Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 988: Choosing a day over a day
"Friends?" Edgar laughed, "Yeah, we're friends."
He secretly reassured himself that at the very least she was willing to become friends with him, and the rest would come in time. "Since you're a friend, you'll have to accept the gift." He raised an eyebrow at Earlene, gesturing for her to take it. Earlene still refuses.
"It's too expensive for me to take."
Edgar didn't push it any further as he withdrew his hand and smiled sardonically, "Then the necklace is a waste." "You can give it to Eloise," Earlene said.
Edgar nodded, "You're right, I can give it to Eloise."
With that, he took the box back into his pocket and then looked down to eat the steak he hadn't finished earlier.
I don't know if it's because it's cold, it's a bit hard and it's not tasty.
In short, it tastes like wax.
...
The night is getting darker.
Hector tucks Solomon in, turns to Eloise, who is asleep against the back of the sofa, and lifts a step to walk gently over to her. "Eloise," he called softly.
At the sound of a voice in her daze, Eloise opened her eyes and the familiar handsome face fell into her eyes, her lips curled up, "I was asleep."
Sitting up straight and stretching, "Solomon asleep?"
As he asked, he looked towards the hospital bed.
"You go to bed and I'll keep watch."
It was heartbreaking for Hector to see her look of exhaustion.
"Hmm."
Eloise obediently went to lie down on the companion bed next to her and she turned her head, "You rest when you're tired, you don't have to keep watch." Hector nodded slightly, "I know. Go to sleep."
Eloise closes her eyes.
She was really tired and fell asleep in no time.
Hector tucked her in before returning to the sofa to sit down and start working on the work he hadn't done during the day.
Eloise was woken by a loud noise. She opened her sleepy eyes and looked around, bewildered to see a familiar figure.
Her eyebrows furrowed, was she still dreaming?
How could I see my brother-in-law and sister-in-law here?
"How is Solomon doing?" Baggott looked at Solomon, who was still sleeping on the hospital bed, with a heartfelt look on his face.
"It's nothing serious, just take a few days to recuperate." Hector said.
Brimlad wrinkled his brow, "It's normal for children to fall and hit themselves when they're at an active age, but Solomon has fallen a bit hard." Looking at the bandages on Solomon's head and his little pale face, Brimlad's heart ached.
"Auntie, Solomon is fine, you don't have to worry too much." Hector reassured.
Brimlad gave him a look and sighed helplessly, "How can I not worry? Such a young child." Hector smiled and said nothing more.
Their attention was so focused on Solomon that no one noticed that Eloise was awake. Eloise sat up from the bed and called out tentatively, "Uncle Junior, Auntie Junior?"
At the sound of voices, Hector and the three of them turned their heads at the same time. Brimlad saw her awake and hurried over to her, "Sorry to wake you up."
"Nothing." Eloise was a little bewildered, "What are you guys doing here all of a sudden?"
"Edgar told us about Solomon, and your brother-in-law and I came over to check it out because we weren't sure." Baggott explained.
Eloise cried and laughed, "Solomon is fine, you didn't have to come over specially, it was too much trouble."
"What are you talking about?" Brimlad gave her a sour look, "Anyway, we're Solomon's aunts and uncles, how can we not come and see him?" Eloise laughed.
They can come and see it of course, it's just too much trouble for them.
She was a bit overwhelmed.
Had I known, I wouldn't have told Edgar.
Eloise got out of bed, put on her shoes and went up and pulled Baggott and Brimlad to the sofa and sat down.
"Since you're all here, let's stay a few more days before we leave." Eloise said.
Baggott and Brimlad looked at each other and spoke, "We came with another purpose in mind besides coming to see Solomon."
"Does it mean you want to visit my in-laws?" Eloise asked.
Baggott lost his smile, "You guessed it."
They've been talking about visiting the Rogers family for a long time, so they'll be there to see it this time.
"When are you planning to go?" Eloise asked again.
"See when it's convenient for your in-laws."
At that, Eloise turned her head to look at Hector, "When is convenient for Mom and Dad?"
"Mom and Dad are always handy."
After hearing Hector's answer, Eloise thought about it and said, "Choose a day, so today is the day."
Brimlad looked at Baggott and asked, "Is that okay?"
"Sure thing." Hector grinned, "I'll call home now and tell them about it."
Brimlad nodded, "Good then."
Although he had thought about coming to visit the Rogers family, Brimlad was a little nervous when the time actually came.
She pulled Eloise to the side and asked in a whisper, "Eloise, what does your mother-in-law usually like?"
"Why are you asking this all of a sudden?" Eloise looked at her quizzically.
"You have to bring a gift for your first visit, you can't go empty-handed."
Eloise thought about it and said, "My mother-in-law likes a lot of things, so if you give a gift, a silk scarf or something will do."
"A silk scarf?" Brimlad frowned, "Wouldn't that be a bit of a petty gift?"
Eloise smiled, "Auntie, my mother-in-law isn't that difficult, as long as it's from you, she'll like it."
Given her mother-in-law's personality, she was already happy to see her mother's family, so what would she care about gifts or not.
Hector called to tell Hector's mother about it and Hector's mother was a little happy to hear about it.
"Are they really coming?"
The corners of Hector's mouth rose subconsciously, "Well, will go over to the house in the evening."
"Come to the house. Wouldn't that be too informal? Why don't you book a private room and we'll go out to eat."
"No, it's all family, it's at home."
Hector's mother didn't insist any further, "All right then, I'll go and arrange it."
They had always wanted to visit Eloise's relatives in person, but could never replace the right time to do so, and now they were coming to City J in person instead, much to Hector's mother's embarrassment. When she hung up, she called for the housekeeper and the maids and asked them to clean the house, inside and out.
Be sure to make Eloise's brother-in-law and sister-in-law feel at home.
...
In the evening, Eloise asked the doctor to let Solomon go home. The doctor examined Solomon's wounds and agreed when he saw that there was nothing serious.
"Eloise, would it be rude of me to wear this?" Brimlad looked down at his attire and always felt something was wrong.
Eloise knew she was nervous, so she looked everywhere wrong.
"Don't be nervous, Auntie, you're not wearing anything wrong, it's nice and proper." Eloise took her hand and soothed her.
"Really?" Brimlad was a little incredulous.
"Really."
Seeing the helplessness in Eloise's eyes, Brimlad smiled, "Well that's good then, I'm a bit nervous about meeting Hector's parents and meeting your in-laws for the first time."
