Love Comes To Me
Chapter 987: More than just partners

Eloise's chest choked at the sight of Sweety's move.

She walked over, knelt down and asked carefully, "Sweety, what's wrong? Did someone bully you?"

Sweety tilted her head sideways and just wouldn't look at her or say anything.

Eloise turned her head to look at the teacher.

Before she could say anything, the teacher immediately understood what she meant and hurriedly said, "Sweety is very well behaved today, no different from usual." It didn't look like the teacher was lying when she looked anxious.

"Sweety, don't ignore Mummy, okay?"

To make Sweety pay attention to herself, Eloise pretended to be so aggrieved and sad that even her voice was deliberately tinged with a bit of crying.

"It's obvious that Mommy doesn't love me." Sweety muttered.

Eloise heard this and raised her thin eyebrows, asking in confusion, "Who says Mummy doesn't love you?"

"If not, then why have you and Daddy both gone to stay with your brother?"

Sweety finally turned her head around, her mouth deflated and her eyes slowly reddening.

It looks pathetic.

Eloise was instantly distraught and hurriedly took her into her arms, explaining softly, "Your brother is hurt, that's why daddy and mummy are there with him." "You can let Grandma go with him."

It finally dawned on Eloise that the little one was having a tantrum because she and Hector hadn't been with her today.

"Sweety, do you love your brother?"

"Love." Sweety didn't hesitate to say the answer.

"Brother he loves you too. Brother is hurt and he's in pain and needs Daddy and Mommy around. If it was Sweety who needed Daddy-Mummy, we would have been there too, okay?" Eloise explained patiently. Sweety remembered how much blood her brother had lost in the morning and how much it must have hurt especially.

Compared to her sports day, it was definitely more important to have a brother.

"Sweety knows."

Sweety tilted her little face and asked, "How is brother?"

"Uncle Doc bandaged his wounds, but he'll be in hospital for a few days."

Eloise guffawed, "Still mad at Mummy?"

"I'm sorry, Mummy. I shouldn't have been so petty." Sweety lowered her head and whispered an apology.

"It's okay." Eloise stroked her little head, "It's Mommy and Daddy's fault for not being able to accompany you to the Games."

"No, it's daddy mummy who has to look after brother."

Eloise smiled gently, "Sweety is awesome, so understanding."

"Sweety, let's go see brother at the hospital." Hector came over and picked Sweety up in his arms.

Sweety wrapped her arms around his neck and cocked her head, her voice like her name, Sweety ground out, "Daddy, I want a burger, can I?"

"You ask your mommy."

Sweety turned her head to look at Eloise.

Eloise smiled, "Sure."

"Yay, I can have a burger!" Sweety cheered out.

Hector and Eloise looked at each other and smiled, the emotions of children always come and go quickly.

...

Edgar had asked Earlene to meet him at the same Italian restaurant where they had first dined together. This time, Edgar arrived early.

As he waited for Earlene to arrive, he occasionally pulled the gift out and looked at it, his heart pounding.

"I'll make sure she makes a good impression on me this time." He cheered himself on.

It was almost seven o'clock when Earlene arrived late.

"Good evening."

Earlene is dressed in professional attire, her long hair is casually worn, her pretty face is covered with delicate make-up, her temperament is particularly elegant, and the light falls on her as if she is plated with a layer of light. Edgar rushed to his feet and got up so quickly that his hand accidentally swept the glass off the table.

The water ran all over the table.

Damn!

Edgar blushed slightly and wiped his hands and feet with a few tissues as he gave Earlene a forced smile, "I'm sorry for making you laugh." "It's fine."

Earlene called the waiter over.

Soon the table was wiped clean.

Edgar breathed a long sigh of relief and looked up to see Earlene still standing and hurried over to pull out her chair for her, "Sit down." "Thanks."

Once she was seated, Edgar returned to his seat.

"You order." He pushed the menu in front of her.

After ordering, Earlene looked up at him and opened the door and asked, "Eloise said you wanted to apologise to me, why?"

Edgar flinched, "That's what I said."

Earlene raised her eyebrows, "Which sentence?"

"It's actually not good for a girl to be too skinny."

At that, Earlene burst out laughing, "Mr Edgar, you're overthinking it, I'm not angry about that comment."

"No? Then why were you ... in such a hurry to leave the other night?"

"I have something. I'm sorry I didn't talk to you and gave you the wrong idea."

Edgar was flattered that she would say that and shook his head, "No, no, it's okay, I'm just being cautious and overthinking."

Earlene smiled and said nothing more.

Both men were silent.

Edgar hesitated, "... that, I'm going to go to the bathroom."

Earlene nodded her head.

Edgar got up and walked in the opposite direction to the bathroom.

Going to the bathroom was just an excuse.

Luckily Earlene didn't notice that something was wrong.

Edgar came to the front of the restaurant, looked back at Earlene who was sitting in her seat and said anxiously to the receptionist, "I need to get my flowers." The other person handed him the flowers.

He said "thank you", then turned, took a deep breath, lifted his feet and took a step towards Earlene.

Earlene looks down at her phone and suddenly a bouquet of flowers appears in front of her.

"For you."

She looked up and met Edgar's eyes with a smile written all over them, slightly dazed, but quickly recovered. "Thanks." She took it and placed it smoothly on the empty seat to one side.

Edgar turned his head and smiled at an angle she couldn't see before returning contentedly to his seat.

After that Edgar kept trying to replace various topics to talk to Earlene, who listened quietly and occasionally said something, and the atmosphere was much better than last night. Edgar glanced up at Earlene across the table and pulled the box out of his pocket, hesitating before handing it out.

"Miss Earlene, when I was shopping for a gift for my mother, I saw this necklace and thought it would be particularly suitable for you, and I couldn't resist buying it for a moment." Earlene glanced at the blue flannel box in his hand, put down her fork and picked up a wet wipe to wipe her mouth before looking at him quietly. "It's for you." Edgar said.

He expected her to take the box as she had taken the flowers.

But no.

The smile on his face hung a little as he repeated, "This is for you."

Earlene smiled slightly, "I'm sorry, I can't accept such an expensive gift."

The smile on Edgar's face froze instantly, "Why?"

She was not a fool who knew nothing about feelings, so she could see at once that he had his heart set on her.

But she was not a fan of him.

Rather than accepting his gift and giving him the wrong idea, let's make it clear from the start.

"Thank you for sending me flowers today and for taking me to dinner. I would love for us to not only be partners, but friends."
