Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 874: If you really can't, snatch it
At this time of the year, Milan, Italy, is like a beautiful painting at night.
Glancing outside, he saw that it was getting dark and Rowson had finished the business at hand.
He strides out of the Institute and prepares to go back.
He was parked next to his car at the far end of the car park, but leaning against a tall female figure. Katerina saw Rowson from a distance.
She raised her hand and waved it at him, with undisguised happiness in her eyes.
Rowson's thick brow furrowed and quickly relaxed.
He took out the car keys with a blank face, opened the door and sat straight into the main driver's seat.
Katerina very self-consciously pulled open the passenger door and sat in it.
Her long legs were folded together and her eyes darted up to Rowson with a wintry glance.
"Rowson, Eloise she's gone back to France."
A statement that seemed like a test made Rowson's fingers tighten a little on the steering wheel and his eyes take on an obscure and uncertain glint. He responded casually, with an expression of disinterest.
But Katerina is in a clear mood that this is nothing more than Rowson's disguise.
"Rowson, aren't you curious what she's doing back in France?"
Katerina hooks a strand of her own hair and wraps it in her fingers to play with it.
Rowson's heart stirred slightly and as he stepped on the gas he asked slowly and rhetorically, "She lives in France, what's so curious about that?"
Katerina burst into a chortle, "Living in France? Well what if I said... they were going to settle back in their home country this time and went to your parents to say goodbye." Katerina deliberately adds the word 'goodbye', meaning something.
Suddenly, the tyres crashed over the ground and the brakes were slammed down with a sharp, ear-piercing thud.
Rowson's pupils contracted abruptly, in dismay and shock, but were quickly collected.
He turned his head slightly sideways, his handsome face looking indistinguishable.
"Got it."
Rowson responded indifferently.
He looked calm and unconcerned, but he was in a bit of a trance, and the words were turning up in his mind in a huge wave. Eloise.
It was a name he had called up in his mind countless times.
The distance between them has also grown.
If this goes on, they will eventually become strangers, won't they?
The thought of this made Rowson feel very bad.
The eyes are full of bitterness, and even the throat is bitter.
There was a sudden blinding light in the line of sight and Katerina's cry of alarm rang out around Rowson.
"Look out!"
The steering wheel was yanked violently by Katerina.
The car was able to avoid the oncoming car that almost hit it.
Rowson returned, still with that bemused expression, not the least bit worried.
Katerina slapped her chest and gasped softly in fear before turning her head and shouting, "Are you crazy? You're driving out of your mind! Can't you concentrate!" Rowson pulled up the corner of his mouth and smiled unnecessarily before stepping on the gas again.
The car swooshes off like an arrow.
Katerina leaned back against the car seat from inertia and looked at Rowson with indignation in her eyes.
She opened her mouth, but swallowed her words.
Back at home, Rowson parked the car and ignored Katerina before getting out.
After taking out the key and opening the door, he casually dropped it on the coffee table.
Katerina followed in her footsteps as she closed the door behind her.
Rowson has gone over to the wine cabinet, which contains many different kinds of expensive wines.
He opened the liquor cabinet, took out a bottle of wine and unscrewed the cap, without using a glass, tilted his head to the bottle and took a large sip.
The cold, spicy liquor slides down the throat and into the stomach, burning all the way through.
Even so, instead of being less bitter, the bitterness in his heart was more troubled.
It was clear to him that what he had done was not enough to be forgiven.
But...
He didn't want to see him and Eloise drifting apart like that.
In no time at all, Rowson was downing most of the foreign wine.
Katerina came clattering along on her heels, she reached out and snatched the bottle straight from her hand and set it aside.
She then stared at Rowson with her arms around her chest and spoke demanding, "It's time you gave me the antidote."
It was then that Rowson looked up, and he gave Katerina a cold glance.
After getting up and handing Katerina the antidote, she continued to drink.
Katerina familiarly poured warm water and swallowed it with the antidote.
Looking up again, I saw Rowson staring at the bottle with a trance-like expression.
The look was so gentle that it could sink any girl.
Katerina put down her empty glass of water and paced over to Rowson to sit down.
She leaned on the table with her elbows bent, her chin propped up in her palms as she gazed at Rowson.
Drunken men look even more eye-catching.
She hooked her lips and smiled softly, "If you keep drinking you're going to get drunk."
Rowson, oblivious to this, picked up his bottle and took another large gulp.
The face of Eloise is the one that crosses my mind.
She was smiling, angry, furious, and, well, disappointed.
Rowson's thin, drink-stained lips twitched and he called out Eloise's name wordlessly.
Katerina, who had been watching him, could not resist speaking up when she saw the look of loss on his face.
"Some things are done, and there's no undoing them."
Rowson's hand lurched as he put the bottle down.
Does he need to be taught this truth?
"If you can't, just snatch the man yourself, what's the point of drinking away your sorrows here?"
Katerina said with a soft grunt.
On hearing this, Rowson exploded like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
He let go and let the empty bottle fall to the floor, shattering in pieces, "What do you know!"
Katerina sneered, her pale cheeks looking more and more sultry and seductive in the light. The light was on.
"I don't understand it, but you can't go back either, having done something to hurt her, that stays in your heart forever."
It's like driving a nail into a board; even if you pull it out, there's still a hole left.
Rowson was reticent to speak.
Katerina saw this and continued on.
"Do you expect her to take you in again? If you ask me, why don't you just snatch her and make her forget about Hector again, so that maybe she'll be yours forever?" Her words carried a certain compulsion.
Rowson didn't bother to listen as he got up and took another bottle of wine from the liquor cabinet and opened it straight away, ignoring the presence of the woman beside him. Katerina saw Rowson like this and was unnamedly enraged.
"Are you still a man?"
She cursed indignantly through clenched teeth.
The answer was still silence, or perhaps Rowson didn't even bother to talk to her.
Katerina just felt like a fire was brewing in her chest.
What was so great about that Eloise, she wondered?
What makes so many good men, one after the other, tear their hearts out for her?
