Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 544: Why are you back
"I'll go and replace the spare key to the house!" Blushing furiously, Mrs Matriarch turned and made to go downstairs.
"It's too late, I'll just bang on the door." Rupert looked no better as he gritted his teeth and was about to rush towards the door of the room. But the next second, with a crash, the door was opened from the inside.
Hector appeared before them clutching a bottle of wine, his body shaking.
Inside the bedroom there are no lights on and the light is dim.
It was dark and oppressive, with a suffocating sense of oppression.
Hector was half leaning next to him, his handsome face having long since become haggard.
The whole thing looks a little unkempt and mournful to the extreme.
His beard had been unkempt for several days, and the scruff of his Greenara spread out.
Seeing him in this state, Mrs Matriarch could not persuade him to do anything more, so she dragged Rupert downstairs.
After a few days, Rupert couldn't stand it and picked Solomon up.
If there's anyone who can still give Hector more than a passing glance these days, it's Solomon.
He and his parents took turns to persuade him, all to no avail.
The little one who was picked up was very well behaved and stayed in the child's chair.
Rupert was distracted and didn't pay much attention to him.
Glancing inadvertently into the rear-view mirror, I suddenly noticed Solomon's eyes were red.
Rupert's heart raced and he asked, "Solomon, why are you crying?"
Solomon's little mouth deflated and he said in a small voice, "Little Uncle, is something wrong at home and why aren't Daddy and Mummy coming to see me?"
He stayed at the Godbold family for many days, expecting his parents to come and pick him up every day, but, but ...
Solomon's crystal tears slid slowly down his pale cheeks.
Rupert looked heartbroken and pulled over to stop the car.
Opening the back door, he took Solomon out and said soothingly, "Solomon, don't cry, little uncle will tell you, okay?"
Since Solomon was told to go back and pacify the big one, it was inevitable that he would have to know the truth.
At these words, Solomon nodded solemnly and said cautiously with a crying little milk voice, "I won't cry anymore, tell me quickly, little uncle."
Rupert's nose was sore, and suddenly reality felt so cruel.
He spoke slowly, "Mummy is in a little bit of trouble and can't go home for a while, your daddy is having a hard time, so Solomon needs to be strong. When you get back help little uncle take care of daddy and wait for mummy to come back together, can you do that?"
Solomon listened in confusion, he didn't know what was going on that kept Mummy from coming home.
But when he heard that Daddy needed him badly, he clenched his little fist and said firmly, "I can do it, I'll wait with Daddy until Mummy comes back."
Hearing Solomon's words, Rupert had mixed feelings and gave him a firm hug.
Repositioning him in the safety chair, he said in a pretend light-hearted voice, "Okay, let's go replace Daddy."
Rogers Group.
Inside the office, Hector steeled himself to leaf through the files.
Instead, Eloise's face always comes to mind, smiling, sly, strong and pouty.
It is impossible to counteract the thoughts in my heart.
He pushed the papers away and covered his face in pain.
"Daddy." A soft, sticky voice sounded in his ear.
Hector looked up to see Rupert appearing in the office doorway holding Solomon's hand.
He was in a trance for a while.
When Solomon saw him, he immediately broke away from his uncle's hand and pounced on him.
Hector reluctantly tugged at the corner of his mouth, hugged his soft little body and asked softly, "Solomon, what brings you back?"
Narrowing his eyes at Rupert coldly, containing reproach, wasn't picking Solomon up at this time adding to the mess?
Feeling the look in Hector's eyes, Rupert said, "Brother, Solomon hasn't seen you for a long time and he misses you. You two get along well as father and son, I'll go out and take care of business." Before leaving tell Hector with a mouthful that Solomon already knows.
Hector took a deep breath and hugged his son even harder.
The numb heart has been comforted for a little while, but the big empty hole in the heart can't be filled.
All morning, Solomon spent time in the president's office.
From time to time Rupert would run over to check on his older brother through the glass doors and see that he still looked distraught.
The already cold aura is now even more unapproachable.
The side lines of the face are like ice and snow, and the tightly pursed corners of the mouth reveal the owner's extremely bad mood.
But Solomon talks to him and he still responds patiently.
Just no smiles and much shorter responses.
Rupert scratched his hair and fretted in his mind.
His brother doesn't even buy into Solomon's story, so what can he do?
In the afternoon, it was not yet time to leave work.
Rupert was staring intently at his computer when out of the corner of his eye he caught a glimpse of his brother and Solomon passing through the doorway.
He immediately got up and wanted to go over.
But the force was too great, causing the chair to be pushed out of his way.
"Where are you going, brother?"
"Go home." Rupert was succinct.
At this Rupert immediately said doggedly, "Yes, yes, go home, it's only two hours before work anyway, I'll drive you."
"No, I can drive." Hector glanced at him and led Solomon straight away.
Rupert scratched his head, his brother could skip work and be capricious.
But he couldn't. The assistant was afraid that with the big boss gone, the pile of things would be left unattended.
Rupert had to sigh and return to his office with resignation.
But he was still unsure, after all, his brother was in quite a scary state just now.
So an excuse was found to call Hector.
Hector could guess what he was thinking through the phone and said faintly, "Don't worry, I have Solomon with me and won't do anything stupid." Hearing nothing else in his brother's words, Rupert giggled twice and hung up quickly.
In the car.
Solomon suddenly said in a serious voice, "Daddy, I'm sure Mummy and sister will be back."
At Solomon's words, Hector's hand stiffened and he responded with a low, "Hmm."
When he arrived home, Solomon turned the TV on and sat down on the sofa.
It was as if Hector could see Eloise sitting cross-legged on the sofa, watching the TV and laughing her head off.
When he hears his footsteps coming back, he turns around and calls him sweetly.
He couldn't hold back the sharp pain in his heart any longer and stumbled, holding on to the wall before he could stand.
The back, which had always been straight, hunched down with a bone-chilling silence and hurt.
After putting Solomon to bed, Hector returned to the bedroom.
The room was dark, no lights were on and the curtains swung in the wind.
It was late in the morning and the whole Rogers family was asleep.
Hector sat on the floor with a dozen empty bottles at his side, and in the darkness he burped softly.
Calm, wise eyes, tinged with wine, become misty.
"Eloise, where are you, come out, will you?" He hissed a prayer into the nothingness, his voice tinged with heart-rending pain.
