of Hector Rogers and Reeva Lawson.
Eloise Thompson has been thinking wildly about what she will do when Hector Rogers and Reeva Lawson get married, and all sorts of questions come to mind, and Eloise Thompson thinks she must be going crazy. She tried to calm herself down, but her heart could not be stilled.
...
It was Linn Dail who came to wake Eloise Thompson up the following day and she looked at her and asked, "Eloise, did you not sleep well last night? You've got dark circles under your eyes and your face looks awful." Eloise Thompson rubbed her eyes and shook her head, "Nothing, just insomnia, come on, let's go for breakfast."
Linn Dail nodded and went downstairs with Eloise Thompson, but was surprised to meet Reeva Lawson and Hector Rogers in the hotel restaurant.
The two were also having breakfast, Reeva Lawson looking beautiful in a white dress with light make-up on her face and her hair pulled up high, moving with even more elegance in her manner and revealing a noble air all over. Hector Rogers, on the other hand, needs no introduction, a man who is, by all accounts, handsome and who is always the first to be noticed in a crowd, no matter what.
The two sat together as if they were made for each other and looked incomparably well matched.
