Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 927: Stirring up trouble
"Who was it? Who made the high bid?"
Pierce saw John stand up emotionally and wondered what Mr Hector was saying on the other side of the phone.
"I'm sorry, I can't disclose that."
Hector's nonchalant voice came through and John stormed at the sound of it, "You!"
"Mr John, for the sake of our partnership, let me kindly remind you that who else needs such a large quantity of herbs but you."
It was only when he mentioned this that John realised it wasn't that simple.
"Mr Hector, can you make it clear?" He wanted to ask something more from Hector's mouth.
"I've said all I need to say, that's all."
The phone hung up.
"Shit!" John threw his phone down on the table.
"Mr John, what's wrong?"
Pierce stepped forward and asked cautiously.
John took a deep breath, suppressing the anger that was churning inside him, and said, "Someone offered a high price to intercept the herbs we wanted." "No way!"
Pierce immediately blurted out, "Who else would want that amount of herbs but us."
John sneered, "There really are people who need such a large amount of herbs as we do."
"Who?"
John didn't say, "You replace a way to contact Mr Hector again and see if you can sell us the herbs."
"Yes."
Pierce led the way and left.
John narrowed his eyes, a shadowy look in them.
Now, apart from him, Bergerian is the only one who needs the herbs, which means that the high bidder is most likely Bergerian.
It seems that these two incidents in quick succession have caused Bergerian to lose trust in the SA Group.
Then why did he promise to give him a month?
Suddenly John's eyes went wide and then he burst out laughing.
"Well, Bergerian, it turns out it wasn't time for me, but time for yourself. Giving me the opportunity openly, but secretly approaching Mr Hector personally to cut off the herbs from him. What a brilliant move!" John felt that he had finally sorted things out. Since Bergerian had broken the contract in the first place, there was no point in keeping it and he had to think of another way out.
Hector did nothing more than verbally provoke, but John fell for it anyway.
...
At the same time, Bergerian was informed that one of their more secretive research institutes had been attacked and a copy of the data and the research and development of the drug had been stolen. Bergerian was furious and swept everything off the table with a wave of his arm, "Rubbish! You're a bunch of losers!"
The roar echoed through the large office and several of the men kept their heads down, not daring to breathe a word.
The location of the institute has been so hidden that it was discovered and even destroyed, and now even the information drugs have been lost.
This was certainly a big blow to Bergerian.
Bergerian took a deep breath, suppressed his anger and shot a stern gaze at some of his men, "What are you standing around for? Go and replace out who has the audacity to go against me!" "Yes!" Several men led the way and turned to leave.
"Wait!" Bergerian suddenly shouted out to stop them.
Several men stood still in unison and turned in fear, "Mr Bergerian, what else can I do for you?"
Bergerian narrowed his eyes and said in a quiet voice, "That institute can't stay for now, you get someone to move it immediately, make it clean and don't leave any traces." "And make sure you replace out for me who did it."
Just then, a voice came in from the doorway.
"The SA Group's drugs have just been stolen, how come we have a problem on our side too?"
Everyone, including Bergerian, looked at the sound of the voice and the person who came was Hall.
He walked up to Bergerian and bowed his head respectfully, "Mr. Berg."
Bergerian frowned, "What brings you here?"
"I heard that the Institute had been attacked and had some questions in mind that I wanted to talk to you about." Hall lifted his head and looked at him with a calm face. "Doubtful?"
"Yes, I think the Institute ..."
Hall didn't go on, but looked at the men who hadn't left yet.
Bergerian understood what he meant and gave a wink to the men, who understood and hurried away.
"They're all gone, so you can talk." Bergerian gave Hall a sidelong glance and paced over to the sofa and sat down.
Hall followed and then began to talk about his doubts.
"It's logical that our institute is so secretive that outsiders wouldn't know about it, except for the people on the inside and ..."
Speaking of which, Hall hesitated, as if there was something he couldn't say.
Bergerian didn't have the patience for that and scolded impatiently, "Can't you finish your sentence in one breath?"
"There are also... individual collaborators."
Individual collaborators?
Bergerian somewhat missed his point, "What do you mean by that?"
Hall did not answer directly, but said, "Mr Bergerian, those research drugs have extraordinary prices, and if they are developed successfully, the profits they bring can be incalculable. And that's something that anyone in their right mind can think about."
When he finished, Hall still had a calm face, as if he was telling a commonplace story.
He didn't spell it out, he just nailed it, trusting that a Bergerian mind could figure it out.
Bergerian narrowed his eyes as he finally caught the hidden meaning of his words.
"SA Group!" Bergerian clenched his teeth with a fierce face, "How dare that guy John betray me, don't you want to die?"
Knowing John, he didn't seem like someone who would do such a thing.
Bergerian thought for a moment, his sharp gaze directed to Hall, "Could the supposed theft of the research drug and the burning of the herbs also be a lie?"
"Most likely."
"Damn John!" said Bergerian, clenching his fists, wanting to bruise John to death now.
It has always been the case that those who betray him do not end up well.
Seeing how angry he was, a glimmer of light passed under Hall's eyes, quickly and fleetingly.
By now Bergerian was convinced that John had betrayed him, that John had had his institute attacked and the information and drugs stolen in order to keep all the profits for himself. Want it all for yourself?
Bergerian sneered, that would depend on whether he had such an appetite.
"Hall."
"In."
"Do you have a way of getting the facts straight?" Bergerian stared at Hall for an instant.
Hall nodded, "From what I know, the SA Group has more than one warehouse, so with a good investigation we might be able to replace evidence."
"Then replace out, and replace out exactly what you can for me." Bergerian had a ruthless look on his face, "Report back to me as soon as you replace out." "Yes!"
Hall led the way and prepared to leave.
"Wait." Bergerian called out to him.
Hall stands firm.
"Be careful when you check, don't let John and the others notice."
"Understood."
After Hall left, Bergerian leaned back against the sofa and closed his eyes wearily.
Damn SA Group, damn John, how dare he break the contract, totally ignoring him. Then he won't let them off the hook either.
