Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 960: As long as you are well, I am well
Eloise couldn't help but feel a little sad, "I ... How have you been?"
No matter what he had done, in her heart he would always be her family. "Not good, not good at all."
Not expecting him to answer that way, Eloise was at a loss as to what to say.
Rowson chuckled softly, "But as long as you're well, I'm fine."
The tip of Eloise's nose couldn't help but sink, she hurriedly took a deep breath to hold back her tears and smiled, "I'm fine, don't worry." "That's fine."
The words fell, and both men fell silent.
It was a while before Eloise took the lead, "You should go back and see Dad and Mum sometime, they're two poor old people."
"Got it." Rowson said, "Tell Hector that if he can't take care of you, I'll pick you up."
Eloise lost her smile, "Don't worry, he'll take care of me."
Rowson turned his head to look out the window at the darkening sky with a rueful look, "That's it, goodbye."
Without waiting for Eloise to respond, he hung up straight away.
He slowly lowered his head, a bitter smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
He and Eloise have drifted farther and farther apart, never to return.
The thought of this started a pang of pain in my heart.
Lifting a hand to clasp his chest, he laughed out, a smile that was all but mocking of himself.
There is also... remorse for the past.
"What is this trouble for you?"
Catherine walked up to him, her gaze fixed on him.
Rowson instantly hid all emotion, sank his face and spoke coldly, "When did you get here?"
Catherine hooked her lips, "Does it matter when I'm here?"
She had just stood in the doorway watching him on the phone, he really was an infatuation, he was in some kind of danger himself and he still didn't forget to care about that Eloise. Rowson narrowed his eyes, "You heard everything?"
"I heard what I should have heard and what I shouldn't have heard." Catherine snorted, "Rowson, I replace you have a lot of nerve to contact that woman." Rowson grimaced without making a sound.
Catherine stepped forward and closed in on him, her red lips pressed against his ear, "Don't you forget whose territory you're in now, and watch out for your life."
A fierce look flashed across his eyes as Rowson pushed her away and smiled coldly, "I wouldn't have come if I was afraid."
Catherine clenched her fists and smiled peevishly, "Then I'm going to see how long you have to live."
Rowson leaned over and whispered in her ear, "Don't look, I'll outlive you."
Having said that, he left on his way.
"Rowson!"
Catherine turned back, glaring at his departing back in annoyance.
She took a deep breath to ease the anger in her heart.
Can't really understand what's so great about that Eloise that he's so dead set on joining Bergerian's research team.
No regard for their lives at all.
Catherine couldn't understand what the little bit of resentment in her heart was all about either.
She brushed her lips in disdain, "Forget it, what does it matter to me whether he's dead or alive."
...
Maryam saw her daughter standing dumbfounded with her phone after she finished talking on the phone, not knowing what she was thinking. "Eloise," she called out tentatively.
Hearing the voice, Eloise immediately snapped back to attention and turned her head to look over, raising her lips in a smile as she met her mother's concerned gaze. "Mom, what's wrong?"
"Who was it that called?" Maryam asked.
"A friend."
Eloise didn't want to say it was Rowson, partly because she was afraid her mother would worry and partly because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to tell. So more is better than less.
"It's a very important friend of yours, isn't it?"
There is no better way to know a daughter than her mother.
Eloise nodded, "Well, it's a very important friend."
In fact, Rowson was more like a family member to her, one she wanted to cherish.
"Did something happen to him?" Maryam asked more, seeing that she looked a little stoned.
"No, he just called to see if he was concerned about me."
"So." Maryam smiled and continued, "Let Mum meet him too sometime later."
Eloise smiled, "Good."
...
Herrin didn't take the events of last night to heart, but rather felt that his parents' reaction was over the top.
No, he had only just got home when Devona called him into the study.
"Tell me, who do you want to mess with but Eloise, are you tired of living?" Devona pointed at Herrin's nose in anger and scolded him.
Herrin still looked hung over and said carelessly, "Didn't I say that I was a bit top heavy from the wine? What's the big deal to make you so angry?"
"How big a deal is that?" Devona slapped him down on the head, "She's Hector's wife, the Rogers family! Do you think they'll leave you alone?"
It was the mention of the Rogers family that started to scare Herrin a little, but he still didn't care, "So what if she's from the Rogers family, she's not from our Khan family, we don't talk about family, it's fine." "You!"
Devona felt she would really be angry with him.
But if he can realise that he has done wrong and go meekly to apologise, maybe people can forgive him.
But at this moment, he's totally dead!
Devona took a deep breath, suppressed her anger and advised patiently, "Listen to me, be a good boy and apologise to Eloise and this will end."
"Apologize?" Herrin drew up his voice in disbelief as he pointed at himself with a defiant look on his face, "Dad, you're asking me to apologize to that woman? What the hell is wrong with that?" "Whatever it is, this is your fault! If you should apologize, you should apologize!"
Devona's tone was firm.
"I don't want it!" Herrin brushed his head away.
He's a man apologising to a woman, either his dad is crazy or he's crazy himself!
An absolute impossibility!
"Bastard!" Devona's anger rushed up again and slapped down again, "For your sake, your mother and I even pulled this old face to apologize to someone personally, what else are you not willing to do?" Hearing this, Herrin was shocked, "You and Mum went to apologise?"
"If it wasn't for you, for your brother, would we be so humiliated?" Devona was just mad at Herrin for not knowing what to do with his time.
Now that the Khan Group is in Edgar's hands and their second house is no match for the first, they will have no place in the Khan family if they don't get a backer.
Herrin chortled, "You're the ones who want to go, what do I have to do with it?"
Yes, he did think Eloise was pretty and had the wrong idea, but didn't he get away with it?
As for being so exaggerated?
"Asshole!"
Enraged by his words, Devona picked up the cup on the table and smashed it.
Luckily, Herrin reacted quickly and sidestepped the glass.
The cup fell to the floor and broke.
Looking at the splattered debris, Herrin's heart palpitated and got a little angry at the same time.
"Dad, I'm your son, do you have to hit me so hard?"
