Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 162: Fever
Watching this scene in the dining room, for a moment, Eloise Thompson's eyes couldn't help but twinkle a little.
Reeva Lawson saw her too, smiled graciously and greeted her, "Miss Eloise, are you here for breakfast too? Want to join us?"
Hector Rogers turned to look at Eloise Thompson and was about to speak...
"No need." Eloise Thompson spoke up a little awkwardly and declined.
Having said that, he and Linn Dail found a seat on the other side of the room.
Hector Rogers frowned slightly at the figure not far away, it seemed he was right, Eloise Thompson was avoiding him, what was the reason for this?
Eloise Thompson felt Hector Rogers' gaze, but was afraid to meet it.
Linn Dail was a little excited, "Eloise, that's the president of the Rogers Group and the Lawson family, isn't it? I never thought we'd meet them in New York and they're staying in the same hotel as us, what a coincidence! By the way, Eloise, do you know them? Miss Reeva asked you to join her for breakfast?"
"I've had contact at work before, not very well." Eloise Thompson spoke lightly, lying without blushing.
Linn Dail then remembered that Eloise Thompson and Rogers Group had been involved in work before, and didn't think much of it, except to look at Hector Rogers' direction with some fancy eyes now and then.
Eloise Thompson ate her breakfast absentmindedly and, for some reason, couldn't bring herself to do so.
Linn Dail saw that she was depressed and asked, "Eloise, you've been up too late, you have to take care of yourself. Do you want to go to the doctor later?"
"No need." Eloise Thompson shook her head and spoke again, "I'll just go up later and take another break, you try to keep contacting the people over at SR."
Eloise Thompson's head is spinning again at the thought of work, and I wonder if the people at SR Group have seen their new proposal.
Linn Dail nods and halfway through breakfast her phone rings and Linn Dail gets up and goes outside to pick it up.
...
After Linn Dail left, Eloise Thompson's eyes unconsciously glanced over towards Hector Rogers and met the man's gaze. For a moment, Eloise Thompson averted her eyes in panic and continued eating her breakfast with her head down. Over here, Reeva Lawson watched the look on Hector Rogers' face and her grip on the cutlery clenched involuntarily.
Reeva Lawson was so angry that she was going to explode, but she had to put up with it.
...
Linn Dail finished her phone call and came in and spoke happily, "Eloise, good news good news!"
Eloise Thompson looked at Linn Dail's scowl with some confusion, "What's wrong?"
"It was the assistant of SR Group who called, he said that their CEO had read your proposal and asked us to discuss the project in detail, but not during the day, it was at 8pm in the ballroom on the fifth floor of the Hilton Hotel, Eloise, your efforts were not in vain, I told them that they would definitely agree to meet after reading your proposal."
At these words, a small smile flashed in Eloise Thompson's eyes.
"Is that so?"
"Yes, but the assistant said their president only gave me fifteen minutes, so it's up to us to make the most of it."
"Fifteen minutes is enough." Eloise Thompson smiled, not in a good mood.
"Well, Eloise is so capable, fifteen minutes is really enough, and we don't meet until eight in the evening, so you can take advantage of the daylight hours to rest and refresh yourself, and we'll be sure to take this project on in the evening." Eloise Thompson smiled and nodded, always in a slightly better mood because of the incident.
On his side, Hector Rogers, after breakfast, went to the branch to attend to his business, accompanied by Reeva Lawson.
Eloise Thompson and Linn Dail were about to leave the restaurant after breakfast, when they unconsciously looked at Hector Rogers' seat, which was already empty.
...
Eloise Thompson slept through the morning and at midday Linn Dail called her up.
"Eloise, you're looking worse and worse, I just saw you sleeping with a cold sweat on your forehead, you seem to have a fever?" Linn Dail spoke with some concern. Eloise Thompson just felt light-headed and she felt her forehead before she realised that some fever had set in a little.
"Can you still have a party at night like that? Do you want to go see a doctor?"
Linn Dail looked a little worried and Eloise Thompson shook her head, "It's nothing serious, don't bother, some medicine should do for the night."
The body did feel a bit sick, but Eloise Thompson didn't think it was anything serious, so a little medicine would probably do the trick.
Linn Dail had to nod at that and went off to replace medicine for Eloise Thompson.
After a brief bite to eat and taking her medication, Eloise Thompson went back to sleep.
As a result, by the end of the night, the fever had worsened and a delicate face looked even paler.
Eloise Thompson didn't think it would get any worse and should have gone to the doctor at lunchtime.
Linn Dail gave the temperature on Eloise Thompson's forehead a fright and spoke up straight away, "Eloise, you look like that, so why don't you just skip the party! I'll just go by myself." Eloise Thompson's mind was a little foggy and she shook her head at Linn Dail's comment.
"No, I can hold it together."
How could Eloise Thompson, the head of the SR Group, not go to the meeting when the president of the group had agreed to meet so easily and the planning was done by himself, wouldn't that seem insincere? Besides, Linn Dail didn't know much about the project and if she didn't go this time, it would be even harder to get an appointment next time.
Linn Dail knows that Eloise Thompson has always been work-focused, but she couldn't resist saying, "But your ... job is important, but your body is more important!"
Eloise Thompson took a sip of hot water, smiled and reassured Linn Dail, "It's only a two hour round trip, I'll be back as soon as I'm done talking, don't worry! Besides, I'll have you with me to look after me."
Linn Dail had no choice but to agree with Eloise Thompson, after all, her workaholic nature was not something she could stop herself from.
...
That evening, Eloise Thompson changed into a white evening gown, her face covered in simple make-up to hide her pale complexion.
As we sat in the car, Linn Dail spoke with some concern, "Eloise, if you don't feel well later, you must tell me first, if you can't hold on, let's go! Your body is the most important thing." Eloise Thompson smiled and nodded, "Got it, don't worry about it!"
Just then, the mobile phone in the bag rang, and it was Egbert Chumley calling.
