Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 918: Diversion
As his words fell, the air fell into a deadly silence and an invisible sense of oppression pressed straight through.
John couldn't help but swallow, a layer of sweat breaking out on his back even though the restaurant was cool enough.
The young man sitting across the table had a bland expression; it was impossible to tell what was on his mind, but you could still sense that he was angry. "Mr Bergerian ..." John called out carefully.
He had prepared himself mentally before he came, but he couldn't help but be scared at this moment.
He may be older than Bergerian, but he's no match for him in terms of brains and tact, not to mention the fact that he's a tough guy.
It's only natural that he would be scared.
Bergerian's eyes were downcast, his gaze falling on his fingers fondling the rim of his glass, silent as if he hadn't heard John's voice.
John didn't dare to say anything else for a while, but waited on pins and needles for him to speak up.
A few long minutes passed before Bergerian slowly lifted his eyes to look at him, "You, what did you just say?"
The voice was calm, nothing different.
But John knew he was angry and, not caring to be afraid, hurriedly repeated what he had just said.
Bergerian hooked his lips in a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, "John, you've got a real knack for it."
"I'm sorry, it was an oversight on my part."
Looking at John, who was apologising in a low voice, Pierce, who was standing on the sidelines, was very dismissive.
"Say, what's going to happen now?" Bergerian leaned back in his chair, his warmthless gaze falling on John's face.
"What to do?" John's mind went blank and couldn't give any solutions for a while.
Bergerian's face was visibly growing hard, "John, you can't afford to have the research delayed."
"I know I do." John wiped the sweat from his forehead and continued, "Don't worry, I will never hold you up."
"Oh?" Bergerian raised an eyebrow, "So you've figured out what to do?"
"I will reorder a fresh batch of herbs and as for the stolen medicines I will try to get them back."
That's all John can think of doing at the moment.
Bergerian nodded thoughtfully, "So do you think I should give you a chance?"
"It's really about the SA Group this time,"
John was quick to answer, "But hopefully Mr Bergerian will understand that this research is something only we at SA Group can do."
This means that Bergerian can only work with the SA Group.
At that, Bergerian burst out laughing.
John was a little stunned and didn't understand what he was laughing at.
But the next moment he saw him withdraw his smile and his expression instantly sank, the displeasure in his eyes obvious.
It was then that John realised he had said the wrong thing and was about to open his mouth to make amends when he was interrupted by Bergerian.
"There are a plethora of research laboratories doing drug research, and the SA Group is not the only one that can."
Bergerian glared coldly at John, his mind irritated by what he had just said.
"I'm sorry, it was a slip of the tongue."
John was afraid that Bergerian would cancel the cooperation and hurriedly assured, "Please Mr Bergerian trust me and trust SA Group, we will achieve the mission." Halfway through a study, it's not good to change the partner on short notice.
And the SA Group is responsible for the most important part of the whole study.
So Bergerian spoke in a soft voice, "I'll give you another month, if you don't deliver what I want by then, our partnership is over!"
On hearing this, John was secretly relieved, but did not dare to show it.
He nodded busily, "Understood, I'll get the job done as soon as possible."
...
Meanwhile, Killers came to see Hector at the hotel again.
"Something wrong?"
At the sight of Killers, Hector's brow was locked in a somewhat impatient manner.
"Hey, what's that look on your face?" Killers yelled disgruntled, "At least I've done you a lot of favours, be nice, will you?"
Killers glared at him, then pushed him away and walked straight to the couch and sat down.
"Killers, please have coffee." Thomas had the good sense to serve a cup of coffee.
"Still you know your stuff."
Killers grinned at him in satisfaction.
Thomas returned a somewhat embarrassed smile.
Actually, he's not understanding, he's just sympathetic to the fact that Killers gets pissed off at the Prince every time.
Hector sat down opposite her, his slender figure leaning back, his long legs folded, his arms resting casually on the armrest, his shirt cuffs pulled up to expose his wrists, and his long, bony fingers, inexplicably ascetic. What a superb man.
Even though he was angry, Killers couldn't help but indulge in the beauty before him.
Seeing her staring straight at his prince's hand, Thomas couldn't help but cough.
At the sound of the voice, Killers snapped back to her senses, a flash of annoyance in her beautiful eyes as she realised she had fallen for Hector's beauty.
"And you're just okay looking."
That's a bit of a loaded statement.
Hector didn't even care and just asked blandly, "Is there something you came for?"
Killers rolled his eyes, "Couldn't I have come to catch up with you?"
"I don't have that kind of time, and neither do you."
Well, he was such a boring man that good looks were the only thing he had going for him.
Killers squared his face and said, "John and Bergerian met."
Having guessed about the SA Group's relationship with Bergerian, Hector was not surprised to hear this news.
"Is everything done?" Hector asked.
The subject changed so quickly that Killers didn't respond for a moment, "What is it?"
"Avert your eyes."
It took Hector a moment to respond and Killers bristled uncomfortably, "Isn't that bullshit you're asking?" "Thanks."
It was rare to hear words of thanks from him and Killers was stunned, thinking he had heard wrong.
When the reaction came, the realisation that it was really him who said it jumped up at once.
"Hector, what did you just say?" She looked at him incredulously.
The corner of Hector's mouth twitched at the sight of her getting so worked up, "What are you doing?"
"I can't believe you thanked me!"
Killers lunged at him.
Hector blocked her with a quick eye and a cold face, "Killers!"
Killers was startled, then realised he had gotten too excited and hurriedly withdrew his hand and smiled sardonically, "Sorry, got excited."
Hector looked at her coldly, his face full of displeasure.
Not daring to make any more of it, Killers hastily changed the subject, "John won't suspect you for now, so hurry up with whatever you want to do." "And Bergerian must have something bad in mind again when he meets with John, so watch out."
She didn't want to have to help him with his troubles again.
"Nothing more than a desire to reorder herbs." Hector sneered and curled his lips.
Now that the herbs have been burned, Bergerian's research cannot proceed smoothly.
As long as they want to continue this research, they will definitely come back to order herbs from themselves.
Killers thought of it too and furrowed her thin brows, "What, you still want to sell to them?"
"There's no need for that."
"So what do you mean?" Killers suddenly realized that his mind was really completely impenetrable.
"I came to Italy for no other reason than to replace out about the SA Group's relationship with Bergerian and their research."
Now that he has achieved his goal, then there is no need for him to sell the herbs to the SA Group.
