Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 959: You shouldn't worry about me
"Just up in arms?"
Maryam is not very convinced.
Knowing her own second brother and sister-in-law, how could they have come over to apologise to Eloise in person if it was just a conflict? Unless something more serious than that has happened.
"Mom, it's really just a little conflict." Eloise smiled helplessly.
To avoid further questioning from her mother, she added: "They'll come over and apologise just because I'm from the Rogers family, Hector's wife." It was only when she said this that Maryam thought of the connection.
It is indeed very much like what her second brother and sister-in-law would have done if it was simply to not want to offend the Rogers family. "You're really not lying to me?" Maryam stared at Eloise suspiciously.
Eloise smiled and put her arm around her shoulders, "No, how could I lie to you?"
"Of course you'd lie to me." Maryam glared at her without mercy.
Although her deception is that she does not want to worry her, as a mother, she still wants her daughter to have nothing to hide from her. "Okay, Mum, let's not talk about it." Eloise changed the subject, then picked up the porridge on the coffee table, "Eat it while it's still hot."
Seeing through her little mind, Maryam shook her head and laughed, "You child."
"Mum, take your time eating, I'm going over to see Grandpa."
Eloise put the porridge in her hand and went to see the old man in the next ward.
...
Hector returned to City J and went straight to the office.
As soon as he entered the office, Thomas, who was immediately behind him, spoke up and said, "Prince, Pierce has been wanting to talk to you personally and has called me quite a few times, what do you mean..." "If he calls again, let me know and I'll talk to him personally." Hector explained.
Although Sener and Almeida hadn't found anything unusual about Eloise's fainting spell earlier, it was like a thorn in his side that he couldn't bear to remove.
He always felt that since it had something to do with the virus, then maybe he could get something out of Pierce.
Thomas nodded, "Good."
Hector took off his suit jacket and handed it to Thomas, then unbuttoned the cuffs of his shirt and casually rolled it up to reveal a small section of his lean arm, propped it up on his desk with one hand, his eyes flicking up. "Any news from Italy?"
"Nope. Nothing new since Ramm last terminated one of the Bergerian institutes."
Hearing Thomas' words, Hector got thoughtful.
"Prince, Bergerian is a very cunning man, he changed his location immediately after that institute was destroyed, and with it several other institutes, so we have to re-investigate."
Hector sneered, "The Bergerian is so guarded that it may not be so easy for us to make another move."
"So what should we do now?" Thomas asked.
"Tell Ramm to keep checking, and not to do anything rash, lest we spook the snake." Hector straightened up and narrowed his dark eyes, a coldness in them.
"Understood." Thomas led the way and departed.
No sooner had he left than Rupert entered.
"Brother."
Hector raised his eyes and looked at him with an expressionless face.
"Why all of a sudden do you want to work with the Khan Group on some biotech company?" Rupert was filled with confusion.
This is an area that the Rogers Group rarely covers, which is why he is surprised.
"What's wrong?" Hector asked instead of answering.
Hector froze, "No ... not really, just thought it was weird."
"Nothing strange, it's just plain business." Hector explained gently.
"It's that simple?" Rupert was a little incredulous.
"How was SweetySolomon the last two days?"
He's changing the subject too quickly.
The corner of Rupert's mouth twitched, but he answered honestly, "They're all very well behaved."
"You'll pick them both up at the office for me this afternoon."
"Why?"
"I'm taking them to Kyoto."
Eloise might be staying in Kyoto for a while longer and he was worried that the two kids would miss their mum if they were away for too long and Eloise couldn't let go of the two little ones, so he was planning to bring them over there for a few days.
"Okay." Rupert nodded, "So how's Grandpa Khan?"
"The usual."
Rupert thought about it and added, "Mum and Dad have mentioned it over the past two days and there in wanting to go over to Kyoto to visit the old man in person and for the two families to meet."
At that, Hector frowned slightly, "Let's wait for the old man to wake up first."
The Khan family, apart from Edgar's family, are not very nice and if the parents go, there is no telling what kind of fuss will be made then.
"I'll talk to Mum and Dad then."
With those words, Rupert turned to leave.
"Wait." Hector called out to him.
Rupert turns back.
"Edgar should be sending you information on the companies he's working with today, so you're on your own." Hector said.
"What did you say?" Rupert thought he had misheard, "Why should I be in charge when it's obvious that you're the one who negotiated the partnership with the people?" "Because I don't have time."
"No time?"
Rupert looked at him incredulously, how in the world could someone be so righteous?
He took a deep breath, "Brother, you mustn't forget that your sister-in-law is still pregnant and I, as a husband, should always spend more time with her."
"Did I ask you not to accompany?" Hector asked rhetorically.
Rupert choked.
He really didn't say he wouldn't allow company, but ...
"Go and get busy." Hector sat down and picked up the papers on his desk and flicked through them.
Rupert sighed in resignation, "Brother, I'm going to have to request a few months off after this collaboration is done."
Hector did not refuse nor did he agree.
But Rupert took it as his tacit approval.
...
In the afternoon, Eloise was in hospital with her mother when her mobile phone suddenly rang.
She thought it was Hector calling, but when she looked at the caller ID, it was a foreign number.
A thin brow furrowed in disbelief, who was it?
Mrs Darlington?
She picked up, "Hello."
There was dead silence on the other side of the phone.
Thinking the other party had hung up, she took the phone down to see that it was still on the line.
So she said it again, "Hello, who is it please?"
There was still no sound.
She wanted to hang up straight away, when suddenly someone flashed through her mind.
"Rowson?" she called out tentatively.
Still no sound.
But after a few seconds, a familiar voice rang in my ears, "Eloise."
It really is Rowson.
"Where are you now?" Eloise got a little excited.
Rowson didn't answer her, but asked, "Eloise, how have you been feeling?"
"It's okay."
Eloise remembered Mrs Darlington's earlier explanation and asked anew, "Where exactly are you now? Mum and Dad are worried about you." "So are you worried about me?" Rowson asked.
Eloise froze.
Before she could answer, a soft chuckle came from the other side of the phone, "I don't think you should worry about me."
Even through the phone, you could still hear the self-deprecation and loss in his voice.
