Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 845: High fever that won't go away
Maryam nudged Eloise's forehead and looked at her with amusement, "A mother of two and you're still pouting at me." "Why not? I'm a child before you."
Eloise scrunched up her little face and whispered a retort.
Mother and daughter chatted for a while in the living room, and later on, Hector's mother returned.
The two little ones play in front of Hector's mother and Maryam while a few adults sit on the sofa and chat.
The conversation got to Eloise's point.
"Eloise, how long are you guys planning to stay this time back home?"
Hector's mother asked as she carried a small fruit plate and fed Solomon while looking over at Eloise.
Eloise sniffed, pursed her lips and pondered.
She hadn't thought about returning to France with Hector for the rare time.
Hector's mother suddenly asked, and she couldn't help but think seriously about it.
"I intend to stay in the country for a while longer and still want to settle in if I can." Eloise hesitated for a moment, looking to Hector with uncertainty as she said this. "What a day, Solomon, come and give Grandpa a hug!"
Hector's father was in a good mood when he arrived home and saw the happy atmosphere in the house.
He took Solomon into his arms with a grin, not looking half as serious as he normally does.
Once Hector's father sat down, Hector's mother happily took his arm and said, "Eloise was talking about planning to settle in the country!"
When Eloise and Hector settled in France before, God knows how much they missed it.
When Hector's father heard this, he was immediately happy too.
The couple, of course, are eager for the family of four to come back and settle down.
Hector met the gaze of his own daughter-in-law, to whom he had no half-hearted resistance to such a look.
And it really is better to stay and settle in the country.
After exchanging a look with her, Hector spoke, "I'll have someone make arrangements for France when the time comes."
When Rupert came down the stairs, his eyes lit up and he ran down the stairs with a thump.
"Brother! Are you and your sister-in-law finally going to settle back in your home country? Great!"
Rupert just about jumped up and cheered as he loudly demanded, "Since you're all set to settle in the country, I strongly request a year of maternity leave!!!" God knows how busy he was during the years when his brother was out of the country.
The whole thing was like a gyroscope, not stopping to rest at all!
It has caused his time with his own wife to be greatly curtailed.
Hector glanced lazily at his brother and his thin lips twitched in a very ruthless refusal.
"No."
"On what grounds?"
Rupert was instantly displeased, "Brother you don't know, I'm as busy as a gyroscope all day and have to take maternity leave to be with my Aisly!" Hector smiles and asks rhetorically, "Maternity leave?"
Rupert nodded heavily.
"Aisly's the one having the baby not you, what kind of maternity leave are you taking?"
Hector's unflinching remark left Rupert speechless.
The family was also amused and laughed out loud.
Rupert simply sat beside Aisly with a face full of aggression, begging for comfort and hugs.
Aisly lost her smile and could only reach out and gently pat Rupert on the back.
"Come on, how grown up, still trying to be a child." She coaxed softly with downcast eyes.
The next few days have been hot and heavy for the Rogers family too.
This day, early in the morning.
As usual, Eloise took the two little ones downstairs for breakfast and then took them to the playground they had been clamouring to go to for a long time. Maryam is already sitting on the sofa watching TV, she is almost the first one in the family to get up every day.
The two little ones shouted sweetly, "Good morning, Grandma!"
"Mom, have you eaten yet?"
Eloise walks up to Maryam with Sweety and Solomon in her hands.
As she got closer, she noticed that Maryam's face was flushed with a somewhat unnatural flush.
Eloise let go of Sweety and Solomon and reached straight up to touch Maryam's cheek.
A little hot.
The back of her hand instantly switched places and pressed against Maryam's forehead.
It's also a bit hot, definitely a fever.
"Mum! Why didn't you even tell me you had a fever, did you take your medicine?"
Eloise was instantly anxious.
Maryam followed somewhat sluggishly, running her hand over the temperature of her forehead and smiling helplessly, "I said why I was a bit tired as soon as I got up today." Hector learned that his mother-in-law had a fever and had his housekeeper contact the family doctor straight away.
The family doctor was on call and came as quickly as possible when called.
The family doctor first took Maryam's temperature and did another brief examination.
"Thirty-seven degrees seven, which is a low fever, let me prescribe some medicine for you."
The family doctor shook off the thermometer and, after putting it back in the medicine cabinet, took some more medicine out of it.
After being instructed to take a few capsules a day a few times a day, he left the Rogers family.
Eloise poured a glass of warm water from the kitchen and then took out the medicine and handed it to Maryam together.
Solomon was patting Maryam's back, soothing her like a young adult, "Grandma, be good and take your medicine! You'll be well soon!"
Somewhat relieved, Maryam stroked Solomon's head and took the fever-reducing medicine before being driven back to her room to rest by Eloise. Eloise was so worried about her mother's fever that she couldn't go out without worrying.
She could only apologise kindly to the two little ones and tell them that the amusement park could only be visited another time.
Solomon and Sweety are both understanding children and very sweetly said it was okay.
Once Maryam slept, she slept through the afternoon.
When Eloise came in to take her temperature, instead of dropping, it was showing signs of a vague increase.
"Hector."
Eloise took the thermometer and ran to Hector, "Mum's temperature hasn't come down and I'm going to take her to the hospital."
Hector picked up the thermometer and looked at it against the light.
Thirty-eight degrees.
A constant fever that doesn't go away is not a good sign.
Hector was aware that Maryam's health had not been good, and immediately Eloise and Maryam drove out to the top hospital in the North District. Upon arrival at the hospital, Maryam was given a full body check-up.
The attending doctor, who was responsible for Maryam's care, pulled up her previous medical records and reviewed the test reports that had just come out. "Doctor, how is my mother? Is she okay and why does she have a high fever?"
Eloise couldn't wait any longer and anxiously asked several questions in quick succession.
"Miss Eloise."
Only then did the attending doctor put down the examination report in his hand and pushed his eyes on the bridge of his nose, his face somewhat grave, "Your mother's medical records and examination reports, I have read them all, her health base has not been good."
Eloise's heart clenched at the sound of this, and she bit her lower lip lightly as she quietly waited for the doctor to continue.
Seeing this, Hector reached out and put his arm around her shoulders to offer her comfort.
