Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 496: Who's going to buy me candy canes if you die?
Rupert mentioned the wedding and the crowd's attention was immediately drawn to it.
Eloise and Hector looked at each other, their fingers tightly intertwined, both with sweet smiles.
"Rupert has a point, there really is a lot to do to prepare for the wedding!" Mrs Matriarch stepped aside, her eyes lighting up and clapping her hands with gusto.
She turned to her son and asked, "By the way, Hector, how are you getting on with the guest list for the banquet?"
Hector nodded slightly, his thin lips slightly open, "I'm still working on it, so when I'm done, you can look it over again and see if there's anything missing from the side of the family." At these words, he looked at Eloise, his eyes full of frilly stars.
This wedding, as it was to be, was to be a grand affair.
The Rogers family does not have many people on its own side, but the extended side family has a large population.
Hector's intention was to invite the entire Rogers family of several hundred people to the wedding day.
He will tell them that Eloise will be the future matriarch of the Rogers family!
Mrs Matriarch nodded and said, "Well, we'll have to book a bigger venue for the wedding, we have a lot of family. Plus you'll each have to invite friends, so there'll be a lot of guests." Mrs Matriarch couldn't help but smile benevolently when she thought of the hilarious scenes on her wedding day.
She really didn't expect that her eldest son would soon replace a husband and enter into marriage.
Previously, because of Hector's cold and eccentric nature, no woman had ever dared to linger around.
With the presence of Solomon, the celebrities were even more upset.
So she was always worried that her eldest son would end up alone.
However, Eloise came along and gave her a glimmer of hope.
Rupert, nibbling on a large apple, interjected vaguely, "Mum, you don't have to worry about the venue, you don't have to worry about my brother." Mrs Matriarch nodded approvingly at her words.
Rupert looked at Eloise and suddenly asked a curious question.
"By the way, sister-in-law, which relatives and friends have you invited? I'll help with the headcount."
The words were out of his mouth and before he knew what was wrong, Hector's icy eye slashes swished over.
The look in his eyes was a clear indication of which pot he was not in.
Eloise didn't really care, she gave Hector a squeeze to show him it was okay.
I don't have any close friends, so I won't invite them. I don't know much about weddings, so it's up to Mum."
She answered questions about her friends in four different ways, avoiding family.
Rupert sniffed and instantly understood what he had done.
Rubbing his chin in embarrassment, he looks down in chagrin and introspection.
Between these questions and answers, the atmosphere got a little awkward, with everyone looking at Eloise's face.
The eyes are full of heartache.
How much sadness is hidden beneath this girl's gentle smile?
Solomon, who had been nibbling on an apple next to Rupert, heard Eloise's words, spilled the apple from his hand and trotted over. Wrapping his arms around Eloise's neck, he barks at her face.
"Solomon likes Mummy best, Mummy is not sad."
Eloise smiled and stroked his little head, "Mummy's not sad, I've got you all now."
She had been through some very sad things before, but she was really happy now.
With a handsome husband and a sweet and loving Solomon, what's not to love about having a family to love?
Hector looked at the mother and son and also re-curled his lips.
Mrs Matriarch was the first to pick up the story, nodding in agreement, "Eloise is right, you have enough of us."
She turned the tablet on and showed Eloise a few of the sample images she had selected last night.
"Eloise, come and have a look, here's the wedding dress and jewellery, Mum searched several places last night, see which style you like." The crowd came up in pieces to watch.
Rupert saw that the mood had eased back and boldly went over.
Nodding his head as he looks on, he looks thoughtful.
Pointing to one of the very ornate sets, he said, "This is nice, luxurious and noble, very prestigious, let's have it!"
However, Mrs Matriarch ignored his words and just looked at Eloise with a smile and said, "Which one does Eloise think is better?"
Eloise bit her lip and asked Hector for help in a bit of a tangle, "What do you think?"
Rupert saw that he was being completely ignored and immediately made his presence felt.
He patted Hector's shoulder, raised his eyebrows upwards and said in a gangly manner, "If you ask me, you have to pick the best and the most expensive and luxurious one of course. It's a rare occasion for my brother to get married, so it has to be the best!"
The flirtatiousness of the words is quite obvious.
A blush tickled her fair face as Eloise heard about the wedding and lowered her brow in embarrassment.
Rupert looked at his doppelganger brother, his narrow eyes narrowed.
He said coolly, "I see you're getting bolder and bolder these days, do you believe I'll really make you a son-in-law? The kind you pack up and send away?"
A hint of menace overlayed the cold voice.
Rupert swallowed and replied stiffly, "That can't be, my mother wouldn't want to part with me, would she?"
He looked bashfully at Mrs Matriarch.
Mrs Matriarch nodded, "Right."
Rupert was in a flash of laughter and dejectedly crossed his arms.
"See, it's Mom who loves me the most."
But then Mrs Matriarch turned back and added: "Your brother is right, it's good for you to be a son-in-law, so you don't have to get into trouble all the time, right?" He said this without forgetting to poke his old partner.
Mr Fletcher flipped through the newspaper he had in hand and nodded in agreement with his daughter-in-law.
One second Rupert was picking on Hector, the next he was in the wind, frozen in place and slapped in the face.
Eloise couldn't hold it in and fell back into Hector's arms, laughing out loud.
"Now you know your place?" Hector raised an eyebrow.
"You guys, you've gone too far!"
Rupert was roundly disliked and felt like he had been hit with a 10, 000-point blast inside.
He grunted owlishly and delivered an indignant sentiment, "I don't want to live!"
Solomon, the only one who didn't make a comment, saw this and ran over to Rupert with his little short legs wide open.
On tiptoe, trying to imitate Eloise's head-touching gesture.
Naija was too short and only touched Rupert's thigh.
I saw him say with a serious face, "Little Uncle, you can't die, who will buy me candy canes if you die?"
Rupert was so touched by this that he picked up the little one and kissed him haphazardly.
He lamented, "Solomon is the best person in this family to be nice to me and to know that he is thinking of his little uncle."
On one side, Hector curled his lips in disdain.
What an idiot, my son is obviously thinking of your money for candy ...
He's not going to strike Rupert twice, though.
