Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 543: You won't think twice about it
The blinding sunlight penetrates the hospital glass and falls vertically on Hector's slightly pale face.
At the mention of Agnes, his brow furrows fiercely, revealing a creeping hatred.
When Rupert saw this, his heart was tugged up with mixed emotions.
He doesn't doubt for a moment that replaceing Agnes to avenge his sister-in-law has become the spiritual pillar that holds Hector together.
At the moment, he does so with a selfish heart and some hope that Agnes will be able to stay hidden for a longer period of time.
In this way, his brother could also live strongly with this obsession.
Putting a hand on Hector's shoulder, Rupert looked at Hector's haggard face and said in a deep voice, "Don't worry, brother, our men are already on Agnes' trail. I'll let you know as soon as there's any news, but the most important thing right now is that you take care of yourself."
Rupert's voice was a little hoarse as he looked at him worriedly.
He was afraid that if Hector didn't eat or drink for a few more days, his body would not be able to cope.
"Don't worry, I can't die yet."
Hector had little expression.
In his eyes, the river of stars had fallen, and his tone carried a strong sense of mourning.
He won't go down until he replaces Agnes.
Eloise ...
Repeating Eloise's name over and over in his mind's eye, Hector tasted bitterness in his throat.
My throat burns, but it doesn't hurt as much as the wound in my heart.
After taking a deep breath, Hector averted his eyes and tightened his jaw.
In an extremely calm tone, he said to Rupert: "In the next few days, send your men to the cities along the coast to look for them, and also to inquire about the ships that appeared in the vicinity that day."
There was a hint of pleading in his words, "Rupert, look again, maybe, someone passing by will save Eloise."
His eyes twitched slightly at the mention of Eloise.
Like a small stone dropped in a pool of stagnant water, a ripple is created and soon returns to silence.
Rupert sniffed and his nose tingled a little.
In fact, he had expected Hector to say that.
"Understood, I'll instruct them to keep looking."
Although the fishing brigade has withdrawn from the waters, the family has nurtured a number of elites over the years.
It is possible to divest a part of it for the search.
However, such an aimless search is ultimately a needle in a haystack.
Knowing that your hopes will be dashed, you still have to go for it.
After that day, the Rogers Group sent men to search the area daily, and the nearby islands were searched one by one. They took Eloise's photo and went along to ask the fishermen nearby, but none of them said they had seen Eloise. Even the surrounding cities were visited, as long as Hector had circled them.
However, as the days passed, there was no word from Eloise.
The sadness that enveloped the Rogers family grew stronger and the formerly cheerful family became more and more reticent. Eloise has become the unspeakable subject.
On this day, Hector returned from his quest in the next town.
As soon as he entered the house, his head drooped and he walked with a dishevelled gait towards his bedroom.
Once inside, he locked himself in and didn't say a word.
Mrs Matriarch looked at the back of her eldest son as he disappeared around the corner, her eyebrows dropping slightly.
She sighed and turned to ask Rupert, who had returned with her.
"Well? Did you get anything today?"
It's a question she repeats every day and has asked no less than a hundred times.
Rupert shook his head as he pressed down on his temple, a hint of pain covering his brow, "Brother wouldn't have that look on his face if he had." Mrs Matriarch sniffed and nodded in dismay.
A month has passed and they spend every day in a mixture of hope and disappointment.
Every time you set foot on an island, every time you don't pass through a city, you go through the process of going from hope to despair.
This painful emotion crushed every nerve and nearly broke down.
Mrs Matriarch shuddered to think how her poor child got through each day when she was so upset.
"Rupert, do you think there is any chance of Eloise surviving?" Mrs Matriarch, with red eyes and a choked voice, asked that question in her mind.
A slight haze fell over Rupert's eyes and he looked in the direction of the upper floors in silence.
After a few seconds, he shook his head with a heavy heart.
A month after it happened, if the initial hope was likened to a star twinkling in the darkness of the night, the light of this star of hope is now not enough to be taken in by the naked eye. It is so dark that one cannot see the light.
Mrs Matriarch sniffed and covered her lips, her eyes devoured with tears.
Still, she said reluctantly, "What if, what if a really nice person had saved Eloise."
"Even if that's the case, it doesn't make sense that my sister-in-law wouldn't come back for my brother and Solomon after being rescued? That's not normal." Rupert said with a bitter smile.
His rationality shattered the last bit of hope in Mrs Matriarch's mind, a cruel thing to say, he knew, but also a realistic one.
If he could have thought of it himself, his brother would have only thought of it earlier than he did, but his brother just wasn't willing to face that reality yet.
"It's just that maybe our family isn't blessed with that." A teardrop rolled down her cheek as Mrs Matriarch lamented.
And then as if she thought of something, she wiped her tears and urged Rupert, "You take care of the company these days, your brother he doesn't know how many years it will take him to get over it, ugh ..." Mrs Matriarch looked in the direction of the bedroom with a sad face and a heart full of helplessness.
"I know it, don't worry." Rupert said very calmly.
He has been forced to grow a lot in this month.
Without Hector in front of him, the days pressed on him, but they also exercised his mind.
In the evening, the door to Hector's room was still closed and Mrs Matriarch had to ask Rupert, "Go upstairs and check on him, I don't feel comfortable with Hector in his room alone."
Rupert nodded and went up to knock on Hector's door.
After a few knocks with no answer, he frowned fiercely.
"Brother, Mum is calling you down for dinner."
Hector remained silent.
Reaching for the doorknob, he found it unlocked from the inside, and Rupert's heart stuttered, subconsciously imagining the worst.
He started tapping hard on the door and shouted, "Brother, what are you doing in there, open the door!"
The snapping noise also caught the attention of Mrs Matriarch, who rushed up and enquired, "What's wrong?"
As soon as Rupert told her the situation, Mrs Matriarch was also anxious, "Oh no, your brother won't think twice about it, will he?"
During the month, Hector was dead set on not letting anyone into the bedroom, saying it would destroy the traces of Eloise's life. They also all knew that Hector's obsession was now deep and let him be.
But over the past few days, Hector's mental state has been getting worse and worse, and his whole person looks dishevelled. They were both worried that Hector might not think straight after spending so much time in a place that smelled like Eloise.
