Chapter 371: An awkward response

It was late when Hector returned from the suburbs, and not wanting to go home and disturb Eloise, he went straight to the office and made do with a night's rest. The next morning, Eloise woke up to see Hector's mother with an anxious look on her face and, not knowing what had happened, she took the initiative to ask. "Auntie, what's wrong?"

Hector's mother looked at Eloise with a sad face and said, "It's Rupert, I heard he was injured again so I was going to go and check on him, he's such a big boy, he's so unpredictable." Eloise was shocked, how could Rupert be injured again?

The thought that Hector hadn't come back all night last night made her heart start to worry.

She helped Hector's mother get ready for the hospital and went with her.

When she arrived at the hospital, she saw that Rupert's leg was hanging high and his head was wrapped in gauze, Hector's mother went straight up and hit Rupert and asked, somewhat angrily, "What the hell happened?"

When Rupert saw that Hector's mother was angry, he struggled to sit up from the bed and hugged her in a hug, saying, "Mum, don't scold me if I tell you the truth, I was so happy after the cast was removed last night that I fell down the stairs and broke my leg."

Hector's mother was speechless and hit him again.

She looked around the house from the moment she entered, but saw no sign of Hector, and asked with some concern, "Rupert, where's your brother? Why haven't I seen him?"

Rupert didn't expect his mother to make a direct connection to his marrying a daughter-in-law and begged for mercy, fearing that she would say something else to provoke him.

Although Rupert told Eloise that Hector was fine, she was still very worried and just as she opened the door to call him, Hector came up to her.

Eloise pounced on him with worry and asked urgently, "Hector, are you all right? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Hector embraced the pampered woman and when he saw how worried she was, a warmth rose in his heart and he patted her on the back, saying, "I'm fine, I'm not hurt at all, you look healthy." Eloise looked around him, taking a good look at him, and was relieved to see that he was really fine, and walked in with him.

Marian followed behind Hector and saw the scene with a slight chill in his eyes.

Eloise, who had entered the ward, felt a cold gaze fall on her from behind and glanced back to see Marian looking at her with an unfriendly look in her eyes.

Eloise didn't think much of it when she saw it was her.

"Mum, since there's nothing wrong with Rupert, I'll go back to the office first."

"Then it's just as well I'm going back with you to get him some change of clothes." Hector's mother said as she got up after him.

Hector nodded and turned back to Marian, instructing, "Marian, you stay and look after Rupert, plus wait for orders at all times."

Marian nodded, Rupert was a sick man and could not be left unattended.

Marian was ordered to stay, and looked at Eloise with some reluctance.

Eloise didn't notice Marian's look, but left with Hector.

Aisly, who was outside the ward, saw Marian in the room and her eyes sank, now that she had no right to be at Rupert's side. After all, only a woman like Marian could be worthy of him, she was just a little nurse, so it was better to put her heart away. Aisly thought better of it and left, not going in.

Eloise didn't say a word the whole way, she knew something serious must have happened last night.

When she got back to the office, Eloise looked at Hector and asked seriously, "Hector, tell me honestly if something is wrong?" "Nothing really."

Hector avoided her eyes, not daring to look her in the eye.

One more person knowing about this would be one more worry, and he didn't want her to worry too.

Eloise could see that he wasn't telling the truth and sat down on his lap, forcing him to look into her eyes and saying in all seriousness, "Rupert, we are now an unmarried couple and your safety is my main concern, and you are the person I will be married to in the future, so I don't want you to hide it from me."

Eloise couldn't help but frown when she heard that, her whole heart hung in the air, she didn't expect something so dangerous to happen last night and she was still sleeping at home like nothing was wrong, but it was good that nothing serious happened to Rupert.

When Hector saw that she was silent, he put his arm around her and asked, "Scared?"

Eloise looked down and said, "Yes, I'm afraid something will happen to you. hector promise me okay, no matter what happens, make sure you're safe." Seeing the worry in her eyes, Hector nodded.

What more could a man want with a wife like that?

"Well, Eloise, aren't I all right now? I promise you I'll take care of myself, so don't worry about it. We'll go out again as a family this weekend if it's okay, okay?" Seeing that she was still unhappy, Hector rubbed at the nape of her neck.

Tickled by his touch, Eloise tried to escape but was gripped tightly by Hector's large hand, and after a moment of playfulness, they gazed at each other. Hector looked at the colour of her pink lips and couldn't resist kissing her, to which Eloise responded clumsily.

This time, Hector's kiss was a cheating one, as if he wanted to eat Eloise straight into his belly.

Hector saw this and picked her up by the waist, striding towards the lounge.
